  1. So i have no clue wether this should be under the workbench or glass section as its completed but ill post some building pic's also. The build of my Diablo VT Fully painted with 3 layers of the TS-89 spraycan Final assembly: Completed (although still needs polishing and decals): Quite happy with the outcome of it, must say Revell is alot less detailed than im used to from Tamiya (steering dont work for example), but its fun as a "quick build" depending on how far you go with paint etc...

Cool build, this model is very high up on my WANT list.... will follow this closely!
  3. So tonight ive decided to make a small headstart on my new WIP, while my last other body dries/hardens out for another 2 days (6 total) to finish the build. I just cant sit around and wait... This is a kit i "NEEDED" to have when i found out about the existance, as its my favorite Lamborghini ever build. I've not done anything noteworthy yet on the build itself, but i've gotten a few questions regarding the AOSHIMA kit's (after i uploaded a couple pictures of their F1 GTR longtail Gulf livery kit) on their details, so i've unpacked everything, put the places back as close to possible into the sprues, and made some pictures for everyone to see. The build contains roughly 140 parts. I undestood these kits are quite expensive in the states? I'm from Holland so i buy locally, as practically everything thats still being build is for purchase here aslong as it aint an american model car, those are alot harder to find so far. For those who want to see the build instructions on this kit, send me a PM as i scan all my instruction booklets incase some water or paint comes on the origina, that way you can see how the kit is build and how far they go in detail. Here is the kit's box: Here's the sprue's and stickers: Overview of them all together: More of a close-up of the sprues: Soon some pic's of the build, so far ive only painted the front drivetrain, so not really noteworthy yet.
  4. Thanks all for the positive comments, I personally love the paint color that this car has, maybe it just suits the car real good, but i think itll suit alot of other cars nicely. So i've used this weekend to complete 3 of my projects that were started. All bodies were painted AFTER i've done the rest of the build so they were all waiting just to be assembled. Heres how the SARD Supra turned out. Yes it still needs mirrors and spoiler, but after how wrong it went with the spoiler last time, im "scared" to put either on incase i ruin the paint AGAIN.... As you probably notice, i love pictures personally, due to the fact i'm in the automotive sales so im used to taking loads of pictures (from every angle). I still have alot to improve on, mainly to do with windows and lights, or in other words, clearparts... Yes, it still needs to be polished.
  5. haha thx! my local modelling shop is closing down in januari sadly, so they were doing some of their kits away with 25% off, However as i'm still very new to the modelling i was thinking nahh the FW14B is still abit to ambitious for me (and expensive too incase i screw up), however i did end up buying it together with the 360 and the diablo (the rest came from elsewhere), just put it away for lets say 1-2 years so i can get some experience in first! And yes, im a big time super, hyper and sports car kind of guy
  6. Wasn't really in the mail today, but earlier this week: Shopping spree of the last 2 weeks: Need some necessities to start right?
  7. Tried it indeed on the other 2 brakes with a white fine surface primer from tamiya and now it looks decent. Solved it, thx all!
  8. incase you havent decided on a paint scheme/color for definate yet, ive done my Tamiya Supra with TS-52, which turned out absolutely awsome : http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/127174-tamiya-sard-supra-gt/ Maybe to flashy, maybe not, but everyone that has seen pictures or seen the bodies here in the house absolutely loves the color on this car... just a thought
  9. Perhaps a noob question, but what is color sanding? What do you guys usually sand it with after clear coat has hardened out. As i just started i decided to let the bodies "harden" for 5 days before continuing with the build... Also sand before continuing putting it together of when its completely done? Thanks for the tip so far on the temperature, it was indeed colder today outside then when i did the other bodies... (the color itself i did in my basement aswell, clearcoat outside as it leaves a much larger "cloud" of vapor than the paint itself). I do however after laying a coat down take the model inside to dry, i dont leave them outside due to the smell, i just put it on the furnace with the extractor hood on (is that the right name?)
  10. I've been an expat kid for half my life, so i can slightly weigh into this situation. Due to the fact my dad got send abroad the company he worked for payed for our schooling as kids (due to the high prices of international schools). We "had" to go to international schools due to the countries we got send to (asian and middle eastern countries). However that started for me when i was 10 years old, before that ive just been to regular public school's here in holland. and after my return to holland ive been to public college, and also a private uni/college. Now to weigh in on the subject, it makes no difference wether you have been in public or private schools, both types of students use their smart phones constantly (i'm one of them aswell i must admit, however since i got rid of facebook its gone down with atleast 50%!). However at public schools, the rules are the same as private school's aka no phones during class, however at public schools they hardly enforce them, in private schools they do, even at the uni i went to they would confiscate it for the rest of the day and you were able to pick it up the next school day at the reception. 2nd time youd have to hand it in for 2 days etc etc, untill 7 times then ud loze it for a full week and parents/guardians would get called in for a firm talk... although i cant confirm that it really went that way as ive never been one to use them during class.... Between classes or during breaktimes and before/after school you wouldnt notice the difference between public and private as everyone would immediately get their phones out to check their facebook or whatsapp or what ever they use and have notifications of (even without them most people still check those apps to see if they "missed" anything). This goes for the countries i lived in abroad as well as back here in holland. This is ofcorse my personal opinion and observation on this subject.
