  1. Interesting, indeed. I didn't realize the motivation for changing the Dream Rod kit into the Tiger Shark kit, or the 'changes' the other MPC kits went through. Scott, the rotating stand was a kind of hour-glass shaped round molded plastic piece powered by a rubber band. It came with a handful of small steel balls and a packet of Vaseline. You smeared the Vaseline in a trough, then dropped the balls into the trough and the top rode on that . . . instant ball-bearing! It worked okay . . . especially for the kids and teens it was aimed to attract. There were a lot of them on the contest tables in those days.
  2. Nice.
  3. Yep, Testors Icy Blue will give you the metallic light blue you are looking for.
  4. Actual announcement: "Pay no attention to the ambulances and fire trucks lining the runway. They're not here for us. Prepare for a bit of a bump when we land." PS: Yes, they were there for us!
  5. How much cash for that Mobius strip? Is that strip or stripe? Striped or stripped? Cast or casted? Tomato or tahmahtoe? Let's call the whole thing off.
  6. What's wrong with it? Looks like just another Mustang. Just kidding, people! Paint it orange, Jesus. It'll be fine.
  7. Watch that one moderator fold this '58 Corvette review thread into that other '58 Corvette review thread, thereby defeating your purpose.
  8. Uh, I don't like the blue. Too many red ones and yellow ones and blue ones. The real ticket to fame would be . . . oh, say . . . a purple one!!!! The guy who builds a purple 32 3window is gonna be King!
  9. Very nice!
  10. Great pix, Dave. Great topic, Tim. I think the XR6 was more iconic than a lot of people thought. It wasn't 'huge' in the context of the Ala Kart, and it may not have had a fervent band of faithful followers, but it certainly struck a chord with many when it came to suggesting the future. It may not be the first car that comes to mind when considering the history of hot rodding, but it certainly earned a bigger place in the annals of hotroddering than one might think at first blush!
  11. Uh. Okay. Just glad it's over and Harry's okay. It's such a relief. Good scam, Harry! Milking the sympathy until you shame the son into buying you a new one! I gotta try that one.
  12. Now that's a real TV hero car! Good job, Marshall!
  13. Stunning!
  14. Good for you, Ray! That's great ~ scoring something you've been after!
  15. Nice.
  16. LOL. Yeah, I'm not in any danger of running out of things to build, either, Gabe!
  17. Nifty decals and Ed Roth marketing tie-in or not, I will avoid the old Revell kits like the plague. New Revell? Great stuff. Old, fiddly Revell? I survived it once, I don't want to risk it a second time.
  18. That's cool! Neat to know the connection.
  19. Agreed. We've waited 40+ years, we can wait another couple of months. No sweat.
