  1. I was looking at aitm,s website and got very interested in building one of their Brockway conversions kits. There are 3 models i am choosing of and it is the 361, 760 and 761. Which of these models did have the option of the detrit v12 or you could get it in anyone you wanted? I am thinking of building it like a winch truck (never see winchtrucks or Brockways in Sweden anyway so it would be a fun truck to have in my collection) What truckkit is a good chassiedonor for the conversion ? Or is it best to buy the mack heavy duty chassie that they also offer? I did a quick search and it looks like some of them was based on mack trucks. How did the hoods open on them? Were they the normal flip front or did the open the hood like the autocar where you just lift the sides?
  2. Looks great. I have that kit to that i am going to build sometime. What color did you paint the roof on it? is it the same color as you painted the lower deck or something else? All pics i have seen of this built they have all been different, some were wood color, some were green and some were black. Do anyone know what color they were on the real boat?
  3. Use this for mostly long trips and when i dont feel like driving my ZJ Its a 1997 Chevrolet suburban K1500 with the 6.5td v8. It also has the heavy duty drivetrain and frame in it because it has the 6.5 v8 in it. Heavy duty = 8lug wheels, axles from the 2500models, stronger suspension and external coolers for the engine oil, transmission fluid and powersteering + a huge radiator for the coolant. Skidplates almost everywhere under it and front and rear AC. The previous owner did have it tuned by a company here that only do the 6.5 engines so it has way more power then a stock does, it moves when i want to. The speedo only goes to 180km/h and after it has bottomed out it is still accelerating.. I only plan on replacing the exhaust to a more freeflowing one to get more power from it, i already put in a open airfilter so it gets all the air it needs compared to the stock airbox that has a big restriction befor it goes to the turbo. And because of that i can hear the turbowhistle even at idle when it is warm. I might be a bit childish but its fun to get the turbo to dump pressure when driving through the town i live in and alot of people just watch and wonder how this thing can make that sound because vehicles like this never do that. ( dont worry i know how to get it to do that while driving the speedlimit or slower)
  4. Thanks. Yes it could be for those who wanted to build a showtruck. But for me that dont do that and wants to build them as they would have looked the day they left the factory (must learn how to weather a truck properly) its just annoying with to much chrome. I also find that many of the chrome parts break much easier then those who are not chromed so that is also a reason why i dont like when there is to much of those parts.
  5. Looks great. My DM600 was the same way with almost everything you mentioned so i also supected the molds for that to be worn out. Can only hope that they dont use the same molds for the rereleased DM800 as the have on the 600 (everything but the v8 engine, hood fenders and radiator for the 800 is included in the 600 kit) If they use the old molds for the DM800 it will probably be easy and fun to build (like mine was as it was an ERTL kit and not a rerelease) The 600 was just a pain to build with every part in it having some kind of problem or i just got a kit that should have been rejected?
  6. Thanks. Yes there is way to much chrome in this and the DM800 kit. And personally i think that there is way to much chrome in any of the AMT,s truck kits (atleast those that i have) Tanks, grilles, badging, horns and smokestack i can agree on to be chrome but when gearleavers, steeringlinkages, steeringwheel, brakecylinders, oilpan + other engineparts, airtanks, and fifthwheel gets chrome to then its way to much. Well atleast they didnt chrome the seats as Heller did in their Scania 141 kit..
  7. Made the last things on this one today. Painted almost exactly the same as my DM800 it does not show up on any pic,s but i got the wrong can when i painted the frame so instead of normal black it is black metallic. If that had not happend it would be exaclty the same as the DM800.
  8. Thats true, it could have been worse. I was worried about parkinson but it was not that.
  9. Not today but a few days ago. That a doctor told me what the problems with my hands are. They shake whenever i try to do something that requres small fine movements such as building models or using a screwdriver to release or tighten a screw. Apparently i have esential tremor (a neurological disorder) It usually gets passed along in the family but no side of my family has it so i am one of the "few lucky ones" that gets it for no known reason. Feels (something that would get me banned if i wrote it) that i am not even 30 years old yet and being told that i need to take medications for the rest of my life to keep it under control. It will only get worse with age and there is no cure for it...
  10. Thanks. I bought it just because of the wolf decals and that it was a Ford because i wanted something different.
  11. I looked around a little, there are no (unintended) left over parts and part 148 in this kit is for one of the rear trackbars to the driveaxle. However in the ford aeromax kit the spacer you are talking about is included. A little odd that both Revell and Italeri (this is from Italeri) dont mention anything about that in the LTL9000 kits as all of them have the same cab and all of them would probably tilt like this without it. But its no big deal to make one my self and the cab should come of with a little carefull bending.
  12. Could be, but those front mounts are molded in to the framerails and if i had lowered the interior there would be a big gap above the instrumentpanel that also would be seen from inside the enginebay. It could possibly also be the rear cab support that is to long and makes everything tilt forward because it looks worse in the pic,s then it is. But i will give it a try when my shoulder wants to cooperate more with me then it does right now...
