Thanks guys. I got a little paint on & it's way too clean, but it wont be for long. Gonna build a wrecker boom for it too. I just can't stop building tow trucks. -
41 Willys
mchook replied to mchook's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I started to build the bed. I used the sides from a 50 Ford pickup & the 40 Ford coupe rear fenders. I had to widen the fenders a little & made the inner fenders. -
I started with an old box of parts from a "Moving Violation" kit & an Ollies 37 Ford kit. The chassis is from the 37 Ford & cab from the Willys. I cut the rear fenders from a 40 Ford coupe kit to use for the bed. Gonna go old ratty tin on new running gear. This is what I have so far...

The best $50 I have ever spent
mchook replied to 426 pack's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
WOW $50 BUCKS!!! Great find, I thought I got a deal at $200 for this old Charger & it was a lot worse than your Satellite. Good luck with it, I love to see them saved & not crushed. -
When you REALLY love models on Ebay....
mchook replied to Southern Fried's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Your right, you couldn't live on it but you can make a little here & there. I sell everything I build on ebay & most of the time I do O.K. The most I've ever got for a model was over $500 on my Hippie bus. I'm sure not making a living from it but it gives me extra money to buy more kits & supplies. Sometimes I even have enough left over so I can take my wife out for dinner. I enjoy "the build" more the the finished product so for me it's easy to sell something I have a lot of time & work into. Plus it's cool to see what people are willing to pay for stuff. -

Yes it is. It's all "evergreen" styrene & it all works too. -
Let's see your Big Rig Wreckers!
mchook replied to Jordan White's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wow, these are some amazing trucks! I don't know if you guys consider it a "Big Rig" but here's my Ford C600 I built years ago. -
I love it! This is one of my all time favorite cars. Beautiful job!
-
I got this & a few others back in May at a car show. It was an old build that was brush painted & a rough build (lots of glue). Now it looks rough but in a good way.

1938 Ford COE
mchook replied to crazyjim's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This truck looks great! I know what you mean about the thickness on this cab, the one I built was the same way. I love the 40 Ford headlights, that's what I did with mine too. -
eBay's newest crummy trick
mchook replied to ChrisBcritter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I noticed this too, but I did find out that if you click on the word "listing" in the blue line reading "The listing you’re looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you." you can see the original listing. Nobody will tell you this at ebay, but it works. -
What did you see on the road today?
mchook replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My father found this in a barn over the weekend with 2 trailer loads of Model A & T parts. It's all been in there for well over 50 years. It's a Model T Ford that they used on the farm. We put some gas in it & a battery but the starter was dead. I told my father I'll crank it by hand, after a spin we heard the coils buzz & about 4 cranks later she came alive. It sat there & idled like a new car, it was still strapped to the trailer so we didn't check to see if it would move on it's own. Maybe next weekend we'll go for a spin. -
That is weird! But probably the coolest Impala I've ever seen! Any pics from the front & rear? GREAT WORK!!!
