  1. I heard the song "Panopticom" on the radio recently, a college station, so it's getting a little airplay.
  2. There are other volumes available at Hathitrust. Scroll down the page: https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/002582551

  5. Wild's out of Princeton, Ill. First I found the image on eBay, then the slideshow video on YouTube.

  7. Nixie tubes are back in production. https://www.daliborfarny.com/
  8. Several years ago I picked up a resin '57 panel truck, maker forgotten.
  9. The thread did explain the graphic, and yes the project never came to fruition. It's been over a decade now. From the time when there were rumors of useable JoHan tooling.
  10. This old Greek mechanical object didn't age well....
  11. Years ago when I was part of the folk open mike scene I had heard of places that were rather competitive, though those that I frequented were always friendly and supportive.
  12. Steve is from Massachusetts, and years ago he was involved with one or two model shows here. I once won a copy of his DVD on building 1:1 altered wheelbase cars. He is a cool guy.
  13. I haven't studied all the pages of the thread, but much of the construction is brass. You may skip to page 7 to see photos and videos of the completed model. It is steam powered with radio control. https://www.mylargescale.com/threads/hiawatha-f7.84593/
  14. My father and grandfather were both involved in computer programming. I grew up with reams of blue-and-white printout paper to draw on, and the rather brittle plastic flow chart templates they brought home. Boston was a hub of early computer development, and there used to be a computer museum around here with mainframes and such on view. In regards to the video, I don't think the manufacturers anticipated a movement of crazy electronics collectors hanging on to their devices decades past their Use By date. ?
  15. I have read discussions on slot car forums where guys are converting 1:43 and maybe 1:32 scale diecast models to slot cars.
  16. I prefer mimes to memes. ? March 23 was the centennial of the birth of the legendary Marcel Marceau. He had a fun role in the '70s Mel Brooks film "Silent Movie". The film centers around an attempt to put together a production for a silent film (in their present day) while homage to the classic films. Last year I saw a special showing of "Silent Movie". While it does have a musical sound track last year I saw it accompanied instead with a live pipe organ (aka theater organ) as was the common way to see films in the silent era. I'm glad I finally got to see that film after all these years.
  17. This is a build blog, and so see the "History and Info" and "Restoration" buttons in the right-hand side of the linked page for more. The completed restoration is beautiful. https://texacotankerproject.com/38-diamond-in-the-rough-the-lucky-survivor/
  18. People would just complain the Packard was in 1/20 scale. ?
  19. I recall when the Surf Shark was released that a modified version was hinted at, a stock ambulance. The Surf Shark is mostly the Ectomobile trimmed down. New roof flasher lights are included and those appear to be stock Miller-Meteor units. Note that Miller-Meteor offered their hearses and ambulances in different models, so you will have some leeway in configuring your build. Time will tell if Round2 has changed the interior bucket this time around.
  20. 20 years ago Eurosoft was everybody's favorite putty, but I just never got along with it so I hadn't tried it since.
  21. It's just the nature of that plastic. Unwarped examples may be worth more since warped ones will be more common. ?
