  1. The push-bar in the front adds a nice "military" touch to the build!! Thanks for sharing,
  2. That is just too freakin' cool!! I can't wait to see this one finished!!
  3. I thought the same thing when I saw this photo!! The sticker in the window is a nice touch. The only two things I can see that really give this one away as a model are the tires and the headlight lenses. For the tires, there's no bulge on the bottom from the weight and for the headlights you can't see the filaments. But if you've got to look THAT close to tell, you're picking at fly s#!+ and should be given serious consideration as the IPMS judge of the month!! EXCELLENT WORK!!
  4. I just spoke to Bob last week. He's still in business, and doing well from what I got from our conversation. Give him a call if you have questions. He's very helpful. Regards,
  5. Very nice work!! I like them all, but I especially like the Camaro!! Keep up the GREAT work and thanks for sharing,
  6. Post away!! If anybody gets tired of your stuff then they can simply move onto the next posting. Sure, a little BMF on the arms and a wipe with the old black magic marker in the blades and you're good there. I can still see enough detail around the winshield opening and the wing windows to BMF the trim there. Good luck,
  7. Looking good, Ismael!! I can't wait to see this one "Under Glass"!!
  8. Nice save!! Aren't you glad now that you didn't strip it?! A little BMF, a few details and you've got a winner on your hands!!
  9. The stance is perfect for an old gasser!! Thanks for sharing,
  10. No...that's not my "style"... You should know that by now... I may paint it tomorrow. I took an extra day off to "get some things done around the house". Later,
  11. Good!! I NEVER strip a paint job unless it's a 1:1 car with old, cracking paint. And, I was a professional bodyman and painter for several years. Like I said...let it dry, give it a good color sanding, trying not to go through the paint wherever possible, (to prevent it from happening again), and it should like fine after you repaint it. Honestly, I never count on the first coat of paint. I almost always will put down a good first coat, let it wrinkle, crinkle and do all of the nasty stuff that it wants, then let it dry, color sand it, give it a final coat and a good dose of clear. AND, I'll often color sand the clear coat, (especially if there are decals involved), and come back over the whole thing with a final clear coat for polishing. Good luck to you,
  12. All is not lost!! Let it dry a few days, color sand it and recoat with a less aggressive paint. I like using Testors spray lacquer. If the paint was more "aggressive" or "hotter" than the primer, that would explain why you didn't see the problem in the prime coats. When you spray a "hot" paint, the thinner can penetrate the primer coat and unsettle the plastic. Good luck,
  13. Though this is not mine, I'd have to pick this one as a GREAT photo of a very well done model. For me it's not just the model, but also the background that sets the tone and separates the type of model that you look at in a casual, passing glance from what you want to study and admire. For me, this photo from Ismael captures that essence completely. Not only is the model an excellent display of craftsmanship but it's set in a perfect background to accent what the car is all about...racing heritage. If he had weathered it, then it would be better suited in a pit or a trackside scene, but with it's clean, "retired from racing" appearance, this background is perfect. It reminds me of a high class display that you'd see at Harrah's Auto Museum. Bravo, Ismael, bravo!!
  14. That is totally freakin' cool!!
  15. Very nice!! That is one MONSTER sized hood scoop! I hope that driver always gets the right lane, otherwise he'll never see the other car!!
  16. Very nice, clean build!! I like it a lot!! Thanks for sharing,
  17. I'm going to have to take a powder on this one...I built the engine and the chassis, but I still haven't gotten around to painting the body yet. I seem to have some sort of aversion to spraying a white model with white paint. How do you know if it's covered or done???
  18. That's coming along really nicely!! What scale is it? (I don't recognize the figure).
  19. Thanks, George!! But like I've said many times, I've just learned how to take good pictures and crop them well. And, that's not an art or a craft, that's a skill, or maybe just dumb luck. On a serious note, yes, some people's builds are truly examples of fine art, some are displays of excellent craftsmanship, some are displays of acquired skills and workmanship while some are a collection of all of the above. Much of it has to do with the modeler, the subject that they choose to build, the materials they use and the approach they take on any given build. So, call it an art, a craft, a skill or whatever you feel it means to you. The important thing is that we all keep doing it, learning from each other and providing constructive support as we go. 20. You can't live in Hawaii and be burdened with things like schedules or deadlines!! It's just not "the way" !! Besides, if MCM became more like the other model magazine then Gregg would have to make the annual contest coverage issue a separate, special edition that we'd have to pay extra $$ to get, albeit late. No, I'm happy in this instance to leave things as they are and get the magazines whenever they arrive. Mahalo.
  21. That's a pretty cool looking liitle hotrod, Michael!!
  22. That's pretty funny!! Thanks for the compliment! Later,
  23. Thanks, Jonathan!! Honestly, I'd drive just about anything if I could afford to take the summer off from work to go see all of the car shows!! Thanks, Brian!! I'll bring it to the next Milt's NNL...which should be coming up soon...
  24. Ron, Clean build + great paint + excellent BMF = one GREAT model!! That's one really nice model!! Thanks for sharing,
  25. That's a GREAT idea, Harry...and I'll be really interested to see what gets published. As for me, the best I can do is send a digital picture of something I've built. I can't draw worth a darn.