  11. Another topic from my side, 4th in a single day i believe already, ill slow down i promise (unless you want more pictures, everyone here seems to love picture, ifso ill make more threads on my WIP's) i've just painted my 360 Modena (Tamiya kit) with Tamiya TS85 (Bright Mica Red), saw no defects in the paint i layed down. Layed down a clear coat, and saw the following in the paint: Ive sanded the car from how it came in the kit, and layed down 2 layers of Tamiya's Fine Surface Primer, sanded it down with Tamiya's 1000grid sandpaper, didnt see anything then, didnt see anything in between the layers of Bright Mica Red paint (TS85), nor after the 2nd (and final) layer of paint before putting down the clear coat. I use Motip's clear varnish for my clear coat (i havent found any modelling spray cans with clear coat in holland so far) used it on the green SARD supra, Revell Diablo and Fujimi E30 325i, and those look extremely nice, ive added a picture as a reference to how the lamborghini turned out: Ive not layed down a 2nd layer of clear coat yet, hoping i can still solve this at this stage without having to strip and start over again....
  12. ive gotten his PM, send him a reply already for this, thanx for passing it on!
  13. So this was my first build ever, that i started 4 years ago (and finished straight away). I didnt have any modelling paint, i kept the whole interior black (as they usually were in a supra, except if the original buyer opted for the beige/brown leather). other than spraying the body, and splitter i only put it together.. Looking at what i know now about the scene (including aftermarket) i'm thinking of buying another supra kit to really build my old car, i pulled the body of just for the pics. Anyways here are the pix of the model: And hereby some reference pix to my old Supra (for those who wonder, yes it was a manual car with a 2JZ-GTE under the hood!), the whole reason i started the model build back then! Yes i know its not really much alike, but like i said, i didnt know anything about model building yet...
  14. I mainly use Revell aqua paint for painting with a brush, simply because its easy to use. However ive noticed that quite a few of their paints are either very difficult to use, for example: if i brush it leaves the original sprue color, instead of the color i'm brushing. ill need to dip it then, or apply reasonably thick layers. Another problem ive encountered today is the following: The brake calipers look more like green to me than yellow, or am i going color blind? Any one else uses this paint, and has encountered these problems? have you been able to get it resolved? ifso how?
  15. I use Revell's Paint remover, works like a charm! i must say so far ive only used Revell's own aqua color, and tamiya spray cans, works on both!
  16. Jup, i know how that goes... I was busy painting my E30 325i, the first car i was spraying on the tamiya stand i just got through the mail, and guess what. The top half of the Tamiya stand came off, i tried to catch it but i sadly only slammed the body harder to the ground, end result.... covered in garden ground... I've now glued the stand together with model glue, and when ever i paint i keep one finger on the top part of the stand to push it into the other part (i paint outside in my hands, due to a lack of good place here in the house)
  17. Started this build roughly 4 years ago, did the first 2 steps but got bored of it. Started it 2 weeks ago again, and made a few pictures along the way (sadly not as many as id hoped, but i didnt know forums on these even existed yet, since then i made more pix for other builds im working on...) Here some pictures of the build coming along: Practically how i found it in the box after 4 years (little assembly done and paint before taking the picture): Any tips for gluing windows in? i use Revell Contacta Clear (with a brush connected to its lid), as this is just hideous First sticker i ever placed... I absolutely hate this part of every build (can anyone tell my why these stickers rip so easyand how to prevent it? i placed them for roughly 10-15 seconds in warm water as written in the instructions) 2nd sticker went little better, but overal, all stickers on this car were still hideous (i made this car a practice project direct after the windscreen sticker) Then i made a "booboo" when gluing the spoiler on... Decided to change things up a little, and made the seat black with red, and a golden rollcage After the mistake with gluing the spoiler on i decided to sand the whole car down, after pulling the decals off (any one know if you can get them on again? i managed to pull a few off completely withour ripping it or anything), primed the car for paint, and decided to go for TS-52 (Tamiya candy lime green spray can), this is the first coat on: 2nd layer: 3rd and final layer: It was only after a friend of mine who passed by said: "where is the spoiler?" that i realised i forgot to glue the spoiler on before paint... mmhmm do i risk another mistake or leave it spoilerless.. havent decided yet sadly i found 2 small mistakes in the paint i missed with sanding (also after priming the car) : So far im quite happy as this is the first model build im actually taking my time for (2nd model in total and actually enjoy building, not like the street supra i once made) The car is now sitting as is, and ready to get its layer of clear coat. Ill keep you all updated
  18. I thought "ow that scene is big, must be able to find them"... sadly i was wrong, VERY wrong, so far ive only found the Supra, 370Z, EVO 8 and MX5 NA. and thx, the collection is bigger than just the WIP's i have a couple boxes sitting ready for when i finish those WIP's....
  19. So like the title suggests, im Jeroen and the M3 stands simply for my love for the M3 coupes. I have tried my hand at model builds roughly 4 years ago, when i had the idea that every car i would ever own in real life, i wanted a self made model of. So far ive had roughly 7 cars that are worth the builds (not counting my boring daily drivers). From those cars so far ive only build 1... To give an impression of what i'd like collection of model cars to look like, i owned the following: BMW E46 M3CS (ZCP for USA market)BMW E36 325i sedan track carBMW E36 325i convertibleMazda MX5 NAToyota Supra MKIVMitsubishi EVO VIIINissan 370ZThe following models i have completed of so far: Toyota Supra MKIV As you all can see, i still have a few to go. Other than just building the cars that i have owned, i also want to build more general cars that i have a certain love for, cars like supercars, hypercars and racecars. So far i have 4 -5 WIP's (360 modena, Diablo VT, SARD Supra, E30 325i, 996 GT3), this due to the fact i always start building and then realize that i forgot to do the body first, so they are just waiting for their bodies to harden out so i can finish them of. Thats it for now, thanx for reading and hoping on learning alot here about the scene! PS if anyone knows where i could find models of the cars that ive owned but got no model of yet, please let me know!
