  1. #18 The glasses with my new prescription came in, so I was able to get a little more work done on the 512BB. The doors are hinged with a metal pin that goes through the hinge on the door and into the floor then the top of the pin is captured with the dashboard. I also got the pop up headlight assemblies attached. They have switches that stick through the bottom of the model so they can be opened and closed. All I have left to do is install the main body onto the rest of the model. Hopefully I can get everything to line up properly. More next time.
  2. I just finished this one box stock from the Aoshima kit. The paint is Rustoleum color shift. And here are my Liberty Walk builds together.
  3. Nice! That color is great. I'm working on one, it's a fun kit.
  4. I've always liked the Aventador because of its sinister look and in flat black they just look downright evil. This is an awesome kit. The instruction manual is a full color magazine and some of the decals are printed on foil so they can conform to the surface.
  5. #18 The wheels I ordered came in. I had some tires from Trailer Trash Kustoms that fit just right. I had to narrow them a bit to fit the model. Pieces from an old hanger fit the wheels perfectly so I could use the metal axles from the kit. I drilled open the centers of the brake rotors to fit the new wheels and I found some calipers from a 360 Modena on eBay. The caliper that was molded to the front rotor is now the parking brake caliper on the rear rotors. They look really nice on the wheels. And here they are on the car. More next time.
  6. There were six kits in this series, there was also a Countach. I found the 512BB and the 308GTB at my LHS, they had several of both, but none of the others. The 308 is a full curbside, the 512 is a semi-curbside with an opening bonnet and the top of the engine visible. I don't think they were an official tie in. The guy in the 308 looks suspiciously like Clint Eastwood. I thought it would be fun to built the 512 for this year's cannonball and, theme permitting, maybe the 308 next year.
  7. #18 The doors are out of paint. I decided to delete the vent window to put a little mod in this restomod. And I was able to get the hinges and door panels in. Trimming the package tray worked a treat and the body fits nicely. I need to get the headlights out of paint before I can permanently attach it. I ordered some wheels off an F430. I think they'll look good. Hopefully they'll fit, we'll see when they get here. More next time.
  8. #18 I got the main body out of paint and started installing the glass. This kit has working pop up headlights. I held off on painting them until I got the body painted just in case there were some clearance issues. I'm glad I did, they're going to need a little tweaking. The rear of the body has to slide in between the engine and the package tray. I think I'm going to have to shave the package tray back a bit so it will fit properly. More next time.

I built this from an old Lindberg kit, the awful one with the terrible translucent plastic. I started this as a design study and wasn't planning on building it completely. I wanted to see how the proportions would look if I moved the rear of the roof back and extended the doors 6 scale inches. I ended up liking it so much, I went ahead and built it. I modified the chassis from a Revell '41 Willys Street Rod and the wheels and tires are from an AMT Phantom Vickie.
  11. A buddy of mine gave me this kit years ago when I daily drove a 1:1 M3. He had cut open the hood, trunk and drivers door and I just wasn't able to save the body. When I ran across this resin wagon transkit on eBay I knew it was the perfect solution to save the kit. My buddy passed away a few years ago, so I wasn't able to show him the finished model, but i know he'd like it. The license plate is the name of the model club we were in.
  12. #18 Spring has finally sprung and brought some nice painting weather. I'm going with a black/red two tone. Because of the way this kit was molded, the only parts I actually had to two tone were the doors. Because I got the lower half of the car painted I was able to get the interior installed. Considering this is a former motorized toy, the interior is amazingly detailed, it even came with the seat belts. I was also able to get bonnet installed. I'm thinking some modern large diameter Ferrari wheels would look right at home on this, hopefully I'll be able to find a nice set. More next time.
  13. I built this Revell T3 Westfalia using Tim Kolankiewicz's tips from issue #213 and a bunch of orange stuff I had from my T2 build. I made the plates, everything else came from the box. And here she is with her big sister.
  14. That's way cool. It reminds me of a truck that would drive around the city I used to live in. It was all different colors, like yours, and had a sign on the back that said "this truck was built with all used parts" then had the name of the wrecking yard and their phone number.
  15. #18 I started on the interior. This kit came with a sheet meant to be cut into 2mm strips to make seatbelts. It also came with hardware for the buckles. I'm going with a tan interior with a black dash and carpet. Another cool feature of this kit is that the floor trim is molded separately from the floor pan. It makes it a lot easier to have a different color carpet like many of the 1:1 cars do. More next time.
  16. I built this replica of Tej's '63 Galaxie from the AMT kit. I got this kit years ago in a lot of kits that had already been started. The body had been painted but nothing else had been done. After I stripped the paint I repainted it black, I only used one coat of clear so it would look a little dull. The wheels and tires were missing, but since I was going to replace them with ones from a '67 Fairlane kit, it did matter. I printed some movie correct plates. Everything else came in the box.
  17. I just finished this replica of Dom's Impala from Fate Of The Furious. The car wasn't in the movie very long and it was hard to find reference photos online. From what I could find, it seemed like it had custom wheels and custom exhaust on an otherwise stock car, so that's how I built it. I built it from the AMT kit. I modified the spindles to get the stance I wanted. I modified the exhaust with solder and some aluminum tubing. The wheels and tires are from Pegasus. The brakes and antennas are from my parts box. I made the plates.
  18. You did more than just save it. Great job!
  19. #18 I actually thought the drive train from the new Corvette might fit in there nicely, but one of the reasons I like the BB so much is the flat 12. Maybe I can save that idea for the 308 I also got from this series. I did some detail painting on the molded in parts on the "engine" and got it assembled. While I was at it I painted the calipers on the front brakes. I thought it was odd that the front brakes came with calipers but the rears didn't. I'll have to see what I can dig out of my parts box. I also did some detailing on the lights.

I built this from the AMT kit. Even though 8 wheels is movie correct I couldn't imagine 4 more wheels appearing out of nowhere, so I modified the kit so it would only have 4 wheels. It needed bigger rear tires, so I grabbed some from my parts box.
  21. I didn't have anything in mind for this year's Cannonball, but after picking up this Cannonball kit I just had to enter it. It came with this cool map of the Cannonball route and some info about the rally. Between Google translate and my Japanese grandma, I was able to get most of it translated. The instructions came with diagrams on how to wire up the motor and led lights, but it didn't come with the motor or lights, so I guess I don't have to worry about any of that. This is all the stuff it came with for the batteries and to wire everything that I won't be using. It even came with a toothpick and a small tube of glue. It has opening doors, hood and headlights. It's a semi-curbside kit, with only the top of the engine. The molded in detail looks pretty nice though.
  22. My LHS bought an old collection and there were several of this kit and the Ferrari 308 from the same series, but none of the others. I grabbed 1 of each.
  23. I would like to enter this year with this Ferrari 512 BB.
  24. Thanks! No, I actually built that one to test some paint I special ordered. It was supposed to be Midnight Purple II, but just ended up being a really dark purple almost black.
  25. Happy New Year everyone! I got a lot done in 2023, hopefully 2024 will be just as fun.
