  1. Ertl AMT mis-identified or mis-labeled that kit as a "Woodie." God only knows where they came up with that one! One of their consultants at the time even pointed it out, but they went ahead with calling it a "Woodie" because they thought it would sell more kits than calling it a sedan delivery! Just goes to show you what can happen when profiteering trumps reality. Nice build of a strange kit.
  2. Mark, I think he's exempt from the rules.
  3. Bingo! That's gonna work!
  4. Nice.
  5. I call your Lions and raise you ... my team. Go BRONCOS! (Go somewhere.) PS: (Well, at least they got rid of that high school kid that was masquerading as an NFL head coach. ) PPS: (Welcome back, John Elway!!!! There's hope yet! )
  6. Kewl! {PS: Mine was molded in red.}
  7. WOW! Just spectacular . . . and it's going to be getting even better! Holy Hornets, Batman!
  8. Mark has a computer programming conflict that currently prevents him from posting here; he reads from time to time but cannot post. As I understand it, the problem is being worked on. The museum is a worthy cause and any kits or boxes donated will be put to good use; if rare or otherwise not already part of an historical collection, items can be included in the fund-raising auction at GSL which benefits the museum by producing revenues which pay or offset operating costs of the museum. The museum is located in Salt Lake City, UT. Have you obtained an estimate of shipping costs? That would help in evaluating how to accomplish the donation.
  9. What Harry said. (Although I had seen the 1:1 before John created the model.) Ten Thumbs UP!
  10. Spectacular! Attention all contest promoters: go ahead and engrave all those 2011 trophies: "Best of Show - Thunderflite." No need to wait 'til the last minute.
  11. Good parents. Listen to them; they're trying to do the best for you. There are some things that just ought to wait; no need to rush past your youth and headlong into the adult world. There'll be plenty of time later for playing grown-up, after you've had a chance to learn and mature at a sensible pace. Some things, like too much internet access, tend to prevent young people from getting experience and maturity before they start experiencing mature things.
  12. Wow, Jim. Thanks for the detailed analysis. The '69 Chevy has always been a favorite of mine, and learning more about the accuracy vs. inaccuracy of available resin products is a huge way to avoid disappointments! Unfortunately, the resin world is littered with half-baked attempts to market bodies ... and way too many of them are 'close' ~~~ or worse. There's usually too much $$ involved to just buy 'em all, so info like you've shared here is invaluable. Thanks!
  13. That's sweet! Love the wires on a Willys and the different treatment. (So cool to see a Willys without a blower!). Nice job!
  14. That's different!! ~~~ In a good way. ~~~ Gets my vote for 'Best Use of Random Parts Box Parts.'
  15. Love the color combination and the way you wrapped that too-cool Orange Mist striping under the hood and all! Good to see this uncommon kit built up nicely!
  16. Clean.

    Cool.
  18. Nice! Great rescue.
  19. Nice!
  20. Well, its obvious that Ford Mustangs would be appropriate vehicular representations of horses and bad experiences all together. (Flame suit on: Cue the Ford vs Chevy wars!)
  21. Then model car shows would no longer be vision/talent/skill/technique competitions, they would be 'how much can you afford to spend to buy this trophy' events. Anybody seriously interested in that should just go to a trophy store and buy a few to take home and display ... they can make up whatever awards and titles they want. The trophies would be meaningless to anyone else.
  22. Oh, that's purty, Drew!
  23. Whoooops. My bad. I was either inattentive or just plain suffering from HUA syndrome. Sorry! Beautiful build anyway, Drew; even if I don't know what the heckler I'm looking at!
  24. Drew Hierwarter has this one posted in "Under Glass," Gregg, if that helps any. Photo is of engine in car with side panels in place, so it's not too definitive of the overall engine. Mine's still in pieces-parts.
