  1. Very cool!! I've got this kit, too. I really like the concept, custom and experimental cars. Thanks for sharing,
  2. Did the elves pop that one out while you were sleeping? I don't even remember you saying that you were building this one... I can't believe that you can buy, build and post a model for sale on eBay quicker than I can get the wrapper off of one! Call me when you have time for lunch...I've still got those two 1/16th scale '34 Fords waiting for your eleves to get to work on. Later,
  3. Go Bernard, go!! This one is starting to look like its been down the track a couple of times! Are you going to put a number on this one? Later,
  4. Very nicely done!! Thanks for sharing,
  5. It's hard to beat classic black and white!! Thanks for sharing,
  6. Yeah...I know Bernard well enough to know that he'd give me all the information I needed to build the model Wow, can you imagine how big of a display case you'd need for a 1:1 plastic model like this one? How many cans of Testors black lacquer would it take to paint that thing? Later,
  7. Looking good, Bill!! Yeah...I amy have one done by the end of summer, too! Later,
  8. This was built as a "thank you" to a friend who provided me with a lot of inspiration on several of my builds without being too prescriptive or judgemental.
  9. I forgot to go back and post pics of the car that I built for Bernard based on his response to this post! Later,
  10. Thanks, guys! Later,
  11. Thanks, Clay...but that extra space next to the Avanti is there for you to fill, my young friend... I hope that all is well with you and your family. Later,
  12. Yeah...even at our age it's good to get a little wood every now and then... No...I won't be able to make it to the Goodguys show this weekend. Saturday I've got to get the 2000 Grand Prix ready to sell and we're having a 90th birthday party for my grandfather on Sunday. And I thought that once the kids moved out of the house that I'd more time to work on models...so much for that plan... Later,
  13. This one just keeps getting better!! I just don't have the time or patience to put that much detail into one model anymore...but thankfully, guys like you do!! That's what's so great about this forum...I can enjoy some really well built models without having to build or buy anything!! Thanks for sharing,
  14. Oops...I forgot to mention that the cream color was the base coat for the light colored wood. All of the sheetmetal parts will be the Honduras Maroon color... Although...the cream colored body would probably look good with black fenders...
  15. First, the color on the fenders of the Wagon Rod is only a base color. I use leftover colors, (that are close to the actual color), to see how well the body work is done. It was also good enough for a few pics with the wood grain. The body color will be Testors spray can Honduras Maroon lacquer, the same color that I used on my '58 Impala. The interior for the Wagon Rod will also be the same tan color that's in the Impala. I won't clear the woodie portion until the body color gets sprayed on. It's much easier to touch up any of the wood grain while it's still in flat colors if I need to adjust or fix anything after the body color gets sprayed on. Well...that's it for now... Later,
  16. Maybe...I don't work with the person I gave it to, but I am still in touch with him. I need to fix one of the Berma-Shave signs for him. That would be a GREAT reason to get it back long enough to get a couple of pics. I remember that it was painted in red oxide primer with thin strips of masking tape used to make the numbers on the doors. How "back yard mechanic" is that? Later,
  17. That is really cool!! I don't recall ever seeing a Corvair funny car...but then these days I tend to forget a lot of stuff... Thanks for sharing,
  18. Very nicely done, John!! The detail work is awesome!! Thanks for sharing,
  19. Very nicely done, Ron!! Being such an old kit, I had forgotten how nice that chassis and engine setup is!! Thanks for sharing,
  20. This one is really starting to come together, Bernard!! That deal with the different hood side pieces is really interesting!! Remember what our old friend Curt always says, "model building is nothing more than a series of fixing mistakes". Later,
  21. That's looking pretty good, Scott!! What's going on with the salt flat Vette? Later,
  22. There are no limits to what can be done with the AMT '29 roadster kit!! It looks like you're off to another good start, Bernard!! The last one I built was an old dirt track racer diorama with Berma-Shave signs one the crash rail posts...I don't think that I ever got pictures of that one before I gave it to a friend of mine... Later,
  23. Thanks for the clarification and the info!! I'm not really a MOPAR guy, so I didn't know there was that much of a difference between the early and the later HEMI blocks. Later,
  24. I agree with these guys!! There is no such thing as too much brick!! I've built several dioramas over the years, but they were always intended to be sold, so I never put that much work into them. If I ever build one that I plan to keep, I would want to make it as nice as this one is being built. Thanks for sharing,
  25. Excellent build, John!! The detail work on the engine is GREAT!! The driver and passenger witht he diorama make the whole thing come to life!! Thanks for sharing,
