  1. I built this kit as an MPC labeled kit about 35 years ago, and don't recall having too many problems with it, so it must be a decent kit as I was 16 or 17 at the time. I did just buy another MPC version last year as I no longer have the model I built as a youth, but don't plan on building it for another year or two. I don't really pay too much attention to any minor inaccuracies that occur in some kits, so to me this one is just fine visually. I do agree on the tires being a tad bit off size wise, and maybe the wheels too, but overall it should build into a pretty snazzy model kit replica. 3D Model Specialties by Ron Olsen on Shapeways does have some 1/16 scale parts available, but I'm not sure if any would be usable on the Cobra kit, I guess it would depend on personal preference. Might even be other 1/16 scale parts suppliers on Shapeways too. Anyways, this is the box art for the kit I did way back when and just purchased another of last year... Also here are a couple of links to youtube vids.
  2. Absolutely outstanding! Well done as usual. You continue to produce some of the cleanest builds I have seen.
  3. Ha! That's actually kind of cool!
  4. Cool, yes. Crude, no. Inaccurate, don't know, don't care. I love seeing "inaccurate", "what if" paint schemes on NASCAR builds.
  5. Very cool! Nothing "cruddy" about them at all.
  6. Sweet looking Cutlass! That's a really nice shade of red and the color combo looks great.
  7. Definitely a different color choice and it turned out great. Well done!
  8. Nice job on the Nova, looks great!
  9. Another nice looking Charger! Well done!
  10. Sharp looking Charger! Love the color. Great job.
  11. Sharp looking Mustang! Very nice, clean build!
  12. Love the color combo! She looks gorgeous so far.
  13. Spot on!! Very nice job transforming the artwork into your styrene piece of art. I believe you've inspired me to make this kit a priority in the near future.
  14. Outstanding! Very nice looking Sunbeam.
  15. Very nice build! Great color choice.
  16. Absolutely gorgeous build! Well done!
  17. My new favorite paint job. Just a simple one color spray can job, but I love the color and it buffed out to a real nice shine for me. Testors One Coat Lacquer Icy Blue covered with Testors glosscote clear coat.
  18. Very convincing display. Great job!
  19. Very well done. I really like seeing these what-if cars and yours is one of the best.
  20. Awesome story and some cool builds to back it up!
  21. Thanks Curt. There's probably a lot of folks on this forum that have better ways to do it and can explain it better than me, but I'll try. I'm pretty sure I got the basic idea from someone on this forum anyways. First, I found an empty toy package still lying around the house that had a thin and hard, yet flexible piece of clear plastic big enough to cut the windshield out of. Any clam shell case or even a danish or donut case from your local grocer will probably do. I then put the kit windshield on the plastic and traced around it a little wider than the actual windshield and then cut it out. I then test fit into the frame and eyeballed where to keep trimming to get a good fit and then glued it in. In hindsight I probably should have heated it to get a bit of a bend or curve to it to make it fit better. I had never done this before and it was actually quite easy to do, as even I could do it. It did take me 2 tries as I trimmed too much off the first one, and I also made two extras because I have another of these kits to do and already know I'm going to need a thinner windshield. Hope this helps.
  22. Thanks Donald. Thank you Ray.
  23. Thanks Steve. Thanks Brian. I have another one to do but will probably be a while before I decide to go after it. Thanks David. Thank you Bruce.
  24. Fantastic as usual Randy! Never ceases to amaze me at how clean and nice your builds are.
