AHHH AHH OHHH UHHH AHHHHH One of my all time favorites been done by one of my favorite modelers..... I want it! I used pictures of that car as reference for my Gurney Eagle, especially for the front suspension. Looking forward to see it done! Thanks,
-
Started to work on the box stock interior. Just added embossing powder. Thanks,
-
Nice! I'll be following this one closely. You are doing a great job as usual.

Hello, I want to keep this as stock as possible. Yellow cars usually have black interiors. However, if I had painted this black it would disappear and nothing would be seen. So I painted it Humbrol dark grey. Embossing powder was used for the carpeting and the color for the seats was custom mixed using interior tan, light brown and a hint of dark tan, all Model Masters. Thanks,

I'm in a first row seat with my Boy Scout pop corn enjoying the show.....

Hello, Some color! Still pending clear. I hope to clear it early next week since I'm heading out now for a few days. Thanks,

Hello again, One interesting feature of these kits is the one piece chassis plate. The engraving is nice and crisp, but still one piece. Detail painting should bring it to life. The metal axle is visible simulating the half shaft, but it looks too plain. Sooo.... just for fun I machined the half shaft boots Also, I found some steel wire that were yelling "use me!" "use me!".... so I did these lines. I'm not sure what they are but I guess it could be fuel and return lines. Not sure about the third one, but I don't think it is for brakes. Thanks,
-
Nice job a one of my dream cars from my teenager years! I have that kit as well. Maybe I should get it out.... Thanks,

Hello, OK this slump has been way too long. It will be a year now in October so it is time to force the issue. One good way to get out of a slump is with a quick simple build, and nothing better for this than a Tamiya kit. Just put the paint inside, shake the box and out comes the built model There is a reason why Tamiya is the benchmark of the industry. I've never been a big Nissan fan. In fact I used to hate the brand. But their Z line has always been very competent, from the 240Z back in the 70's to the 280, 300, 350 and now the 370Z. I found this 350Z kit at a good price and thought "Why not?" I'll try (keyword **TRY**) to keep it as box stock as possible. Unfortunately the windshield was broken. I already contacted Tamiya (Thanks Harry for the link) and I hope for the best. In the meantime, let's roll! Let's start with the body. Mold lines were carefully sanded and primer was applied to check on the progress. A bit more sanding and they were gone. My favorite primer was applied: Plastikote T-236 Upon close inspection mold lines are not visible, so we are ready for block sanding the primer and apply a bit more. to be continued.......... Thanks,

Here they are. However, Arrowhead is having problems. Duane is having serious health issues. Not sure if they are still taking orders. http://arrowheadaluminum.homestead.com/AVW01.html -

Howard, The resin body is from Jimmy Flintstone. Not bad, but it will test your patience. Mine was particularly challenging. Thanks for your comments on the aluminum wheel covers. I designed them Thanks, -
Hello, AARRGGHH!!! Just to get out of the slump I bought my first car model in a year, since last October. A Tamiya Nissan 350Z. I've never been a big Nissan fan but this should be a quick easy build just to get the mojo back. Or So I thought: I opened the kit and noticed the windshield is broken Anybody knows how to contact Tamiya? Or anybody happened to have an extra Tamiya Nissan 350Z windshield? AARRGGHH!!! Thanks,
-
Estas vivo!!! Nice job...

You are referring to the AEROVette. This is the ASTROVette. They are 2 different cars, about 5 years apart. The AeroVette is Revell. The Astro is MPC and has never been reissued. Thanks, *EDIT* I mean the real cars were about 5 years apart, but the models were not. The MPC model is from around 1970 and the Revell AeroVette is from the late 90's -

Marshall, I took these pictures back in 1995 when the car was at the Indy 500. The blue interior was changed to black very early on, probably even before hitting the show circuit. I've only seen one GM picture with the blue interior. The interior is factory stock except for the steering wheel. Keep in mind the 1968 interior is unique. The ignition switch is the dash, not in the steering column like '69 and later. The car is also automatic. It was restored in 1992. Sorry for the crappy pictures. These are scans from small faded prints. I'm trying to locate the original negatives. Thanks, -
Nice! One of my favorite cars. I built one a while ago and had a lot of fun.

Sorry, couldn't resist. That's my father next to me checking on the progress... He was hungry Thanks,

Cool! That's interesting. I started scratchbuilding a supercharger a long time ago, (actually for a C5) but this may save me some time.... Thanks,
-
Billy, Be aware of a slight fit problem with that kit. The front wheel on the driver's side is nor perfectly centered in the wheel well. You need to enlarge the mounting hole so you can move the wheel/brake assembly forward about 1/16" maybe a hair more. I'm curious about the supercharger you mention. Which one do you plan to use? Regards,
-

That depends on what you are looking for. For domestic models, I've had excellent experience with Model Express http://www.modelexpress.net/ Japanese kits: HLJ Japan http://www.hlj.com/ Aftermarket as well as some kits: Strada Sports. EXCELLENT service http://www.stradasports.com/ Resin kits: Island Collectibles http://www.islandcollectibles.net/ For aftermarket and supplies, there are quite a lot of great suppliers. Too many to list. Hope this helps. Thanks,
