  1. Just purchased the Jo-Han Sox & Martin Pro Stock Cuda and the MPC Fire Fighter II Mustang today! Time to get to work! Thanx to everybody for their guidance, I really appreciate it. I'll keep you all posted on the progress.
  2. LOL. That pic is supposed to be funny as it is an actual album cover from Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush entitled "What's Next", meaning what else can go wrong! It was Frank's personal racecar without sponsorship that was raced up in the North East in the early 80's, mostly at Englishtown Raceway Park in New Jersey. Ralph Macchio is actually Jimmy Ayoub, the drummer for the band. No offense taken. I received the stock Omni in the mail today!
  3. So to clarify. That Sox & Martin Cuda kit comes with that Dual Plug Hemi, tunnel ram and dominators that you have pictured? Except for the wiring of course, which looks awesome by the way. Thanx
  4. What a beauty! That's what I need right there. Yep, it has a Lenko as well. I seen one at one of the resin modelers sites. Appreciate the pix. Thanx
  5. Awesome responses! Thanx for taking the time to give me detailed info. I realize 2 kits are needed, but that particular engine is necessary, so I may end up buying 3 as I haven't yet seen the engine by itself. Love to run across a completed engine, but that may be a tall order. I ordered the stock Omni today, so I am commited! LOL
  6. Thanx for the info on the Mustang II, I will look into it. I was hoping to find a Mopar Pro-Stock with the right wheelbase and the Hemi. Hope I am not dreaming too big. I want to avoid buying 3 cars or 2 cars plus an engine somewhere else. I am not in a big hurry, so I have time to keep searching for the ideal purchase. The stock Omni is plentiful, so I can get that anytime.
  7. Hello Experts, amateurs, novices and you! I need help and guidance for my next build. The finished car will be a Pro-Stock 1980 Dodge Omni like the one pictured below. I know that I will need at least 2 models to complete it correctly. The stock Omni 1979 1/25 scale should suffice as the sidewinder model has fender flares and some ungodly looking front lower valance. The second model is where I need some guidance as it will be used to marry the body on that frame. I have looked at a few pro-stock model kits, but haven't found the right one that would fit the easiest without paying through the nose for a Landry model. As you know, the wheel wells of the pro-stock kit need to match the body of the stock Omni, length and width wise without too much customizing. If anyone knows those measurements or knows of a pro-stock model, that would be great. Also, is a 1/25 scale close enough to a 1/24 scale? My plan is to build the pro-stock without the body and then get the Omni body on there as close as possible. It is a personal build and not for show. Below are some of the parts that I will need to make it close to correct and "hopefully" come in a pro-stock kit already. Engine: Dodge Hemi 426/500+ HP with tunnel ram and dual 1350 Dominator carbs. Dual plug and dual distributor Wheels and tires: Centerline (or alike) Goodyear or Firestone racing slicks with skinnies up front I truly appreciate anyone's help on this project.
  8. OMG! That is outstanding. Looks very realistic. The weathering is top notch. You raised the bar for sure. Looking forward to more.
  9. Don't tempt me!
  10. Good choice! I am in the middle of my own 59 Cad build. I had to drill out the axle holes bigger to get the wheels to fit all the way on as not to rub on the body. And never could get the body on with the engine installed all the way. I had to put the pulley/belt/fan system within the shroud (loosely) then the engine. After that, the body went on easy. Good luck on trying without deviating from the instructions. My 59 Cad progress thread
  11. Awesome conception and execution. Love Corvairs and 4x4 trucks. Right up my alley. Looking forward to the progress and final product.
  12. I think it is too late now since the windows are glued in, correct? I have watched vids and read tutorials on BMF and it doesn't look THAT hard, I agree, but I was unaware of it's existence when I began. I will do it on my next build for sure. Thanx.
  13. Yeah, the booth works great and easy to move out into the sun. I did not feel comfortable doing the BMF on this build, so it looks kinda naked. Also, it does have one coat of clear laquer over the color Mythical Maroon. Still trying to figure out why the body does not go all the way down over the chassis. The 2 rear floorpan tubs hang below the body just a tad, but that looks normal. I will figure it out soon or I will have a small plastic fire. Thanx for the replies.
  14. Just a few notes and photos of my first build in over 35 years. It is not done, just a progress report. Everything fit like a glove, O.J.'s glove! First I made a makeshift paint booth out of an old plastic container (my ol' lady's ornament box), which works fine. She forgave me after I let her pick the Caddy color. OK, here we go. Paint booth Primered First coat of color. Did 3 coats over a week. Mocking in the engine. Looked good, but had to remove it to put the body on. Mocked in the interior. Up close it looks like it was painted during the Baja 1000. It was not. Body setting on interior. Decided against the gloss white top. Ready to see if it fit. It id not. LOL. Removed engine to fit body to check ride height. Engine bay. Liked the color on the wheel wells, so I did not flat black them. Set hood on to get a feel of what I was aiming for when I get to final assembly. I felt good, so I fired up a Montecristo. Side angle showing an issue with body not fitting completely over the chassis. I hope I figure it out before I run out of scotch and cigars! Thanx for looking. I will post up the finished car when I finish it...doh. And a BIG THANX to everyone who has posted tips, pics, links etc. on the great site!
  15. Yes, you have too many. One wife is too many!
  16. Hello and thanx for having me. Looking forward to sniffing a lot of glue for the right reasons this time! Haven't built a model since I was about 18 and I am now 56. It was the Chevy Luv High-Roller which looked kinda like my real 4x4 Luv. I tried to find it now, but WOW, they want nearly $200 for it. Pass. I got me a 59 Caddy for my return to modeling. The one on this forum is STUNNING! Mine won't be, but I am taking my sweet time to build it, so it should be ok for showing in my shed. Avid cigar smoker who needed to do something while enjoying my nightly puff. My shed shall serve both activities well. I promise not to smoke around the glue or paint! Off to reading more of the threads. - Mahogany Rush
  17. Looks awesome! I just started this build and was wondering if you blacked out the front grille? Also, are those chrome pieces on the sides? Because mine appears to be decals for those. I am going "to try" lowering mine just a tad. I will post up a pic when i finish it, although it probably won't compare to your fine art. Any tips on this build would be appreciated. Thanx in advance!
