  1. Ya in the picture I have there it looks like the hood is loose on the Gatlinburg truck. I have yet to get there but hopefully one day. I had my honeymoon in Gatlinburg but it was years before there was a Cooter's Place. Your right about the junkyard, it needs LOTS of patrol car parts. Good luck with Daisy's Plymouth, it sounds like a real tough project but I'm sure you can handle it.
  2. Wow I really like the way this is coming out. Another great creation!!!!
  3. I built this to put in my garage years ago.
  4. Cool I can't wait to see your junkyard, hopefully you'll have lots of banged up General Lee parts (doors, fenders, hoods) The yellow wrecker isn't the one in Gatlinburg, it's the 3rd one I did years ago. I ended up selling it on ebay so who knows where it is now. I have pictures of the one in Gatlinburg one on an old camera but I can't get them off because I lost the cord.
  5. It's a Japan made kit Hasegawa 1967 VW Volkswagon Type 2 Pickup Truck
  6. Well thanks again Mark, this is a cool story to be part of & I'm honored. If you go to www.junkyardmodels.com my friend puts pictures of my stuff on there for people to see. It's not everything I've done, I've been building for over 30 years, but some of them. I'm really bad taking pictures of stuff when I'm done & trying to use the computer for anything other than ebay is a challenge for me. I'm just now doing the Model Forum thing & it's very cool. I get to show some stuff, see peoples work, get new ideas & now make new friends. Let me know what you think & please be honest, good or bad. Thanks again, Mark
  7. When I read your reply I laughed for about 5 minutes, me being famous to anyone is just crazy. It's nice to meet you & nice to know that someone likes my builds. It's funny I have a huge Dukes collection, everything from a bar of soap to General lee pedal car To a real Charger in the garage waiting for a General Lee makeover but I never keep the models I build. I'm glad to know the wrecker is still in Gatlinburg. Well, you are famous to me now for doing this Diorama because it truly is a Museum quality piece. I've never seen someone do something like this with such attention to detail. You are an artist for sure. Again I'm glad to meet you & I can't wait to see whats going to happen next in your little Hazzard world!
  8. I built this for a friend. He wanted one built like the one his uncle had when he was a kid. It's just box stock nothing fancy at all.
  9. WOW!!! I can't get over this thing!!! Perfect in every way!!! I wish I had the ability to do something like this & a place to put it. I've done some Dukes cars & trucks over the years but this is amazing!!!! I like your yellow ford wrecker. I built one back in 2000 & brought it to get signed by Ben Jones "Cooter" & he liked it so much that I ended up giving it to him, he wanted to put it in his Museum. It's been moved from one to another over the years. I think it's in the Gatlinburg shop now. It's not as nice as yours or the other one I did but it's cool that he has it. Here are a few of my Dukes builds...
  10. Thanks guys for all the positive feedback. Douglas thanks for the idea of leaving a wall loose for taking pictures. I never would have thought about it & would have been aggravated taking pictures. My old garage was glued together & it worked but this will be so much better for sure! That's what I like about showing you guys this stuff, a new set of eyes can help out alot!!! Here's my old garage & I have no good pictures of it.
  11. This looks great! I wish I could do one this nice.
  12. Thanks Carl, I too have heard the term "sheet rock" my whole life & I guess it just stuck. I was a little worried about trying this but it seems pretty strong. When I removed the paper I used a wet sponge to make it come off easier. I did the scribing with a knife while it was still damp & then didn't touch it for a full day to dry. I used an acrylic gray with water too wash it & that's it. I'm going to hit it with Testors dullcote after I get the walls glued together, right now they're just sitting together.
  13. I started a new garage and this is what I've got done so far. The walls are made from sheet rock, I removed the paper from one side & scribed the lines for the blocks. The bathroom is about done, I made the toilet, sink from pieces of sheet rock. I put some stuff in just to see what it might look like but I don't think it's going to stay this way.
  14. Thanks guys! Your right Brian my father had a Sears conversion for a Model T years ago. I found some old pictures of it...
  15. If your not sure what a doodlebug is, it's what people used during the depression & during WWII for a tractor. If you couldn't afford a tractor or you couldn't buy one (during WWII) you built one using old parts from what was around. Model A Fords were popular for this because Henry made millions of them & they were easy & cheap to fix. Just get rid of that pesky body, shorten the frame, add a transmission and your off. I've had many over the years, this is what I learned to drive on, skidding logs & moving stuff in the junkyard. I still have it today & use it often, it's a 1933 Ford School bus my father cut down & added a Mercury Flathead v8 & an old wrecker boom. Anyway, here is one of my models of one, a 29 Model A with 2 transmissions & a trailer made from parts. I built the cross cut saw from one of my worn out hobby blades. The last picture is of my real 33 Ford Doodlebug!
  16. I had this left over from a school bus stock car hauler I was building. So I decided to make a storage shed like the one my father had in the junkyard when I was a kid.
  17. Here is my old Dodge pickup with a scratch built slide in camper tow hitch & bike hauler.
  18. I started this a while ago & I'm thinking about finishing it or trading it. The hard work is done, I used a 68 elcamino bed, frame & interior. It stalled so I just don't know if I want to finish it.
  19. Just playing with some stuff in the nice weather.
  20. Great build. I want to do a 1979 Ranchero so I was wondering what you started with to make this?
  21. This is my old 41 Chevy wrecker. I built the boom from scratch, used some old slot car gears for the hand crank & it all works pretty good.
  22. Here is my 1930 Model A Ford doodlebug tractor. I started with some left over parts & scratch built what I needed. I wanted a tricycle front end & a worm gear rear. I added 2 transmissions & wired & plumbed it.
  23. I had this sitting around & it was nice & shiny but it looked like a toy. So I gave a redo, just in the other direction!
