Jaguar XK120 Race Car
Gramps46 replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
I built the first issue (1977) of the Jag with the metal body and do not remember the problems mentioned except for the fit of the hood. In fact, it is one of my favorite kits. I did change the wheels though and used wheel centers from a Johan kit for JWK651 -

Looks super. I built one and comparing it to your photos I see I have lost the rear frame tubes. Thanks for sharing. -

I have not been a big fan of JADA 1/24 diecasts because of the size and especially the wheels. But once in a while one comes along that catches my attention. This just came and it is a 911 decorated as a tribute to the 1970 Le Mans winning 917. It is also fairly unique in that JADA did it as a 911/996 with what many think has ugly headlights.

Porsche 934 & 935
Gramps46 replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Pierre I chose to build NUB 120 when the kit was released ages ago. I thought it was a great kit except for getting the hood/bonnet to fit correctly. Let me know when you decide which one you want to build. -

Very well done indeed. Thanks for sharing and offering up some inspiration. -
Our Rite Alds here were sold or closed. I would go there every other Friday morning. That is where I got my start with diecast.
-
Hey, I've ridden in that car.

Sure wish the CVS stores in my area carried 1/24 scale diecast. Mine only have the smaller scale diecast.

Tribute to Snake45
Gramps46 replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It has taken me a few days to accept that Snake has left us. We were friends. -
This just in. It is a Franklin Mint 1935 Mercedes Benz 500K Roadster Special. It came clean and with the tag, card, and brochure. What is special about this is it is dated 1983 and is the first Franklin Mint model car. It also appears to have an autograph on the bottom but no serial number. The real surprise was the eBay price of $9.99 with $12 shipping. What led me to it is there is a new 1936 500K being sold from China on the Bay but is shown as being 1/28 scale. I think I got lucky today even if my home air conditioning system bit the dust and is having to be replaced tomorrow.

Excellent!

Good job on the Astro. Your Sputofuoco Astro II in 1:43 scale resembles the Chaparral 2D in the same time period. Hmm?

Super nice build. Gary

Group 5 Special Production Cars
Gramps46 replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Rob, thank you for posting the photo and link to your review. I really wanted a model of this Le Mans winner and had gotten the Black Box kit but was disappointed with it and ordered the NuNu kit and now see it has problems too. I have always respected your analysis and reviews. Gary
