  1. *Sigh* now I have to change my avatar again.
  2. Glue the hood on? Blasphemy!
  3. I know I'm a posting fool tonight, but I wanted to point this out. For those of you with a 2011 contest annual from the other magazine and look up the section from the Tampa FL. show. Then look for a grey post-apocalyptic Chevelle. Yep, that's my boy. He did that two years ago when he was 16. He's very jazzed. And me too.
  4. What baffles me is drivers that get their sons and daughters involved. It would destroy me to bury one of my boys for something so dangerous that I got them into. The Andretti's and the Petty's have both felt that tragedy, and others I'm sure. I can understand the draw of racing, and why my sons would WANT to participate, but it would still destroy me all the same.
  5. Brett, I'm going to throw her up on ramps tomorrow morning and have a look see. It's a 94 Cutlass Supreme with a transverse mounted 3.1L V-6. Maybe I'll get lucky.
  6. I have never had good luck un-warping parts in plastic much less resin. Even we I get them straight, the twist comes back eventually. So I agree with Mike, find an AMT hood.
  7. Only if we get to see them dressed in the Adam West and Burt Ward costumes.
  8. We'd love for you to get with a resin caster as you go as well. People would pay for this subject matter.
  9. Then here's what I recommend. Aftermarket or hard to find stuff. Mickey Thompson valve covers. Offenhauser flat heads, Finned valve covers, Desoto Fire-dome or Chrysler Fire-Powervalve covers. Finned 409 valve covers. Multi carb (4+) intakes, zoomie headers, etc etc.

    1936 Ford

    Very smoooooth!
  11. Hey, you added a wood length into your sliding door Mike. Very clever.
  12. I brought a rat rod to contest this past weekend. Due to the cutoff year (1948) my rod ended up in the (post '48) street machine catagory because I used a 1950 ford pick-up cab. I must say I was not comfortable about having it there as it was competing against modified muscle cars, 50's customs and the like. All very shiny. Really shiny. And me with my matte paint. Do you think cars with flat/matte/suede finishes should have their own catagory? Is it fair to put them against builds with awesome gloss finishes where they might suffer in the eyes of a judge who prefers gloss? Jaxcon has added a rat rod/ beater catagory for which I am very thankful. But it's the only contest I have heard of that has. Thoughts, opinions, delusions?
  13. You guys are making me feel sooooo much better thanks. I'm neither pessimist nor optimist. I'm a realist. The glass isn't half full or empty, it's simply the wrong size.
  14. Thanks Paul and I'd say you had better luck with pics there than I did. There just wasn't enough light for macro. Grats on your award too.
  15. So as I mentioned earlier. New job, getting caught up on the bills, finally there's a few bucks for me to get the new Hudson and '48 Ford, a parts/wheel pack or two and..............................walk outside to the car and see a pool of coolant underneath the Olds. Looks like its leaking from the water pump. *sigh*
  16. Oh yeah. Very nice. Well done.
  17. Thanks very much everyone. Yeah, carving a set of "rims" down to hubcaps was not a great deal of fun. I have added some dullcoat to the compressed air tank since taking the photos. Looks much better. And if you call, you are likely to piss off some poor stranger in Illinois.
  18. Yep and it's such a fine sight to see.
  19. Jim, not tooting your own horn, also got a handful of awards. You had some real great work there pal. And I'm also planning my theme build already. I'm thinking a 60's muscle car built up 70's style.
  20. I gotta share my personal favorite of the show. Every detail of this car was perfect. I think I'm going to build a Revell 32 sedan like this eventually.
  21. Thanks everyone. I recieved a first place award today for best commercial at the Tampa MAGS show. Very gratifying.
  22. I whole-heartedly approve. Very cool. I'd like to see something in that grill opening though.
  23. Thanks Paul, and same here. Great to meet you.
  24. I skipped over all the common stuff - fiberglass this or that, red 57 Chevys, etc. Here's the good stuff. 200 pics. http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g73/Jantrix/SESRN%2011/?start=all
