  1. Wow. Very cool. Amazing skills.
  2. I had a can of Krylon white primer, spontaneously rupture at the bottom seal. It sprayed paint all over the garage. I figure thats about as bad as it can go.
  3. Doc, that frame is from my TZH build that I posted to show the tires. The thread originator looks like he's building a Power Wagon 4x4.
  4. Umm.......nope. All my stuff is pretty well planned out. I have limited modeling time so I don't waste it.
  5. Okay guys time to fess up. Who's screwed up the paint/body work bad enough you just said the heck with it and got out the weathering tools and called it a beater/barn find? Or made it a post-apocalyptic / deathracer? And we want pics!
  6. Looks great so far. And Bob, the mods get crazy if you open up a new thread for every update. Just add more info to your original post.
  7. There was an aftermarket wheel/tire company going under a while back and they were selling off their stock pretty cheaply on Ebay and a lot of us snapped them up. I do not rememeber the name of the company, but the tires are just perfect. Check Ebay? Whoops found a pic of them in the package.
  8. Very few people here do this sort of things. My advice is to go to ebay and search using the keywords "pro built". Find someone whose work you like and then contact them through Ebay.
  9. Yeah Bill is right. Rob you need to lighten up a bit here. Safety is important but getting all worked up isn't helping. Lets just whittle this down to a simple sentence that Rob is trying to convey. "The overspray dust build-up in an exhaust duct can be flamable as well as the fumes." Good advice. Noted. Lets move on shall we?
  10. Wow. Donn that really looks sharp! BADUM BUMP! Thank you ladies and germs, I'll be here all week. Try the veal.
  11. Erik has come to my rescue with a pair of seats from a '62 T-Bird that will look right at home in the '49. The body is in final primer. Work is 7 days a week now, 2nd shift, so no telling when it will get done.
  12. By the way, was there ever a discussion on what sort of build this would be? Is it going to be a traditional rod or something more contemporary or are you guys just winging it on whatever the previous guys did?
  13. I think that would apply to a surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) large number of us here. Boy that's me in a nut shell.
  14. Wilbert, I don't mean to be negative. Unless you are an experienced modeler, just jumping in with major body mods is not advisable. Please click the "Walk Then Run" link below in my signature bar and read the thread.
  15. It doesn't look badly built it just looks like it has been in a garage or attic and is consequently a bit beat up. And yeah, seriously overpriced.
  16. And speaking of ugly Mustangs
  17. I figured we would run the gambit on opinions here. Good stuff guys.
  18. That is VERY cool. One of those will have to find its way to my collection.
  19. Not only using flat clears but also doing some sanding with 800+ grit sandpaper will also take your shine down. Also a car never fades evenly over the whole body, so sanding in addition to using flats will be necessary.
  20. Speaking for myself, originality is very important. More than one project of mine has been shelved because someone else built the same kit, the same way. Everything I build I try to take in a different direction. I want people to say "Ive never seen that done before, or at least not done like that." But how important is it to you? For you factory stock builders, I imagine it isn't at all. But everyone else? And Doc Cranky, no need for you to reply, we know the answer. :D
  21. Great advice, but be aware. If you are going to ship this all bets are off. Murphy's Law laughs at this situation.
  22. I think this is still usable! Yeah, just add a tail and call it a Sting Ray! EDIT: Gah! Harry beat me to the punch line.
  23. I put up a list of models I wasn't interested in here in the appropriate forum section and traded them for models I wanted. Pretty simple.
  24. Ridiculous and dangerous. You need a shaded pole or "squirrerl cage" blower motor. You never want to pull the vapors through a conventional electric motor. One little spark + some flamable vapors = a trip to the ER. Find a a blower with the motor outside the airflow.
