  1. Thank you, Mike.
  2. Craig, as with most other stuff on this build, I'll probably have to make them myself (how I don't know yet). The grilles started out as .010" sheet styrene, then 020", wrapped around a wooden plug, then formed with a lighter. Didn't like them, so, glued 2 pieces of 060" sheet together drilled, cut and sanded the inside out to form the taper on the inside top and center of the grille. I tried to make the parking lights, but gave up and cut the lights out of a mpc 1967 gto kit that I bought for the Pontiac motor (it is pretty crappy looking motor and I will probably get another motor later). Honeycomb mesh from detailmaster.
  3. I started this model a couple weeks ago. It is a model of my 1:1 race car. I am using a jimmy flintstone resin of a 1972 Pontiac Ventura. This is my 2nd model I have built since I started modeling back in February (after a 60 year hiatus). My first resin body, first time scratch building, first photo etch experience. I have made some progress, but it is slow going (OCD kicking in, I guess. Grille is almost finished (try to post a pic tomorrow). Help and criticism always welcome. Ron
  4. I like the trumpeter panel line tool, but the umm-USA scr-01 scriber has a better feel and I rarely ever go "off line" with it. I had a lot of trouble with the back of an x-acto blade. It worked better using the blade only, but never as good and consistent as the scribing tools. Ron.
  5. How about a piece of tool box liner? Ron.
  6. Outstanding job. I don't agree with the classification (A/GS) as this denotes a supercharged gasser, but a beautiful build. Ron.
  7. Thanks for info. Love the emergency brake cables and brackets. Ron.
  8. Beautiful job. What carb is that? Curious as to why no thin white stripe on the sides of the large white stripe(s)? Ron.
  9. Outstanding, as usual. Did you do the fold down rear seats? My brother had a 40 ford business coupe many years ago and I remember the fold down seats on that car. Guess they were for Mr. Businessman's briefcase, hence the name business coupe. Ron.
  10. A/S and A/SA were 8 lb classes, I believe. The weight breaks were in half pound increments down to I or J (8.5 for B, 9.0 for C, etc.). Divide Nhra shipping weight by horsepower ( 335 for the 383, I think). So, I would guess the car to be in E or F stock. Headers were allowed, aluminum intake only if it came stock on the car from the factory (roadrunner did not). 7 inch "cheater" slicks (had 2 grooves on tires). Hope this helps. Ron.
  11. Thanks, guys. I was afraid of that. I have a 1:1 1974 gto (race car) and would like to build a model of it, but my skills are limited (have only built 2 models since this model car "addiction" hit me 3 months ago). Ron.
  12. Anybody know if this body and/or kit is available in regular or resin mode? Thanks, Ron.
  13. Just discovered your 1966 nova builds. Thank you very much, sir, for your posts. They should be required reading for all newbies. Again, I thank you. Ron.
  14. Just what I needed to know. Thanks very much, Brett.
  15. Anybody know the dimensions of the tires in this kit? How wide and how tall are the slicks and the front tires? Thanks, Ron.
  16. I like the black wash grill better. How about the photo etch with molotow marker? Ron.
  17. Your builds are awesome. Brings back memories of watching the 1-1 cars. Don't forget the 427 badges on the front fenders. Ron.
  18. Nice job. I especially like the color. What paint did you use. Ron.
  19. Thank you very much for your input, guys. Ron.
  20. I see a number of model kits for the hardtop, but none for the sedan or post type 1966 nova. Can someone tell me what is involved to convert a hardtop to a sedan or are there resin kits available? Thanks, Ron.
  21. As a neophyte model builder (it has been 60 years since I built my last model) I hesitate to question someone of such obvious expertise as yourself, but, shouldn't the Holley carb be the same zinc like color all over and not just in the center as yours is? Your willingness to share the details of your build is much appreciated by newbies like myself. Thanks, Ron.
  22. Thank you, gentlemen. PM sent, Rick.
  23. I am making some progress. The body foil is done, now finishing the detailing on the interior. Gonna make the T-handle 4 speed shifter tonight, hopefully. I have found a (close enough) intake manifold. I have 3 engines coming from Ebay (2 with headers)that I will look at and choose the closest appearance to the Hooker super comps. One engine will have the correct (4gc) carb. The front tires are still a problem. Most stockers and super stockers run about a 28 inch tire with 4.5 inch tread width and overall width of 6-6.5 inches. In 1/25 scale this equates to 1.120 inches tall by .240 overall width. The closest I can find (T-46 from scenes unlimited) are Continental (!!!) front drag tires with an o.d. of 1.022 and .260 width (about 25.5 inches 1:1). I really don't want to buy another kit to (maybe) get the right tires. Surely someone on here has built a stock or super stock and come up with a suitable front drag tire?? Thanks for the help guys. Ron.
  24. More newbie questions. Availability of edelbrock single plane T-M 1 type intake manifold for small block chevy? Also, front drag tires (7.10-15 in 1:1) moroso preferably. Is it my imagination or do all the carbs in model kits have less than average detail to them when compared to everything else in the kit? I base this only on the limited pictures available of carbs and the 1 model kit I have. Thanks, Ron.
