  1. Which silicone do you buy? Is it 50:50 blend?
  2. Dave, Rule of thumb for resin is you ALWAYS prime before painting. I usually use Tamiya primers, but I like Duplicolor or Plasticote sandable primers for resin.
  3. Very nice!!! What paint did you use? Looks like one of the Testors One Coat lacquers. Marc
  4. And, Fotki has a special that ends August 15. $20 per year.
  5. Here's my '73 T/A I built. I need to do a photo shoot as I do not have finished pics of this one. I built mine with a phantom Canadian SD 455 motor (big block Chevy with Pontiac rocker covers). Not factory stock, but hopefully will provide more inspiration and incentive to continue with that unbuildable kit. Like you, I have way too many MPC second generation Camaro and Firebirds in my collection and, like you, hope to build 'em all.
  6. Actually, the color you want is Solar Gold. If you have access to model paints, Tamiya Gold spray would be a good match. Carmel is too brown and too dark. Rockford's gold is the same as the gold special edition T/A's. BTW, I looked at your profile and saw that you are only 13? Congrats to you for building models instead of spending all your time playing video games LOL! Nice work you do, especially for your age.
  7. Great start there, Chris. You might be able to save some time by adapting the inner fenders and underhood details from the AMT '70.5 Z/28 or Baldwin Motion Camaro kit, and perhaps that kit's entire chassis as well. Check it out. And, if you have any of those "unbuildable" old MPC kits, feel free to send them to me.
  8. Thanks, George! Been awhile...you know how life gets in the way. The primary interior color will the same gray as the instrument panel. Seats will be tutoned with a lighter gray color and a dark charcoal flocking for carpet.
  9. Thanks, Tom for the comments. I had to remove the center ridge from the rims that hold the kit tires on. Once you do that, the wheels will slide into the Pegasus 23" sleeves and the fronts as they are will accept Pegasus tires. The front sleeves I used were custom made for me by Duane @ Arrowhead about 5 years ago.
  10. Not much progress this week on the Cyclone. Busy work week and back to school and college preparations with the kids have slowed my progress. I did manage to paint and detail the instrument panel today. The molded in gauge detail was removed before painting with Tamiya TS-67 IJN Gray. Then, BMF was applied, masked off and TS-29 Semi Gloss Black applied. Unmasked and wiped the cast trim panel with 91% alcohol. Gauges are decals from a Revell Honda Civic tuner kit. R&MofM Wizard's O's were applied for gauge bezels and Tamiya X-22 Clear applied to the faces. That's all for now. Marc @ MPC Motorsports
  11. When you order from places like Micro Mark, it is not cost effective to purchase one small item like those polishing pads. Looking at their website, they have a flat $8.95 shipping charge for orders $50 and less, and only a buck eighty more for the next $50. When I buy from them I try to group my purchases in order to maximize my bang for the shipping buck. Most mail order shops work the same way.
  12. Cruz, The Rotary is a great concept!!! I noticed in your pics that there is a lot of room that the engine could be set back. Have you thought about modifying the chassis and perhaps the tunnel in the interior to accomodate the tranny? Setting that Wankel against the firewall would not only be more realistic, it would sure assist in the weight distribution of a drag car. Marc
  13. You're off to a good start, Pat. Haven't seen you around much lately. I always deepen the door and trunk lines when possible as it makes your model look better. The vent windows should not be too difficult. Get some .040 x .040 Evergreen strips. I've managed to pick up two AMT '67 Camaro annual builders that already have the side vent glass in place. Marc
  14. That's cool! Did you use Testors Inca Gold?
  15. Ron, Great idea! With a long term time frame like a year from now, I can handle this one. I'm thinking either a '64-67 GTO or '67-68 Firebird. Most likely the MPC '66 GTO that I barely stared about two years ago. It was a builder that I stripped the paint from and started smoothing the body of its trimwork. The plan is to build a car similar to this one that was featured in Popular Hot Rodding in 2007. Marc
  16. Very nice!!! Makin' me thirsty for a Sun Drop. Too bad you can't get it in Oklahoma.
  17. Did some detail paint work on the Cyclone today. Masked off the engine compartment and rear taillight panel, broke out the airbrush and laid down some Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black. Spent about 90 minutes between BMF and masking for a 10 minute paint job. Before I painted, I applied from fresh BMF to the taillight panel trim and Cyclone script. After painting, I painstakingly removed the paint from the trim and script with a cotton swab soaked in 91% alcohol. Still have a little clean up of black paint around the bodywork. Digipics are good for seeing these things. Enjoy!!!
  18. The Cyclone remains the center of my attention at this time. It got six coats of Tamiya TS-13 Clear Gloss Friday night and after 12 hours in the dehydrator, I spent the afternoon wet sanding and polishing. This was a very tedious task as there are many sharp edges and peaks in the Cyclone's body work. All the chrome is just a mock up as it made a public viewing at tonight's club meeting. Next up is painting the taillight panel and engine compartment matt black. I'll apply BMF to the taillight trim and Cyclone script before painting. Enjoy!!!
  19. Kit bashing at its finest! The roadster's "big n littles" are perfect as well as the flattie. Great job!!!
  20. That long roof Imp is FREAKIN' SWEET!!! Everything about it is perfect. I'll have to remember those wheels and tires for when I get around to doing my pro touring '65 Imp HT.
  21. That's exactly what Round 2 did, Rob. In fact, some of the recent Dukes kits had that body in it too. I provided John G. @ Round 2 with a Dukes kit that featured the F&F body and an F&F kit so they could get it right.
  22. Erik, It would be safe to assume that the fit of the Daytona Charger nose cone has not changed. But, with a little work, you could build one that looks as good as the new box art. Marc
  23. Is the collection worth $150k? Probably not. Would I buy it if I won the lottery? Heck yeah!!!
  24. Good luck finding any. Is there a particular color you are looking for? Rattle can or bottle? Why not try www.blackgoldweb.com for the "real" House of Kolor paints?
  25. Got an AMT '69 Mustang annual builder. Not the current ex-MPC version, but the original AMT. It was a nice kit for a good price. It's already disassembled and soaking in the purple pond. I have an unbuilt one so now I have two. That is, until I get my next order from Missing Link for two resin ones. I have plans to build a '69 Mach 1, Boss 302 and Boss 427 in 1:25 scale with one left over for something else.
