  1. For the life of me I can't find where I wrote the formula! I mixed it 2 years ago for the Ferrari 612ig interior, and I had enough left for this project. I remember using Testor's Model Masters Dark tan, military brown, deep yellow and a touch of Chevy engine red. Unfortunately I can't find the ratios. I think I posted the formula on the Hobby Heaven board over 2 years ago and it was one of my last posts there. As you can see I did many trials and batch 12 was the final one. Thanks,
  2. Hi, This looks more comfortable than my couch, but if you get some Armor All in it and take a curve at more than 15 MPH you'll end up thrown out of the car Custom mix leather color (Testor's enamels) black wash, light tan drybrush, finger rubbed for sheen. Thanks,
  3. YUP! Been there done that. I usually end up changing modeling topics altogether from cars to helicopters or airplanes or military. Then I get frustrated again with the Mi-6 helicopter I've been scratchbuilding for the past 12 years and go back to cars again. Saludos!
  4. Cool! Nice job. I want to start on mine. So many projects so little time..... Thanks,
  5. Hello again, This car was a true roadster with no side windows. So the window cranks are out of place. I carefully sanded it down. One down one to go. Now you see it, Now you don't This is the kind of little details that even if nobody else notices, are important to me. After all, I build for myself and I'm my toughest critic. Thanks,
  6. Nice job! I love those cars but the decals keep me away from them. Thanks,
  7. I checked that model and it's going to be tough with that camera. It has no macro setting and there is no optical zoom. The digital zoom feature is useless for this application. The minimum focusing distance for that camera is about 40 inches. Do you have any type of photo software you can crop an image? You can try the portrait setting, no zoom, highest resolution (5MP). Try with and without flash and see how they compare. Try to have as much light as possible, like outdoors but not direct sunlight as it will confuse the light meter. Then using a photo editing software you can crop the surroundings. Or you can send the picture to me and I'll crop it for you. Hope this helps! Thanks,
  8. Wow! That is so cool! What kit is that? I love it. Dan Gurney is a true legend and a favorite. Thanks for sharing!
  9. Call me weird, but I love electrical wiring I need to check it: If I hit the lights switch the horn goes off Thanks,
  10. OK, First of all you don't want to use portrait setting. you need to use macro setting. Portrait will focus about 5 feet from the camera. Macro is for closeups. Find the macro setting and keep the flash off. Start with that and we'll take it step by step. Thanks,
  11. Harry, the pics are FULL of Focus: Ford focus that is dyimirage, what camera are you using? let's start from here and see how we can help. BTW, cool concept Thanks,
  12. Beautiful job! Love that color.
  13. Hello, After some unsuccessful attemps at doing my own horn trumpets for this project, I tried improving the kit's parts. Here you can see the before and after. Still some additional fine tuning but it looks way much better. Thanks,
  14. I don't want to hijack Chris' thread, but yes, mine is blue. But mine is not exactly box stock. I converted it to a 2003 996 GT3 among other things... link: http://puertoriconet.com/images/porsche/gt3.htm Thanks,
  15. Cool! That came out very nice. Interesting color. I love that kit. Cal, several of us have built that kit here on the forum. It's a wonderful kit. Thanks,
  16. Hello, There is a missing link in my conversion of the '32 Chrysler into a '33 Imperial Pace Car: The wheels. The Pace Car used chrome "Artillery wheels" but the kit has wire wheels. Here is another look at those wheels. Several modelers are helping me search but no luck so far. Any idea or suggestion where to look or where to start? Thanks,
  17. I'll follow up this one as I have that kit started as well.
  18. While not surprising that is very cool to hear! I want a new Camaro. Can you guys help me convince my wife?
  19. FINALLY!!! It is taking shape! I like this chassis so much it's a shame to cover it with a body Thanks,
  20. What kind of a sick person builds models mostly of the same subject line? Oh wait....... I do too Nice Skyline. It looks great in orange. Personally, I prefer the looks of this one to the new one. Thanks,
  21. The brass, plastic and aluminum exhaust system looks promising. I only hope it fits together Thanks,
  22. Last working feature! I promise! At least for now. steering system done Now I need to paint and assemble everything.... Thanks,
  23. Hi, Reasons to replace some kit's steering system parts with brass: - Really round - Scale thickness - works better in moving parts - looks overall better - it's FUN! and here is the video on how it works: Thanks,

    Audi R8

Cool! I want to get one of those soon....
  25. The "string dusted white" thing you mention, does it look like cotton candy? If so, that is called "veiling" and it means paint drying in the air before hitting the surface, so you get paint dust particles in the surface instead of atomized liquid. You need to sand it down as adding more paint will not help. To prevent that you need to increase the pressure (I use 20-25 psi) make sure the paint is thinned enough and get closer to the surface. Way too many variables can contribute to this, including those less likely, such as a faulty regulator that may be reading wrong. Good luck! Thanks,
