I did the box art car for one of those issues back in 1992 and I gotta be honest, yours looks way better than mine. Gorgeous. Makes me want to build one of my extras.
-
My sister had one. Plus I know it should be there too. I feel blind for not noticing!

You're right! I don't know why I didn't catch that myself.

The second generation Courier was still Mazda based, but the 2.3 liter Ford engine was an available option.

I like it. Definitely has the box art vibes.

AMT 49 Ford is a direct interchange, and any issue newer than 1991 will not have the hole in the block. It will also have stub axles so you won't need the metal axle.

I don't have one. But if I see one at Hobby Lobby, I'm grabbing at least one. Maybe 2 or 3.- 32 replies

AMT is bringing back the LiL' Gypsy wagon ?
Dave Darby replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I remember being 11 years old and absolutely despising that sort of stuff. Now I can appreciate it for what it is. Not that I personally would buy one. -
I think most of what was obliterated chrome tree wise of the XR6 was for the Cinder Bug issue. I believe the two trees in the tool were end to end with each other. So the longer chrome tree for the Cinder Bug encroached on the XR6 tree. The tree for the touring was changed a great deal for the post My Mother the Car release, losing the quad headlights and the cycle wheels and other parts. AMT also tooled up a new front axle and Frontenac head for that tree. The photos below are top to bottom; My Mother the Car, Cinder Bug, and Original 27 T / XR6.

It was also available in 1962. Guessing it was Chestnut Poly.63 Ford Colors Here is crummy pic of my old Fairlane. Doesn't do the color justice at all.

It's a beauty, with impeccable craftsmanship. I had 63 Tudor post back in the day. A copper bronze color. I still miss that car.

Keep in mind AMT's assets were moved at least twice from East Troy Michigan due to the company being sold first to Lesney, in Baltimore, then to Ertl in Dyersville Iowa. The paperwork for tracking all of that smaller tooling probably didn't make the trips. When I spoke with AMTs John Mueller in 2013, he told me he had just finally gotten to go through all of the AMT and MPC tools and inserts and get them sorted out. And that's no conspiracy theory.

I recall a thread about the AMT Corvair where Mark mentioned decontenting the clear parts. They tooled up a new fan shroud that was a poor fit.

Correct, and BTW, the Bob I was scolding was "RegularGuy". Not Mr Ellis, who actually knows what he's talking about! Lol....

Looks gorgeous! Almost identical to one I built for a good friend of mine in 1996 who owned a real one. The one I built differed in that it had a dark green interior and dual quads. I rebuilt his engine and used the leftover paint for the model engine.

Gorgeous. Once you get past the curbside aspect of it, this is likely the best proportioned 57 Belair hardtop ever kitted.
-
That paint job sure is purty. This build is gonna be a stunner.
-
Looking great, sir!
-
Thats right purty. I like it.

I built this 76 annual when it first came out, age 15. Yes, those are sewing thread plug wires. It's missing a few parts in these photos, which are slowly getting replaced. (Including those ultra 70s sidepipes!) The hood will get repainted with that bitchin scoop and #4 decal to match the sides once again, so it can relive the day it won me my first ever Trophy at Toy Fair. (Anybody remember them?

The MPC snap kit. It has a nice stock grille.
