  1. looks awesome!
  2. it came in the first release of the AMT 57 Chevy back in the 60s. I dont believe it was ever in any other reissues. Ive always liked it as well, but hated that it was designed to glue onto the stock frontend, it ends up lengthening the car by about 5/16s if I remember my numbers right
  3. THANK YOU GUYS! i do my styrene work like I do my 1:1 metal work (as little filler as possible) I blame my time in the hot rod industry haha i should have a small update either tonight or tomorrow if all goes well. Im working on adding material to the grille surround. then its onto the rearend!
  4. small update since the kids have kept me busy. I have both fenders roughed in other than trimming the wheelwell, the doors are both partially shaved and SHOULD be roughed out tonight.
  5. EVERYTHING about this came out AWESOME!!! Beautiful work.
  6. its in the realm of ideas for sure.
  7. thank you Dennis!!! I appreciate it. I never cared for how long stacking the pieces look as well. Proportions are very important to me. As for the hood, I have one of Eds shaved gunsight hoods coming but it will be modified. I am thinking about pancaking it and doing something similar to the kits custom piece. if I chicken out cutting up Eds hood, I do have 2 of the kit custom hoods to cut apart.
  8. BITCHIN!
  9. one side roughed in and ready for some primer. I took the peak off the top of the fender and removed the trim while I was blending. I also rolled the bottom of the fenders to get that tucked look that was popular back then on customs. the wheelwell flare is still there but it ends at the roll pan so Im probably gonna extend it when I go get some supplies. one other thing I have to do after I finish the other fender is to add onto the grille surround as Im not liking how flat the face is
  10. told myself to finish the frame first...but i had to set the nose to move forward... initial cuts made to keep the front end from looking too long (proportions are very important to me). now to let it dry and fill in the voids
  11. after seeing your other work, ill be watching this!
  12. I agree, I dont like Lake pipes on most cars. I havent started body mods yet but it will be pretty radical. Roof swap, headlight and tail light mods, etc etc Ill know more once I get the frame mods done and start the body
  13. thats where Im at on them right now. Ill make my final decision once I have the body roughed out. my goal is a radical custom BUT not gaudy. not an easy task. esp since Im more of a clean and mild custom guy usually
  14. said screw it and cut the firewall haha far from done, just rough cut. next will be final fitment and smoothing i also decided to keep the heater
  15. PLEASE tell me on top of all the wildness there will be a wild paint job...
  16. help me decide. I ended up with these killer lake pipes which Im usually not a fan of... the car is being built to represent roughly 1963. soo...yay or nay
  17. SO BITCHIN!!!
  18. WOW! We may need to talk about that collection haha
  19. very cool! Im just getting into Danbury mint stuff to be honest. It started with a few cheap pieces that needed restoration. Then it turned into "well what do I do with these parts diecasts" and now Im hunting ones I can afford haha Looks to be a few in that photo I may have to find eventually. That Daytona is KILLER the 2 ferraris that drug me into the Danbury world...haha
  20. kids fell asleep early so I sat at my desk. normally Id z the frame up at the firewall, and then back down for the radiator support but since Ill be cutting the first 6 inches of the nose off I didnt do the drop back down at the radiator support. at least not yet. I got the front clip tacked back in but I may shorten the wheelbase a bit still. I started modifying the trans tunnel and firewall, but Im gonna have to move the motor back some. Ill redo the firewall with the indent from a revell 3 window firewall. i may have to cut the front crossmember too. for now its kind of on all 4s at ride height.
  21. thank you. I try to keep them as clean as I can, makes it easier in the long run to not lose interest haha thanks. I always liked 150 and 210 57s as straight axled, radiused quarter drag car that sit low but there never were a lot of customized ones, and the ones that were, ended up gaudy in my eyes. Im trying to but a radical custom that isnt gaudy...Im gonna have to pull some tricks out of my ass haha I ended up buying a small collection and it was in it, I figured I would sell it, but I decided to keep it.
  22. thank you! Im hoping I can make the body mods look like whats in my head haha The yellow one is an out of the box Danbury Mint diecast
  23. Thanks, I really have to get back to it and get the body cut. This way I can start fitting the frame
