I did some work on the Puma tonight, more specifically it's mounted rail gun. The ammo box is just tacked on there temporarily to show you how it all fits together. There are a few more details to add, but this is the jist of it. This will be remotely operated from the co-pilots computer console which will be visible in the cockpit. A couple things I'm finding tough about building somrething pretty much from scratch is building the components that I need multiples of like upper and lower a-arms. Also I'm really looking forward to painting this so in my head I'm like, "Looks great, lets go paint it! Wait........there are more pieces to be made and test fitted 1000 times before we can paint anything."

After it's on and cleared, I'd try giving a it a light sanding with some 800-1000 grit.

Yeah, the only model I have ever gotten into a Contest Annual met a horrible fate at the hands of a three year old my wife was sitting for, somehow getting into a locked closet. I was deployed at the time so I have only my wifes story on this. The corpse was left for me to peruse and it wasn't pretty. This is all thats left.

I usually do not care for how the smaller wheels that the lowrider enthusiasts like, because they often end up on much larger cars and look way too tiny in larger wheel wells. However those look right at home in those wheel wells. So far so good. I'd like to see it a bit lower, and some wild paint.

I think you are being too literal here. I think spare parts refers to spare "model" parts. Even if it is a "spare parts" build, you still need to use the proper tools to get he job done right. No one expects you to try to built this out of Tupperware and dried toothpaste. So instead of fighting with incompatable materials/glues, just get a sheet of styrene and some gap filling CA glue at the hobby store.

This doesn't surprise me. He's a car guy and an artist. Being a modeler is result of that. And man, if puts even half the dedication into his models as he does his drumming............wow.

Right now I'm building as frugally as humanly possible. So I'm making do with kits I already own, and buying only what I cannot do without. Mostly glue, paint and styrene stock. I figure I'm spending $10 or less per month right now.

Yep, I third that. Give the chemical a chance to attack the primer and after a while it will slough off like a snake skin.

I gotta ask here, what did you use to strip these? I have never seen plastic warp that badly in any commonly used stripper. Did you soak them in acetone or something? However, you have illustrated the very reasons why I never go back and redo old builds. Yeah my older builds are have lots of issues. However they show just how far I have come as a builder and I'm darn proud of them. And I NEVER pick them over for spare parts. With as many people as we have on this forum, a needed part is only a post away.

Very impressive. That's one of the most well done vinyl tops I've seen. Great paint work too.