  13. Just take your time with it and eventually everything will line up. It might take some time, i had to fight the multipiece cab on my Ford for about 15-20 minutes before everything lined up good enough for me to slide in the interior in it and making it stable. Then just set it aside and dont touch it for a while while the glue dries. On the multipiece sleepers i have found it easier for me to start with the floorpan and the rearwall, after that the driver side wall and then put in the bed in (if it has one) it as it will keep those two walls straight. Then you can mount the rest of the walls and lastly the roof. The multipiece cabs and sleepers will always mess with you in one way or another..
  14. Made the last things on this today so its done. There is some fitment problems between the hood and cab so the hood will not close properly. I think that one of the pieces that makes up the hood is warped due to its age and i did not notice it untill everything was painted and i was going to mount it on the frame.
  15. This have been done for a few days now exept for a few small things, like i forgot to paint the steps on the passengerside, have the shiftlever laying beside it and not glued on the front bumper to the frame. I tried but something got wrong when i built the cab or frame so the cab will not line up with the chassie or close properly so it just sits there now.
  16. Always wanted to build one of these boats and found one on Ebay today.
  17. Got done with this a few days ago. There is no shiftlever in the cab because the hole in the floor did not line up with it the lever stays on the frame where the other gearbox linkage is mounted so i would never be able to close the cab. The front axle is to narrow for the cab so i think Revell got lazy and just used the axle for the T900/W900 The engine is not the right color at all but i am getting tired of painting almost every 6 cylinder engine beige/tan and wanted something different this time. Not that happy about the white part of the decal where the red shines through and some other things on it.
  18. Thanks. Yeah i missed to check that part to but i can live with it. Afterall it is a dumptruck, the mudguards on them dont last long in real so they have been "ripped off" when someone asks me about it Edited in 2 pics of the engine in it.
  19. A few things. First that my uncle who had ALS passed away last friday. Then on mondaynight i got a call that an old friend of mine had been in a car crash and did not survive. I talked to him on the phone about 30 minutes before it happend.. Then my bad shoulder has decided to act up bad, have barely been able to move that arm the whole day. My elbow is also giving me a hard time right now as i can barely move that arm because of it So i have 2 arms that are out of order right now... Some might remember that in my Scania build i said that my hands/fingers are constantly shaking because of something, today i finally gave up and called a doctor so that they can look at it. Because the last week they have been really annoying in not doing what i want to everytime i try to something that requres small fine handmovements i have just had to give up. That is also the reason why some of my new builds are only shown in the showroom because i am not that happy about how some things turned out when i tried to do something extra and my hands ruined everything.. On the next one i post there (sometime tomorrow) some might be able to see alot of mistakes that were made because of that.
  20. I do that almost everytime after i have driven an manual for a few days and jump in to any of mine Also do the opposit sometimes when i forget about that clutchpedal in a manual when trying to take of in one.. Only done that twice sofar..
  21. Over here almost everyone knows how to drive a manual transmission. Most drivingschools here only have manual transmisson cars because they kind of go by "if you learn in a manual car and pass the drivinglicence in a manual you are also allowed to drive an automatic if you want" But if you do the other way around you are only ever allowed to drive cars with automatic transmissions. Some choose to do that not because they are lazy but because they have some kind of illness or other problem. My girlfriend is going to get a licence for an automatic just becuase she has MS and sometimes her legs goes numb and stay that way for an short time. So she is thinking that if that happens when she is driving it is easier to get an automatic to a safe stop by getting the foot of the gas and in the worst case use the parkingbrake to get it to slow down and stop. Do that in a manual trans and you kill the engine and end up with no power nothing to help her get it to stop and turn off the road. I know how to drive a manual and sometimes it is nice to drive in one just to get a break from the automatic trans in my jeeps and trucks.. When i worked as a truck mechanic it was also good to know how to drive a manual as most trucks that came in were manuals, but many of the brand new ones was automatic.
  22. Been building this for a few days now. I did not want to use the mudflaps that is included in the kit because i simply did not like them also the rear mudflaps would not fit without touching the rearwheels.... Also found out that i dont like 2 part tires as they were a real pain to get to hold toghether. Will update with pics of the engine tomorrow as its to dark now to get good pictures of a darkblue engine in a black enginebay... The decal on the hood is from Italeri,s Peterbilt 377A/E
  23. The Revell kit is in 1/24 scale so the meng engine would probably fit in it. But i am not going to buy their hummer kit just to steal the engine from it even if you barely can see it when you open the hood (just like the real ones) Converting a 454 sounds like a better idea, i think they are about the same size in real to. It could be fun to try to convert it and if i am unsure i can just go to my parents (where the truck sits right now) to check if i am unsure about some things. Or open the hood on my Suburban that has the 6.5TD in it as they are basically identical exept for the turbo.
