Wrecker truck
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks. If you look close in some pic,s you can see what i am using as a reference for the paintscheme on it. Its not going to turn out exactly like it anyways because the sleeper is not high enough and i think it will just look weird if i try that. Also think it will look a little better once i have cleaned up the black stripes on the hood and added one around the gold to try and match the cab. -
What modern US truckkit exists?
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for those links Jim B but if i buy a AMT T600 i am just going to build it out of the box and not change anything. That is if i buy one.. I know how mad i got over some of the other AMT kits i have built and if i try this i might explode and fly off in the sunset? Those kits no one said anything about and to have one that several people warns about is probably not the best idea for me to try? Or everything just falls toghether with only the usual problems (highly doubt that) Or i will just wait untill i find a T600 from revell at a normal price on ebay as i know revell,s kit dont have any major problems when building them -
What modern US truckkit exists?
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought so. So the t600 is so old that it is from the 90,s? i thought that it atleast was from somewhere on this side of 2000. I suspected that they did something like that to save money and just being able to make a new body fit on an old existing frame. Is that also the reason why almost everyone says that it is a pain to build? The revell kenworth T600 is probably built on the frame from their T/W900 kits. -

PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Got the cab almost done and the hood only have some small details left untill that is also done. The sleeper is nowhere near done but i am getting closer to it. Then i just have the wreckerbody left to paint so it matches the rest of the truck... After that i can start building again -
I was wondering if there are any more modern US truck kits from middle of the 90,s and forward that exists? I only know about the international lonestar and prostar that are 2 of the more modern kits. The kenworth t600 also seems like it is one of the more modern trucks Are there anymore or are there just those 3? All Us trucks i have seems to be from the 70,s-80,s and it would be fun to have some other more modern kits to show how they changed designs and some other things on them. Eurotrucks are there alot of modern versions of that are out. Take Scania and Volvo as a example, if i wanted to i could build one for each decade from the 60/70,s and forward up untill the newest model they have on the roads today.

Prevent maskingtape from pulling paint with it?
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Sometimes its both the primer and the paint that comes off with the tape. I try to remove it as soon as possible to prevent it sticking itself to hard and ruining everything. The paints that usually gets lifted like that are those from a spraycan, sometimes its regular brushpaint acrylic or enamel does not make that much difference. Only thing i have noticed is that they seem to be able to stick better and dont lift that easy and if they do its just a small part that can be fixed quick. Might have to try tamiyas primer on one to see if i have better luck with painting. -
How do you prevent the maskingtape from pulling away the paint that is under it when removing the tape? I always have this problem any time i need to use maskingtape to protect the paint and it is really starting to irritate me by now. I have tried several different brands of tape, roughed up the plastic before painting it, used primer and let it sit for a few days and then let it sit for a few more days after i am done painting it. But almost always there will be a section of paint that will lift of when i am removing the tape. When i am removing the tape i am being carefull and doing it slowly instead of just ripping it off. The tape i used last is not that sticky so i thought it would not be a problem again but it still is... What am i doing wrong?

AMT to Rebox Italeri Kits Plus other Announcements
PierreR89 replied to steel_tiger1's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
If they do i think they will sell well. Look at Revell and their smaller truck kits in 1:32 they would have stopped the Kenworth a long time ago if they did not sell well, now they even have another truck in that scale to. I know a few people who want to have a truck model but after they have seen my trucks and how much space they take if it is pulling a trailer they think they are to big or have no space to put them after they are done building it. -

PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Slowly getting to where i am starting to be happy about the paint on it, still alot to do.. Bottom stripe on the hood is not that far off from the cab that i thought it was going to be. No one will notice after the aircleaners are mounted on the cab anyways. The bullbar is roughly where it will be when it is time to put that on. -

Have done some painting during the week and now it is just some touch up left to do on the cab sides and hood. Next up for paint is the sleeper and wrecker body, and hopefully the stripes will line up when it is mounted on the chassie Bullbar is also painted and have some small things i have to fix on it before it is done. -

