I'm almost positive I've seen that one with the Ilinois plates running around the area I work in several times over the past 10 years, wonder where it's based out of? Also ran across a Disney movie based out of LA about some HS dancing team a few days ago and the lead teen's dropout boyfriend was driving a car that looked alot like this one too.

Figured it had to be an Austin model, but didn't expect it to be that big! -

You know, it's funny, of all the new 4dr Jeeps that were released after Daimler took over and after the Cherokee's death warrant was signed, that 4dr JK and the 2dr LJ Wrangler are about the closest thing that have been brought out as a replacement for the good old XJ platform! Me thinks somebody screwed up here Another amazing bit is that the 4dr JK's easily outsells the H3 and have been one of Chrysler's few and much needed shining lights of late Anybody else wondering how that little blower would make a 3.8l V6 powered minivan run....................... -

Real or Model #101 FINISHED!

Yup, that mirror looks like one piece of something and chrome platted, usually the glass is pretty obviously separate from the rest off the mirror assembly. Thw woodgrain and gauges just don't look "right" to me either. -

I'm going to say model, probably a Poacher of something along those lines. -
How about a little model car history?
Joe Handley replied to tim boyd's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Was that '59 a cover car at some point? It looks kinda familiar. -

Improved Lighting & Magnification Options?

Hehe, that's far nicer than what Dad has to say about getting old....but I can't exactly repeat that on here either since this is a family forum I'll never forget helping him on our old F/S Chevy Van when I was in highschool and he had to pull the steering column apart to tighten the screws that were coming loose in it and half the time he was complaining about the bifocals being more of a nusense while trying to see under the dash in the dark while working by flashlights. -
You're right, that does sound good Dang it, now I'm hungry Beautiful work Gramps, now I just have to wait till I work with the same kid again to show him how it turned out!

Just showed the hood to a couple co-workers, one of them thought it was for a real car!

I started building this back in '95 or '96 and it got put away, it's AMT's '64 Impala with the chassis from the '62 BelAir, TPI form Monograms Monte Carlo SS, and wheels from Aoshima, guess it's was going to be a little ahead of it's time

IIRC the stock trim was going to stay, but I was thinking about the stock "skirts" and the kit's Baby Moons with hand painted wide whites. I have been thinking of Flaming Orange, Ice Blue or Pearl White on this one too....maybe both with the blue on top. I did have a co-worker suggest putting Electric Pink on the upper half, but I don't think that will happen

Don't even want to think of how many I've had that happen to, usually it's some kind of custom that I botched in some way and can't think of a way out of it other than make it a parts kit. The chopped '49 Merc that's posted in "On the Workbench" is one of them because of an issue with the plastic's reaction to excessive amounts of that putty being applied. I got frustrated and put it away hoping that the plastic would re-solidify to the point it could be saned again.......and forgot about it until yesterday

Real or Model #100 FINISHED!

For me it's the front side marker and trim (too big and well defined) and the hydrolic piston for the D/S door. -
Thanks guys, I appreciate the good words! It looked like the plastic has stabilized enough that I can now start sanding it again. Been trying to remember what I was doing for the window openings, I'm thinking I was going to glue in some strip over the top portion as a bit of a flair over the top of the opening (kinda like making a fender flare, if that makes sense ) With any luck this will be a bit of a head scratcher once the primer is on it and the surgical scars are covered since the pillars aren't technically cut down at all Anybody else think that some of the new Model Master and Testor's lacquers would look really good on this car too?

I found this AMT Merc that I started chopping a few years back and put away when the chemicals in Squadron Green Putty turned the roof and windshield opening to rubber when I put too much on without realising that would happen. What I did is chop the part of the roof that is directly above windshield then cut the body above and below the C-Pillar and back window then leaned the whole roof forward, which required removing the B-Pillar as well. Thought I'd take pics of it after findind it while looking for kits to get rid of and post them here to see what you guys though. What do you guys think?
