  1. Hello, In this installment: The kit's hood and decklid hold downs are nice, but not good enough for him. In fact, his look even better than the photoetch units which are flat. I have a pending conversation with him for a few questions I've received about this build by email and PMs. Thanks,
  2. Thanks Danny, That was original. The top of the line engine was the 385 cu in inline 8 with the head painted red. Appropriately, it was called the "red head". You see, Ferrari DID NOT invented the Testa Rossa (red head in italian). As with most of my builds I try to go for historical accuracy. That's why I enjoy "factory stock" and "documented replica" builds. Thanks,
  3. Finally! Some color! First color coat. I put a strip of white styrene for color reference. Psychedelic image isn't it? Thanks,
  4. but I'm not aspiring, I'm ibuprofing badam bum! boooo boooo boooo boooo boooo
  5. My experience with Hobby Link Japan (HLJ) has been very good. I have received orders from them FASTER than from some mail order retailers in the US. Personally, my treshold is at least 3 kits per order. Less than that and shipping is considerable per item. Still, shipping is reasonable considering my kits go halfway around the globe and can get more frequent flyer miles than me The only drawback if any, is that many items are usually out of stock or backordered. Other than that they are great. Thanks,
  6. Wow! I found this beauty on YouTube. They sync film footage with the radio broadcast of the start of the race in 1955 and did a marvelous job! Thanks,
  7. Tim, you had me digging up boxes that had not seen light in over a decade Here is the racing boat. I lost interest when I started thinking on a wild tiger stripes paint job and how to make the engine steering work. I have since then lost all other parts. This is the trailer I started to scratchbuild for the Miami Vice boat but in 1/25. I lost interest when I started fooling around with working leaf springs for it And this is the 1/32? Miami Vice boat I started to convert to 1/25. The seat and steering wheel are from the parts box, most likely from a '70s van and a Model A pickup respectively. The seat is in a piece of aluminum tubing like a bar stool. I lost interest when I started fooling around with the idea of a '67 Corvette hood as engine cover, but then I wanted to put a 427 in it and scratchbuild the rest of the powertrain etc etc. Do you see a pattern here? I tell you, it's not easy to be diagnosed with "overcomplicaditis" I even built this to pull it... Who knows, some day I may get back to those Thanks,
  8. Nice website! PM sent....
  9. Over 15 years ago I started converting a Miami Vice speedboat (1/32ish) into a 1/25 boat and I also started a F1 race boat. I even started scratchbuilding a trailer for it. The F1 has been in primer for over 14 years If I find them I'll post some pics... Thanks,
  10. Did I miss P-51s on the flyer?
  11. YAWN! Nothing on that flyer for me... except maybe, just maybe, the Hind helicopter if it's the old Monogram in 1/48, which I started 15 years ago and lost it since then..... Well, at least I'll save money for more paint and parts
  12. More progress pictures. I'm enjoying this build as if it were mine (yeah I wish) Thanks,
  13. Thank you very much Cal! I have this kit and plan to start on it soon. Your information is very valuable! Regards,
  14. Here is the video. I still get goosebumps to see it Enjoy ZR1 at Barrett-Jackson
  15. Nice job on that kit Jameston! I remember we talked a little bit when you were starting your biz. I'm glad to see it blooming! Can you ship out of the lower 48? Cal, I have that kit and I am thinking on starting with it soon. I'd like to know the details. Maybe in a separate thread or PM so we don't hijack this thread. Thanks,
  16. The ZR1 is already out there. Where is my 1/25? I can not afford the 1:1 and I need my fix...
  17. If I can not finish the car by the show, at least I can show the engine in the miscelaneous table I really like it. Flathead inline 8. Ferrari DID NOT invent the Testa Rossa (red head) http://images41.fotki.com/v1245/photos/1/1233394/6240133/DSCF8038-vi.jpg http://images41.fotki.com/v1254/photos/1/1233394/6240133/DSCF8041-vi.jpg http://images40.fotki.com/v1250/photos/1/1233394/6240133/DSCF8042-vi.jpg What do you think? Thanks,
  18. The only giveaway I saw to know it was a model was the windows. Having them been fully down I wouldn't be able to tell. The antenna looked funny but it was not enough to be sure.
  19. Felice sent me more progress pictures. These fully functional working scratchbuilt buckles are for the hood. I love the 2 smaller lines coming out of the main hose. What's this? Fuse panel! Yes, I have already insulted him on behalf of all of us and told him we all hate him Thanks,
  20. I was going to use the plastic bottom pulley but then.... ehhh what the heck! These all go black. But it's hard to resist leaving them shiny like that.... Thanks,
  21. ... jingle bells, jingle bells jingle all the way.... Ohh how fun it is to wire a flathead inline 8...
  22. In today's installment of this monologue: We finally see some color. Hey! I'm already at step 1 of the instructions!!! Which ones look better? the plastic pulleys with the generator in the air? or mine? Too bad it all goes painted in black. You can also see the block is a bit dirty of older oil and a hint of grime. It is hard to keep these things clean you know.... Thanks,
  23. Hi, I found this text in a page about the history of the 330 P4. I think they ran Good Years in CanAm but I'm not really sure. "The redesigned 5 speed gearbox, mated to a rear-mounted differential, was beefed up to handle the additional output of the big V-12. Forghieri chose Firestone’s which were noteworthy for their significant increase in width over the previously used Dunlop’s." Hope it helps. Thanks,
  24. Hello, Nothing is more dangerous to an engine than a startup without oil. So I made this home video to illustrate the simple procedure: Thanks,
