  1. I was told by someone who is trying to research him, that he had passed away. Is there anybody who can confirm this, or has more information on him? Sounds like he had some of his builds featured in the magazines.
  2. I'm guessing the budget has changed. I don't think retailers are buying as many car kits. Recall last year Hobby Lobby downsized their selection.
  3. Great looking box art, except that snorkle hood scoop looks a bit out of place on what otherwise looks like a street car.
  4. Oooooohhhh that's lovely!
  5. Nice job and perfect color choice.
  6. My comment is I love it, and my only criticism is that it resides in the wrong zip code. I'd be much happier with it in mine!
  7. I'm in! I had a convertible like that one. Sold it under financial duress.
  8. That is Bad. To. The. Bone! Old school McCool. Makes me want to open my wallet and get my own off the Bay.
  9. That is beyond cool, Ron. Love the AMT 57 bits on there and the interior is off the hook cool. I'm glad I checked out the Under Glass section today. I almost didnt.
  10. Whenever I look at that box art build, all I can see is a train wreck. Stock firewall, body sitting too high on the frame goofy spotlights, black carburetors... It was a low period for AMT box art. The 56 Ford and the 59 (really a 60) Corvette with its upsidedown headlights were just as bad.
  11. That body has been rough ever since they opened the hood on it. The hood fit particularly is less than stellar. Certainly not one of their better examples. Thankfully most of their other reissues are far better. That said, I'd like to pick one up and kit bash it with their 64.
  12. I for one really enjoy hearing and reading the history of our hobby. Our Facebook group "Scale Survivors" which promotes the preservation of vintage builds, and memorabilia from the golden age, has over 3500 members. That, my friend is just the tip of the iceberg. If you write it, we will come.
  13. Dont get much cooler in Coupes-ville than this.
  14. I like that. And AMT has some nice blue line slicks that could approximate those rear tires.
  15. Ok, didn't see any photos before. So it did get the Halibrands. And the SBC. Definitely will have to get one for parts. Just not real fond of the body. Especially the wheel wells.
  16. Looks like the same wheels and tires as last time. The big change is the small block Chevy instead of the Buick Nailhead.
  17. Definitely cool box art. I'm in for at least one.
  18. That's ironic, because they cloned it from the AMT kit.
  19. Gor-geous
  20. Even just fixing the headlights would be a big (and I would think not all that expensive) improvement.
  21. Oh boy! More Firestone Supreme blackwall tires! Those are so rare and oh so useful on... um... uh.... I do want the Dart, and I like the Hot Wheels set tho.
  22. They have them at your Hobby Lobby? I sure haven't seen any at the two near me.
  23. Well we aren't in Australia. And just a couple of years ago, we were paying 24.99 per kit. Hobby Lobby has shrunk their model car selection by a third. What would you attribute that to? I'm not complaining about the prices. I know the folks running RC2 are not greedy, and that it takes money to stay in business. I'm pointing out that they may may have reached a point where the neccessary MSRP may (or even HAS) cost them sales. I'm sure not done buying yet. When I can find them. Im sure it's even worse for you.
  24. Agreed. Only thing is, I think we have arrived at the point where the increased MSRP is going to cost sales. I know It started hitting my budget when they went up to 29.99. I dont begrudge them that, and I still buy the kits, but I can't in the same numbers I used to. That potential loss in sales may be reflected in Hobby Lobby's reduction of shelf space for model car kits, too.
