  1. If your not sure what a doodlebug is, it's what people used during the depression & during WWII for a tractor. If you couldn't afford a tractor or you couldn't buy one (during WWII) you built one using old parts from what was around. Model A Fords were popular for this because Henry made millions of them & they were easy & cheap to fix. Just get rid of that pesky body, shorten the frame, add a transmission and your off. I've had many over the years, this is what I learned to drive on, skidding logs & moving stuff in the junkyard. I still have it today & use it often, it's a 1933 Ford School bus my father cut down & added a Mercury Flathead v8 & an old wrecker boom. Anyway, here is one of my models of one, a 29 Model A with 2 transmissions & a trailer made from parts. I built the cross cut saw from one of my worn out hobby blades. The last picture is of my real 33 Ford Doodlebug!
  2. I had this left over from a school bus stock car hauler I was building. So I decided to make a storage shed like the one my father had in the junkyard when I was a kid.
  3. Here is my old Dodge pickup with a scratch built slide in camper tow hitch & bike hauler.
  4. I started this a while ago & I'm thinking about finishing it or trading it. The hard work is done, I used a 68 elcamino bed, frame & interior. It stalled so I just don't know if I want to finish it.
  5. Just playing with some stuff in the nice weather.
  6. Great build. I want to do a 1979 Ranchero so I was wondering what you started with to make this?
  7. Looks sweet! Great paint!!!
  8. This is my old 41 Chevy wrecker. I built the boom from scratch, used some old slot car gears for the hand crank & it all works pretty good.
  9. Here is my 1930 Model A Ford doodlebug tractor. I started with some left over parts & scratch built what I needed. I wanted a tricycle front end & a worm gear rear. I added 2 transmissions & wired & plumbed it.
  10. I had this sitting around & it was nice & shiny but it looked like a toy. So I gave a redo, just in the other direction!
  11. Looking through the site I came across this section & was blown away by all of the artists here! I had to laugh when I found some old pictures I did over 30 years ago & figured everyone else should laugh along with me!!!
  12. Thanks, ya I wanted to put it in the under glass section but I had a brain fart. The bikes are some diecast toys I found years ago at my local dollar store.
  13. This was a stake body kit that I wanted to build a rollback out of but after building the short frame by accident I ended up building a wrecker out of it. Everything from the cab back was built with Evergreen & Plastruct styrene. The booms swing out and the tow bar goes up and down.

  15. Here is my 34 Ford yard truck.
  16. Hi these are some trucks that I've done from the Dukes of Hazzard tv show, my favorite show as a kid!
  17. This was an old built 53 Ford kit I had that needed something done to it. I changed it to a 55 by sticking in a y-block & changed the grill. I built the Manley style working wrecker boom & body from Plastruct & evergreen styrene. I like doing junkers, I know it's not as cool as the pristine models that are done but they're fun to do.
  18. Hi, I started this a while ago. The cab was an ebay buy but it was bad so I cut the back off & made it a crew cab. The cab has been sitting around for years & I finally figured I'd do some work to it. I stretched the frame & built the body from scratch. I have more pictures but I can't load them, something about the size of the picture or something. I'm not a computer person at all. This & ebay is about all I can handle. Anyway I'll get some more pics as I go & hopefully I'll be able to load them.
  19. Thank you to everyone here for all the great compliments! It's nice to see you guys enjoy the work we do & not just point out all the inaccuracy in things, & god knows my work is full of them.
  20. Hi, I'm new here so I figured I'd show a build I did some years ago. I built this hippie bus because I live about 15 min. from the original 1969 Woodstock festival & it's a familiar thing around here. It's all hand painted & the interior was made from scratch. Just figured I'd post something cool that I've done. Thanks for looking!
