  1. Every thread I go to read only loads a few photos and then nothing. Im talking current threads with up to date photos/posts. Im not having issues on any other forums/pages etc. Only here. Anyone else?
  2. being 45 years old, Thats the era of street car I remember best and they left an impression on me too.
  3. they usually ended up gutted with a straight axle under them match racing as the money was better haha always a viable option haha
  4. Since the fairlane was a one off build, it makes sense that they would use what worked on the Mustangs. I wouldnt argue that point as you posted the build sheet and I honestly can't remember. I did mistype when I said it was Mustang only. I do know Mercury ran the factory style suspension until they went to the tube chassis cars in 66. My father's favorite car is the 65 Comet and we both own examples of them. he's owned both of his for over 40 years and I've had mine for 30. Unfortunately my father's binders of research material now live 600 miles away from me so I can't dig into them. If you find anything, please let me know as I can't recall seeing the suspension in the Droke car, The mustang photos are very common though as you know. Now I'm gonna get lost in researching my library haha
  5. The eliptical springs were mustang only (i mistyped, as it didnt click after seeing the fairlane build sheet posted haha) Comets had the shock tower removed/flipped to the outside of the engine compartment. If you look up Dynos 65 you can find the photos of it that were in Hot Rod before the car got the altered wheelbase, injection and straight axle. Thanks to my father, its my favorite era of racing. My fathers hobby for close to 40s years has been researching 60s-early 70s Ford and mercury drag cars.
  6. the roof and front end mods MAKE this build. its perfect. You could always thin out or french the stock tailights. itd be custom AND still have that mild vibe
  7. Ford commissioned 1 65 "thunderbolt to be built. I believe Dearborn Steel Tubing was the shop to build it
  8. Totally agree! Id build a stand for it just to display it!
  9. YES IT DOES! the Revell gypsy dune buggy and the Revell Super Safari do as well! Thanks for jogging my memory!
  10. Im fairly certain that is true about Everest. I had been mentally planning a few different combinations for a new car and I even started collecting some parts but with our son being ill, Ive shut down any and all plans for the new shop, builds etc
  11. Mine were all a hunt for affordable ones haha It started with the Medicine man kit I found cheap. the others not as cheap but I did find them all unbuilt other than that one motor if I remember right. I hope to build them all in my style.
  12. When we started building one of the cars I was part of, a veteran racer told us to forget everything we know about racing set ups. He was right haha.
  13. it's an amazing build! I'd leave the bumpers the way they are, I don't have a red hat yet but the last car I was a partner in went nearly 190 after I left the team. A red hat is a goal of mine though. Obtaining a red hat is actually harder that most people realize. going over 200 isn't the only requirement.
  14. weight is your friend on the salt. you'll routinely see weight added to cars. If you've ever driven at speed on packed snow, you'll understand this the car floats and you drive with your gas pedal, not necessarily the steering wheel
  15. Awesome build, cant wait to see more! I miss racing on the salt, but I hope to go back one day, my personal goal is 250 mph. my only critiques would be the floors would be bare and the stock seat would not have been allowed, SCTA has been the most strict tech Ive ever gone through with good reason
  16. the hood looks good with the clear coat peel. Id do the roof and trunk as well to make it all cohesive. (THE PAINT IS BEAUTIFUL) Maybe fade the black body moldings as well.
  17. awesome! I dont get around these parts much but Im gonna check back in. I may have to start building another pick up now. sending you a message btw
  18. LOVE IT!!!Had you not started working on it, Id be trying to buy it. Thats exactly the style stuff I build and collect
  19. Cab is definitely Lindberg 32 Ford pick up. Rest of the parts are AMT and MPC as others have stated The lindberg pick up cab represents more of a model a than a 32-34 cab but it makes for a good looking hot rod/custom rod
