  1. OK, on to the body. The resin body is pretty nice Cheesecast resin transkit. But there are some missing pieces. Rear brake scopes, taillights, gas cap, windshield and rear window, and the headlight covers. The Corvette C2 parts box came in handy including a front clip which yielded the headlight covers.
  2. The engine compartment and interior are done. Now moving on to the body.
  3. Made some progress in the last few days. After assessing my aged shaking hands, I think the engine compartment is just about done. The interior still needs seat belts, the big fuel tank, and a shifter. I have already shaved off the radio on the dash leg.
  4. I like the Atlantic a lot. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Good point. I tried that before and it worked well.
  6. I checked the Accurate Miniates kit has a simple roll bar hoop and in the early photos one is visible.
  7. The difference in scale between the Accurate Miniatures kit, 1/24 and the transkit 1/25 led me to use the MPC donor kit. Not accurate but easier. One mystery I have not solved yet is a roll bar, or not though it does have the birdcage like the production version. Harold Bradford also made a transkit in 1/25 scale.
  8. I was sorting through my kit stash and came across this Cheescast 1/25 resin transkit of the earliest Corvette Grand Sport. Further searching found a MPC 1964 chassis and interior. One of my favorite kits due to the detail included. I also found a Fred Cady decal sheet which will work. This Corvette was raced in April 1963 driven by Dick Thompson for Grady Davis (Gulf Oil vice president for research) at the Marlboro racetrack in Maryland. the chassis and engine went together well except for the rear trailing arms which had to be removed because of the larger kit tires. A stock engine was used originally except for the aluminum bell housing and transmission case. The body was painted with spray can white. At first I thought the hood was missing the vent inserts but then found the inserts were not used on the real car. A trial fit of the body on the chassis is encouraging.
  9. Looking forward to this build. Please keep us posted.
  10. I was convinced i had one of these, but I checked my inventory and shelves but no luck. Guess i am going to have to order one.
  11. Wikipedia says: The Chevrolet Corvette C6.R is a grand tourer racing car built by Pratt Miller and Chevrolet for competition in endurance racing. It is a replacement for the Corvette C5-R racing car, applying the body style of the new C6 generation Chevrolet Corvette as well as improvements to increase the speed and reliability on the track. Since its debut in 2005, it has continued on from the previous dominance of the C5-R in its racing class with multiple American Le Mans Series championships and race wins in the Le Mans Series, FIA GT Championship, and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Model wise Jada and BBurago have made 1/24 scale diecast and Braha made a plastic model without interior. As typical for Jada models the wheels are oversized and too bright so I removed the bodies and sprayed the wheels with a darker metallic color. Though the photo looks darker than it should I am much more comfortable with the wheels. Overall, they are a good addition to my racing Corvette collection.
  12. I have the kit, and your build is a very good incentive. Very well done.
  13. I suggest you contact Fantom Works in Norfolk. Dan Short has lots of models in his office so it seems he has an interest and could offer you some suggestions.
  14. Corvettes were no strangers to the drag strips, but these may be stretching the imagination a bit. Pro Mod - Danbury Mint Funny Car - JADA
  15. Thanks for sharing the Cobras. I was not aware that Welly had reissued their 427 SCs in different colors so ordered a white one.
  16. I was not looking for this 1/24 Danbury Mint Corvette when I found it and was really impressed. I ordered it and am convinced it is one of the best models from Danbury Mint in this scale.
  17. Attended a model show near Washington DC and got lucky with these 3. L to R An AMT 1964 Corvette convertible built but not bad and will be restored. A Welly Pontiac 1969 Judge. A Franklin Mint 1960 Corvair. My Dad was a Corvair fan so this was special to me.
  18. I was almost going to ask you Helmut about 2025 releases when I came across this post and links. Thank so much for posting this update.
  19. All are impressive builds. Thank you for sharing them with us.
  20. I've been away from the board for several months but recently was able to pick up these. A Buick Riviera by Maisto labeled as 1/26. A 1963 black on black Corvette Sting Ray promo by Revell. A 1967 Corvette Franklin Mint half and half, a holy grail find. A 2005 Corvette promo by unknown maker.
