Those wheels look great on that car!
-
I keep remembering Dad talking about racing back in the 60's when he had is '62 Plymouth how those X-Frame cars would usually light the tires and slide sideways before they'd actually move forward because the frame would twist under the load of a hard launch and the cars would not hook. That wasn't really a problem on uni-body and normal, full framed cars, but those X-Frame cars would always have that problem. My Dad's folks also had a '63 Riviera that Dad and his uncle built up and they had to do a bunch of suspension and frame work on it to make it hook like a full frame or uni-body car if not better. As for the interior color thing, it's bugged me for a while now that there are not really any color choices now like there used to be. I'd love to know why they still don't offer multiple interior colors...although somehow I get the feeling that production costs, possible environmental problems (from the dyes), and "Driver safety" concerns play a part in it

Chrysler Discontinues PT Cruiser
Joe Handley replied to 59-Desoto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wouldn't mine one of the turbo GT models, it would make a nice, roomy, fair weather driver and companion to my Cherokee. Seeing as how heavy I am, I seem to fit nicely in it and it has a good amount of room in the back without being as "big" as my XJ and carry my RC stuff in it too. Of course, I'd probably want to bump the boost and try to run it on E-85 too, might as well make a hot rod out of it and take advantage of the high octane and the additional chemical intercooling the E-85 would offer too -
Chrysler Discontinues PT Cruiser

IIRC the PT and Neon were to share some parts, but it only had something like 20% parts compatibility. I swear that the rear suspension, save the Watt's Link, was very similar to that of the Lebaron and Shadow I used to own. -
OK John, htose are pretty funny

Real or Model #143 FINISHED!

Real -
I think that was a custom set up for that model, although the later '88 Pontiac/McLaren Grand Prix GPT turbo coupe used similar set up IIRC.

Thanks guys, the guy I got these from was using them on an E-Revo Brushless Edition running on 22.2 volts....I had remounted a new set of tires on it after that truck destroyed a couple of them on a 6s run

I'm looking to strip the damaged "black chrome" finish off a set of R/C Truck rims that I received second hand, but don't want to try and remove or damaged the tires while I'm at it. Any suggestions on what to try? The pics below are of the rolling stock in question and will probably use the same procedure on the equally damaged O.E.M. bumpers from the same truck that these wheels are for.

Looks like it's a pretty good site, wish I had a way of using it if it was around when I still had my cars. Been thinking lately that a factory turbo PT Cruiser set up to run E-85 would make a pretty fun little suppliment to the Jeep Cherokee I'm driving right now.......... BTW, yes that last post was mine too OK, now that sounds pretty friggin' cool right there

Does anybody else think that plane looks like a pre-historic "Pod Racer"

Painting on the sprue
Joe Handley replied to MILD's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Leave them on the sprue, clean them up while knocking off sprue that's not totally needed to hold them in place, and paint...then touch up if needed. -

Might have to be careful doing that, the local drug store (West Chicago Jewell/Osco for Harry P. and CrazyJim ) I worked at back in HS would put the pics of people who had been caught stealing on a cork board in the break room so we would know who to look out for. We actually had to stop doing that because out break room and the bathrooms on that side of the store were in the same area and there was some concern that the store could get sued for Defamation of Character or some nonsense like that if someone wandered into the "break room" area while back there to use the facilities and saw those pics (primarily a family member or said thief) Now if one were know to have pics of said scum, and various event holders knew of such pics and were to request them via PM, e-mail, or even snail mail and show them to the people working the show but not putting them out for all to see............................... -
I was just curious, I'm still a member of the Shelby Dodge Mailing List and recently joined TurboDodge.com and got an e-mail about the car being for sale with this link in it. http://www.thewraithcar.com/index.html I am bummed though that it has a Buick V6 (better than a junkyard truck SB Chevy most street rods sem to get, I guess ) instead of some variant of the 2.2/2.5 motor....or even the newer 2.4 Turbo/SRT turbo motor

Are you selling the 1/1 car or is there another one up for sale?

ROFL, I was just thinking that there must be a bald troll somewhere near his workbench

I'd actually buy that kit, even if I wouldn't build it just for the "hey that's kinda neat!" factor. It's just odd enough to trip that part of me that digs those kinds of things

jeep buildups
Joe Handley replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They're not styrene or CJ's, but here's two of the last three Jeeps I've worked on The third would be my daily driver Cherokee but that was when Dad and I did front brakes and u-joints a couple months back.................... -
Modeling over for a while :(
Joe Handley replied to Deckerz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sounds like the police need to get involved in this one Decker -
What browser are you using? I had issues with IE7 at work getting this forum to work right, but non with IE6, IE8, or any of the Firefox's. Usually the box you type into is at the bottom of the screen just like the quick reply box on the Real or Model portion of the forum, but on the computer with IE7 that I tried to use wouldn't bring up that box and I couldn't even get anything to post and had issues with just trying to post in a thread like this one

I think I know what you're talking about with the "freak drops", but I can't remember what those are called off hand either. The saran wrap thing is still being used by people who paint RC bodies too but now call it "marbling", usually spray some kind of pearl paint onto the inside of the body that take saran wrap or cheap, store sourced plastic bag and twist it into the still wet paint then back coat it with another color afterward. Another trick some RC guys do is to get some of the rubber like shelf liner that is molded to have a woven style shape to it. You lay it down over the lexan in the same way you would the lace, then shoot a silver or light gun metal color paint through the liner, you then remove the liner and back the first color with a metallic black, dark gun metal, or charcoal. If done correctly it will give a bit of a carbon fiber or woven graphite appearance to what ever you apply it to. *EDIT* AhHa! finally found the kind of liner I'm talking about for the Carbon Fiber/Woven Graphite look! http://housewares.hardwarestore.com/37-188-shelf-and-drawer-liners/magic-cover-natural-weave-liner-126179.aspx I've also seen people use this stuff and as a mask and claim it "looks like Carbon Fiber", but it comes out looking more like a line grid type graphic instead. http://www.homedepot.com/Building-Materials-Drywall-Drywall-Accessories/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xi3Zaq0l/R-100671081/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
