What in the world is going on here. It's got some Lil Red Express mixed in with some DoH but on a Chevy truck. The California part is weird also!

If you go to a hardware store and get some wire in the color of your choice, you can wrap it around a piece of sprue to coil it up. This would be a good choice if you plan on doing a lot, and cheaper also.

I'll probably get a few of these. Love the 64s and the low-rider culture.

Looking for some modern street tires to fit the wheels from the Moebius 1969 F-100. Or if there is a company that makes steel wheels in a bigger diameter (18"-20") that comes with modern street tires. The kit ones are a bit too big sidewall-wise. Thanks!

1969 F-100 Custom Cab

First, thanks for the interest in this build. This kit is a blast to put together and I’m enjoying the scratch building. Here is our update tonight. First I got the top of the tubs set in place, glued, and puttied. No going back now (I hope)! Next, I decided that the inline 6 needed some boost. The turbo is from the CAT D8 kit that I have for parts. I’ll clean it up some and make it look more authentic. Plumbing this will be fun. Here I already started to work on the exhaust for the turbo. It will come down out of the stock manifold, towards the back of the engine, then up to the turbo. The turbo will be where the red is. The putty is to clean up the seams and make it look like one pipe. Last we have the crossmember I made to replace the stock one. Still need to put motor mounts on and place it in its final spot. -

I agree, much easier and cleaner. Thank you for the kind words! Thanks! The bed is my favorite part also. -

Here is the update on the front tubs. I’ll still need to fabricate 2 more pieces per side as well as a battery tray. I really like how they turned out. If you look closely, you will see how they are notched to fit the firewall. It is a tight fit, I think the small gaps will be filled in nicely with primer as well as a thin putty. They will sit flush with the top of the fenders. -

Thanks! Here it is finished. The tailgate will top it off. I need to decide if it should open or not.. -

Here is an update for you all. No more I beams, no more fender wells. I have a lot more to do on the front suspension. As now it doesn’t look great. I have also started building front tubs, since the wheels were hitting the stock ones. -

I looked around and saw some stuff, but my kit parts were not lining up right and I was interested in some scratch building so I went ahead and cut the I beams off for control arms. Maybe on the next one I’ll take more care with the I beams. -
Hi all, I have began (again) a stalled project. This is the Moebius F-100. So far I have done a flip in the rear so the axle is over the springs. Up front I am still fighting with the I-beams and getting it to sit right. Tonight I just raised the bed floor instead of just putting a cover over the C notch. Hope you enjoy. I still have to finish it up, trying to simulate bare sheet metal.

Peterbilt 281 Needle-nose "Duel"

That’s the one that comes in the Freightliner COE kit, correct? -
Congrats! This is a great build. Can’t wait to get started for Vannonball

I’ve been wanting one as well. Looks like a good kit. Those Japanese models just fall together so nicely.

Peterbilt 281 Needle-nose "Duel"
Rusty92 replied to Rusty92's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wow! Thanks for that handy information. I’ll see what I can come up with for a Cummins or a Cat engine. Really appreciate the info here, sir. I topped off the air cleaner tonight, it will work well. Thanks for looking! -

I know many of you have been waiting for some progress. I finally got some bench time tonight after dealing with a crazy semester at college. Feels good to be on break. I assembled some more of the engine after stripping all that chrome off. I then began working on the air cleaner for the semi, as the kit one seems kind of cartoony to me. Still new to scratch building and it isn't done yet, but i think it looks more accurate (a lot more) than the kit one. What do you all think? The old Detroit. From what I can tell, this should be Detroit green right? I saw a lot that were white, but a lot that were their signature green also. Here is the Duel truck and air cleaner. Here is the kit one compared to mine: I think mine looks pretty good! And here it is sitting next to the cab. I'll have it sitting a little lower. The seems will be facing the cab so they are not visible. Comments are always appreciated! -

Neat piece.. might have to get one. This is just as cool to me as the Hyundai Azera kit by Academy. It's cool to see a "normal" car. Thanks for sharing! -
Weird that it is on the RG site.. maybe RG and RUSA stuff will be sold separately? The full detail does look nice.
-
I'd be in it for one of these if the windows are molded open. Just bought the fire van but what is one more.

Thanks Rob.

This is a terrific build. Really enjoyed the detail on the underside. Especially the rear-end setup.

Very nicely done! I look forward to competing in the 2019 "Vannonball" with you.