This is the reason why i almost never post anything in the workbench section. I dont want people to tell me that i did X,Y,Z wrong and its not accurate to the real thing, and should have painted certain parts in another colour then i did. By the time those pic,s were shot and uploaded i could be along way ahead of that and i dont want to tear down several hours of work just to fix something small. I dont build them because i want it to be an exact scale replica. I build because i want/need to be left alone and need to think about something else for a few hours and just having fun. Now there are a few times i ask for help about how to do something and those i appreciate all the advise, that some people do it this way and other does it that way and i can try what works for me. I also look at anything i find interesting here and if i like it i say something, sometimes i look at it and like it but still dont say anything. Then there are times i find something and dont like it but those times i dont post and keep it to my self, who knows it might grow on me and i like it later? I am one of those who have a disability and likes to build but you are never ever going to see a perfectly straight line and straight parts (mirrors, stacks, etc..) becuase i simply can not do that. It is extremely frustrating and i do the best i can as the others do. Imagine how frustrating it is if you do your absolut best and by some miracle it turned out even better then you thought and are somewhat proud to post a pic of it. Then someone comments example: Why is the split between the 2 colours/part's not straight? its not that hard (insert smiley here to make a joke of it) Well acctually it is really hard for me, especially since on bad days i can barely write my own name with a pen anymore and having it readable, or eating or drinking without dropping, spilling.. But thanks for trying to make a joke out of it as i dont already feel useless because something so simple for others is gone for me and my model building days are also about to run out because of it. The above has never happend on this site and is just an example. Is it perfect in their eyes? no probably not. My own? no, i would like to be able to be as good as some here are but its never going to happen nomatter how hard i try. Sofar no one here have said anything about anything of my posted builds having parts that have a slight lean to them or not having perfect paintlines if there are several colours on the model. I really thought i was going to get it when i posted my Superboss because that one is no where near perfect even in my own eyes..

Looks awesome. I like the angle you got on some photos where it looks like the lights are turned on. -

Here is a preview of how i am going to paint it. There are 2 more stripes i have to add, one gold and one brown. (Extra internet points for who ever can guess what i am trying to replicate with the paintscheme on it) Bullbar is also ready for paint now. -

PierreR89 replied to Ken Gilkeson's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Looks really good in that colour. I dont think many trucks could pull it off without looking odd, but it fits this really well. -
Kenworth w925 + fruehauf trailer
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
They have everything and you will get some left over to. The gold stripes on the front and rear doors of the trailer you get 3-4sets left over. The reefer unit if you want to have one on the trailer also have a couple of extra stripes for it. There are a few other stripes that you also get left over. So there was no real worrying about screwing up a stripe or 4?. Only ones you dont get extras of are the main ones on the truck and the trailerwalls. -
Finally found this Chevy Bison on ebay and bought it. I have been looking for it for a long time. I have already bought its "sister/brother" truck the GMC General. I know they are exactly the same kits with different decals but i wanted one of each to have displayed when i have built them.

1980 Volvo N-10
PierreR89 replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Looks great. My dad used to drive one when i was little. His was a gravel truck, it was the same yellow and had a silver dumpbed. They had 2 trucks, the N10 and a F12 and they used both for what they were good for, the F12 could get in to tighter spaces then the N10 could thanks to it being a cabover. Now that company and trucks are long gone. -

Nice, it reminds me of the Foodtankers trucks that you can see from time to time on the road. Yellow cab and black roof. -

PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I started to build the frame for this earlier today and testfitted the engine. Had to modify one of the framerails because i think i got the oilfilters to far out from the block so they hit the frame. Will figure out the correct position for the engine once i have got the radiator in it and then go from there. Cant really decide what color the engine should be in, i know the E9's are grey, but i am thinking of having this in gold. Already know what color the truck should have and you just have to wait and see, also i am not sure that i can pull it off but going to try anyways.
