  1. What is the color? It looks amazing, these cars need to be painted in a dignified color. I picked up a lot of AMT Mercury parts, I could likely build 3 cars out of that alone. I have 2 AMT kits in the works, one is a resin body, the other is a Revell kit.
  2. I would look at the '66 Riviera chassis, it has a lot of detail over the OG '65 one. The '63-65 Riv is one of the best looking cars of all time. They rode very well too. I have a '65 kit, I may do it box stock-ish just to get it done. Maybe de-chrome the body and foil what I have to.
  3. Ww will be visiting the pistol bureau soon, my girlfriend needs to re-up her pistol permit. If the car is outside, I'll get some pictures of it, or ask if I can see it inside somewhere.
  4. I really should think about moving if a similar house in town pops up. I have a lot of equity in this one, so a lateral would be fine. I passed up one on a few blocks over maybe 6 years back. I still need a basement and a big garage. Where I am now, no close neighbors, a pool and nice yard. This would let me get rid of a lot of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH in general, my styrene footprint would remain about the same, but be better organized.
  5. I'm sort of sorry I opened mine up, I found it dissipointing, although I did build one when they first came out. I painted it metallic red, botched the decals and made it into a "MADMAN" across the deck lid. I will either give it to someone I don't like or use another interior and chassis under it. Going stock car... it just may happen.
  6. I got to rub elbows with some giants of NASCSAR, Winston Cup and pavement modifieds. I did travel briefly with a BGN team and did chassis set up with them.
  7. ^^ What he said. I did a flat red Nova recently and the decals did silver somewhat. Hindsight is 20-20.
  8. Thanks gents. I think I will be okay, the heart doctor has taken a good interest with me, since he helped bring me literally from the dead in 2016. He calls me one of his miracle babies... Getting the Belair and what I'm doing around the house and yard is great for me. I finally got past my lower back pain that plagued me from March to May. I had to walk around the house holding onto furniture and counter tops on the bad days of it. I feel a lot stronger than I have in a long time. I got badly hurt by a chiropractor in 2021, that took a long time to heal.
  9. I used to paint in the boiler room, I would spray down the floor with water before I started painting. Scuffing the feet is a great was to raise dust.
  10. Mine are still around, I had 6, see only 4 as of late. I hope they are okay. I went out to put out nuts and seeds this morning, found a dead Bluejay just over the deck rail. These are notoriously tough birds.
  11. Nice work, who makes the wheels? I have a love-hate relationship with these kits.
  12. I still see some builds that look like they were built in a dust storm, it covers EVERYTHING. I have asked guys at shows if this is an old build... figure they grabbed it off a shelf... but no, it was just finished. Don't be that guy. I pretty much paint outside and bring it inside. Most of the time, dust in the paint comes from YOU. I wear old cotton shirts, avoid anything that picks up a charge.
  13. Funny, I'm more tolerant of cold weather now. I can work outside when it is 45 in a t-shirt and no jacket. I did work outside for a long enough time, I never got used to working inside. The procedure is now changed to the 23rd.... gives me more time to work on the Belair.
  14. Saved too... they got Flexi File refills.... these I used to get at shows all the time, now they are scarce.
  15. It showed 2 areas of limited blood flow, new areas. The bypassed parts are still good. I feel okay, but can no longer get by with 5-6 hours of sleep. I do get my 8 if the cat lets me. He likes to sit in the window and howl at things outside at 5 AM... So I'll probably get a stent or 2. I've been with this heart doctor since 2016, he made the right call when I coded in the ER back then. My brother had 2 stents done last year and he is fine. I was waned after the bypass to avoid temperature extremes. I definitely do not feel good in very hot weather.
  16. That is the same car I believe. It goes outside on nice days. That year was when the SCPD started, they were Town of Islip (and other towns likely) Police before that. My uncle patched over at that time, he was SCPD badge #11.
  17. Nice, thanks. I have enough of these to experiment on.
  18. When he wrecked this car, the track crew started to cut the window net, the 1st time the F word was on TV at a race. Schrader was concerned that the owner Junie Dunleavy would have a canary about losing a window net, he was known to be frugal. Great build BTW...
  19. The black and white one I see parked outside of the Pistol Bureau over in Yaphank. Exit 57 on Sunrise.
  20. I use other things as a paint stand. Hard plastic bottles with a loop of tape on the top is pretty good. Aluminum beer bottles are great too and fit inside the body most of the time. Old pill jars, I'll tape a couple together. I use water in the vessels so they stay upright.
  21. Micro Mark. Their catalog just came in the mail.
  22. I have to try and channel my next one like that.
  23. I smooth out the firewall and fill the hood "hinge" holes on all of mine. With some surgery I have lowered the rear to match the dropped chrome front spring assembly. I did a '39 sedan and the one side, the rain gutter was 90% gone. I used some 1/2 round .030 stock to make a new one. Looks like your hood fits okay. I like the nailhead in it. I have a '40 in the works with a '56 Ford engine. I HAD to use the stock stubby transmission, but it went together well.
  24. Mixing brands/paint types... like starting out the evening with wine and switching to scotch. Be careful....
  25. Yesterday was cool in the morning and overcast. I got the oil changed. It was already converted to a spin on filter. Interior is vacuumed. I have to clean the rear seatbelts next. I also put new wiper blades on it. Also have new mats on order. The carpet is clean enough and now smells good. I'm waiting on the new sill plates, transmission filter, gasket and 8 quarts of ATF.
