  1. better safe than sorry when it comes to paint. Ive had/seen my share of horror in both the real and scale world.
  2. thanks guys. I was almost thinking about using skateboard grip tape as my road surface. It would be a simple diorama as I plan to keep it very 60s era looking/outlaw trackish. Time to start doing some research
  3. I may have to buy one just for the spare parts haha I have a GMP swamp rat 1b I got stupid cheap that is broken..which of course made start thinking race shop diorama...Like I dont have enough going on
  4. Ive been on a Diecast kick the last few weeks. Im gonna have to look into this one!
  5. If not allowed here, please move to the proper location. Looking to see Drag strip dioramas, tips, tricks etc. Thanks everyone!
  6. Im using the K.S.Pittman kit as the main donor for my ferrari build so Ill be watching. Im torn between making it a high end drag car that would show well, and an all business drag car without the shiny stuff...Being a ferrari, Im leaning high ed show and go like many drag cars were back then. I just hate kit chrome haha
  7. Thank you! Cole is still sick so I guess tonight I sand the rearend seams and plan the next attack
  8. little side by side comparison..both stock bodied. the ferrari on the left is one I restored back to all stock using parts from the one Im turning into a drag car
  9. My son is sick with some kind of bug so I havent really been able to do much. I was able to get the rear narrowed when he dozed off last night (the mrs is a 3 to 11 RN) i cut the ends off initially but it wasnt enough, so I cut the ladder bar indexing flats out as well and Im finally happy with the way the slicks poke out. next step is to get some shop time and get grinding on the body so I can fit the chassis and start those mods.
  10. Im in Naugatuck, rarely get to build though
  11. GOOD STUFF! thank you! Ive always loved Kellisons, so much so that I have it on my "must own" list. Those late 50s sports cars like Scarabs always were cool in my book. Dean Moons Devin, The numerous Corvettes and early Tbirds built back then were also so cool
  12. Im trying to finalize the restoration of my Milestone Scotty Cannon 1:16 funny car chassis so I can display it sans body. i could stare at it for hours... BTW In doing so, Im searching for a lower driver side zoomie section. does anyone know where I can obtain one? I DO have an ad in the wanted section, but its received very little attention. thanks
  13. exactly, I may narrow the rear a few inches, a bit less tire out back and a bit more tire up front. time will tell.
  14. AWESOME! I have a dentside Ford and the same wheels and tires to build a pulling truck haha
  15. looks AWESOME! I got to meet and speak with Hubert numerous times and he was always awesome to speak with. His son Allen races a tribute Falcon with SEGA, and his nephew (Rocky Platt) drives a tribute Nova Huberts brother raced
  16. Im leaning towards spindle mounts as well. Im thinking along the lines that itd have the best of the best on it for the time frame. I have some more ideas coming Andrew haha I hope to start building both and early style custom and land speed cars from the 49 Jags Ive recently acquired. I grew up with my father being a Ford/Mercury 60s era drag racing historian, so that era ends up being my favorite as well. I gravitated towards hot rods, customs and Land speed racing among other niches of the industry
  17. Im constantly fighting with the PO here in Connecticut...People just suck now a days. If I had one, Id send you one
  18. I ended up getting a VERY thorough/nicely detailed diecast funny car cheap at a junk shop, but since I cant stand modern funny car bodies, I had to try a few different bodies on it, the falcon won so far. The plan is to eventually extend the body once I find a few more bodies
  19. not sure why yet, but Im not feeling the diameter and how much these slicks stick out. I have the complete box stock rear end unit out of the willys. Maybe Ill narrow the rear a few "inches". The pie crusts I mocked it up on initially are narrower but the halibrands dont fit them...Im also struggling with the right front wheel/tire combo..Ill get it eventually. I also pulled the olds out for a mock up Garlits hemi my brother built as a kid. my next step is to start cutting on the body to get the chassis to fit as its a danbury mint body. gonna open up the grille, lighten up some key areas, raise the rear wheel well radius so the car will sit lower etc.
  20. so you did all that with bad eyesight....Im throwing away all my stuff
  21. If youre gonna piss people off, may as well go all the way right haha
  22. May as well find a revell cobra and backdate it haha
  23. THANKS EVERYONE!!! I dont get much bench time with basically 2 jobs (one being my shop) 2 young kids and never ending projects around the house and land but I hit a milestone and started assembly on the motor. My next move is to decide on a color. Im thinking an emerald green so I can get the motor painted
  24. haha no side pipes. just headers off the blown and injected 392 hemi
