Great job! Very clean. I built one a few months ago and I concur that it is a great kit, but the front valance is a nightmare.

Thanx for the replies. Yes the model is a dog, but it came out pretty good nonetheless. It's just that I had a hell of a time with it. I wasn't sure about the color when I picked it, but it did fit well with the white inlets and interior. Be warned if you buy this one though.

That is bad Arse!

I wanted to build an old vette with dual headlights and this reissue looked like the winner. It was NOT. This MPC re-issue was garbage to build. Fit issues, over-pouring of the sprue so that the part numbers were not legible as well as excessive trimming of sprue needed. This kit is a 6 in 1, which means there are so many ways to build it that is did get confusing for the simple mind. I would not recommend this particular version at all, unless of course you need to brush up on your cursing skills! The end result was just ok. I went with a Tamiya Candy Lime since I have no green cars! Did the inlets gloss white and added extra BMF on the tail fins. The engine is the kit one which is a 283 with a blower. Nice fit for this although the headers were a complete joke. Of course I added bigger Mickey Thompson Sportsman meats to it which were a tight fit without cutting any wells out. I did trim the outside wells at the bottom just a tad. Thanx for looking!

This project was made possible by this board. I wanted to build a Jeep Wagon that my dad used to have many years ago, a Jeep that I learned to drive in when I was just 12 (in the desert). I put out a request on this board because I had never seen a model anywhere after my searching. A member "vintagedragcrazy" a.k.a. Vince answered my call. He had one, although it was a former "glue bomb" with many pieces missing, he had the body which was a great place to start. It came in pretty good shape, all disassembled, but with a interior chassis, dash, hood, some seats and bumpers. Definitely something I could work with. My dad's was gray with a white top, so I went with Testor's Graphite Dust lacquer and Rustoleum Gloss White. For the running gear, I purchased the AMT Crew Chief Blazer and got some meats off of eBay. The Jeep Wagon came with no glass or lights which I had to make. Clear styrene is not the cleanest to represent glass, but it's all I had. I had no mirrors anywhere, so it looks a bit naked. The engine was the stock one from the Crew Chief and it sat a bit low in the body, but it came out okay I guess. Thanx for looking and BIG THANX to Vince (vintagedragcrazy) for the rare find! Once again, being a member of this board pays off!!! On to the next one.

Here is a '66 that I did a few months ago. Modded it to a 4x4 and it was tough. Plan your build as much as you can, prep the body and most of all, do not rush it. Sometimes I only get to glue one thing per day! Also I have learned to do "dry fit" as much as possible before paint and assembly. This takes away a lot of the handling of the body once painted which is exactly what you want. I am no pro, believe me. I read this forum a lot and take mental notes on all advice and tips. Best forum for modeling that I have found. Great members that share knowledge and offer constructive criticism as well as praise. Keep it up. -

Bleed is caused by a couple things. Rule of thumb for me (IMO) is to always paint the model the color of the lesser of the 2 colors, then tape over what you want to keep that color after it dries completely. First you need good paint masking tape like Tamiya. Press it firmly across the cleaned surface and rub over it evenly. Secondly, I then do light coats of the main color. Too much at once and it will bleed. After it dries a bit, remove the mask slowly as not to pull off the paint. You should have cleaner lines (not perfect). Doing 2 tone is easier when there is a trim or molding to separate the colors. Practice on scrap if you have it. Have fun! -

A tip on gluing windows is to use Elmer's White School Glue. It dries clear, plus any extra can be wiped away after it's dried with a watered down Q-tip. Good job on the 4 piece hood though. They are tough. -

Maybe you should have painted the whole truck white, let it dry a day or two, then mask off what you want white and paint the green last. Then pull the tape off of the white and it would look neater, IMO. It appears that you left the molded white without paint. Two-tone is not the easiest to keep the bleed down. You did a fine job otherwise. Great truck in real life. -
What a great old thread I just came across. Here is my one and only '32 Five Window with a 427 FORD.

Epic build. Great job on the BMF. What do you use on the windows to make them that nice?

Here is the pic after I snapped the body.

Wow, that's clean. Must get some polish for my projects now.

Nice!

My version of the '32 Deuce Coupe from the Revell 5-Window kit. I decided to trade in the Hemi and stuff a Blown 427 Ford from a "Revell Parts Paks" kit. And I do mean STUFF! It was tight. I tossed out the body for a Jimmy Flintstone chopped version. Wanted it chopped, but I didn't have the cajones to try it! Some things best left to the pros. Got some big fat meats off eBay called "Mickey Thompson Sportsman's" that gave me that little extra badness I wanted and to help the rake since I was not channeling this baby. Went with a bright yellow (Rustoleum Sun Yellow) because I haven't done a yellow car yet and not to replicate Milner's from American Graffitti. No fenders for me! Tried my rookie hand at blacking out the grill. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that I snapped the body down one whole side while trying to massage it into shape. I almost lost my mind! SNAP!!!!!! Arrrrrrgh. Fixed it pretty good though. It snapped on the A and B pillars all the way to the rear fender well on the right side of the car. We can still see it, but I tried my rookie hand had a Tamiya putty job. And here is the interior that no one can see! LOL. I lost the Fuel Gauge decal, but found it stuck to my arm hours after I gave up looking and painted it black! Thanx for looking and once again thanx to ALL of the members of this board that provide guidance and support to everyone. Next up for me, a 53 Jeep Wagon (my dad's).

Looks close and looks great!
