Um, I think the car Sinatra drove in C.R.2 was a Dodge Daytona Turbo (probably an draw through Turbo I car ), and Sammy and Dino were driving an early C4 Vette....IIRC Sinatra blew the doors off the Vette with that little G-Body too On the DVD of the first movie the Ferrari that Sammy and Dino used belonged to Hal Needham (as did the ambulance Burt and Dom drove.) On the first part of the movie when the Sheik arrived in his Rolls you can see Yates' white Challenger that he used in one of the real C.R.'s too!

I forgot about him, the were saying on the news that Cronkite wasn't doing too good, flu or pneumonia I think.
-
Maybe a blow to the head, I guess he was on a flight from Pennsylvania to Florida that had a blow out and a hard enough landing that the luggage in the overhead bins rained down on the passengers, himself included.

What defines Pro Touring?
Joe Handley replied to Scott Colmer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In some ways, couldn't the moonshine cars really be considered the predecessors to these and rally cars, they had to alot of the same things, just sneakier I wouldn't mind doing a Cherokee up as a cross between one of the SCCA Comanche and SRT Grand Cherokee, but keeping the 4wd, solid axles, and I-6 -
Is it going to be like one driven by Bo Duke in one of the later Dukes episodes?

Buried Belvedere
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I talked to the guy who works for the Museum in Branson, MO that has that pristine one on display, it sounded like Ms. Belvedere was in pretty bad shape and would have taken a ton of work to put it back. I guess the guy who owns the museum is trying to get this one too. He also said that alot of people who have see the pristine car seem to think that it's the buried car and already fully restored -
Nice looking build!

What defines Pro Touring?

Found these the other day G-Machine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYlkyWOtArg Pro-Touring I seriously think a decently maintained, well driven Jeep Cherokee could show those Pro-Touring cars how to run that course -
Fathers' Day Classic Car Show
Joe Handley replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dad and I went to that show a couple years ago, looks like there were a few returning cars, here's one of my favorites from the that one What kind of engine does this one have? -
Real or Model #94 FINISHED!
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Real, just looks like a not yet thrashed dirt track car with too body parts that seem to thin for plastic or resin. -
Not a bad idea, maybe leave the b-pillar angle alone and lay the front window and back window down a little.
-
I doubt it, but brake parts are close enough that they'll interchange pretty easily from what I hear.
-
Nice build, is that based off the low mileage resto car that came in something like 99.something% accurate at the carlise Mopar chow a few years back?
-
Yup, most likely, but I guess it didn't take much to swap the later 5 lug stuff over to the 4 lug equipped cars, and now it sounds like it doesn't take much more to swap the more recent 5 on 4.5" stuff Minivan stuff (much bigger, stronger, and increasingly more readily available than the stock stuff) on to the old K-Chassis cars from what I've read recently too Always like the way my old '85 Lebaron GTS turbo stopped stock, can't imagine how much better it could be if the 4 wheel disks from my folks '06 Town and Country found their way onto one of those cars

X2, maybe a scale inch or two, nothing drastic

Koenigsegg to buy SAAB
Joe Handley replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same here, should be real interesting I didn't think Chevy rings stayed in one piece that long? -
Good looking build, never seen that kit before, I knew they made the standard Shelby Charger with teh 2.2/5sp combo in snap form but not this one. If you're talking about the kit, IIRC the '84 Daytona's had a 4x100mm bolt pattern and from '85 through '93 used a 5x100mm (or 5 on 4") bolt pattern.

Opinions Wanted!
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd black it out....with paint! Talked to a guy a few months back who did that on his V-6 car and got the vinyl sticker on fleebay and from what he told me it was a poor fit and he could see red paint around the fake filler cap where the sticker went around it. Depends on where you live out here I do like the ribbed idea, maybe if you spray the flat finish, do it in a mix of flat and satin to fake the ribbed panel look. Now that I look at it more, I'd even black out the parts orf the deck lid, bumper, and quarters that surround the tails, and I think the chrome tail light trim would help set that off. Just leave off that goofy looking third brake light trim, who ever thought that looks good needs a Jethro Gibbs headslap. -
Real or Model #93 FINISHED!
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
That right there makes me think it's a prototype scale model of some sort, the headlights and hubcaps just don't look right like they would on a 1/1 car, especially the lights on a normal FC. -
Wow, that first Road Runner pic almost looked real with the slight fuzzieness to it!

Max Mosley doesn't have a clue does he?
Joe Handley replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've all but stopped watching NA$CAR and never really had much intrest in F1, I kinda wish more road racing was on any channel other than Speed (don't get it here ) and did finally get a chance to watch a TORQ race (it replaced CORR and in now sponsored mainly by Traxxas RC and AMSOIL) for the first time and I have to admit I kinda dig that........................and no, it's not just because I'm a Traxxas nut -
flathead exhaust question
Joe Handley replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I were doing a real truck like that, I'd go for the x-pipe hands down. If it were for a model, it would really depend on the style of build. Now if it were to my specs, see the first sentence.......otherwide I've go to a more prototypical style of what would look right for that kind of rig. If it's more, and please pardon the expression, "Redneckish" for your area or low buck, make it look like autoparts store flex pipe or a whole munch of tubing pieces running from the manifolds to the stacks or something along those lines.
