Headlamp bowls fitted, I just wish model companies would mount the chrome parts where the cut mark is going to be visible, thank god for BMF .... it was the same for the rear lamp housings, attached to the parts tree right at the top and side of the part.

Managed to win both of these off eBay this afternoon, I built the police version many years in Iowa State patrol after living in Des Moines for a while, managed to get some decals for it, and managed to get some good photo's of the real deal at the H.Q of Iowa's State Patrol, can anyone tell me where I could get hold of some 1:25th scale police decals from these days .....

Bought this, and then discovered I'd already got one in the stash, So it will probably be started once the Beetle is finished. I've also got a couple of the 601 saloon versions in the stash, I've tried in vain to get hold of some Trabant matched paint in the U.K without success, found a place in Germany who would courier me the paint over, so I've ordered one of Champagne and one of Capri green

It's still there, but depends on how long you haven't seen it for, you well might not recognise it, the fountain is long gone and a Costa coffee house has taken it's place .....

No, I only use clearcoat on metallic colours, solid colours are wet sanded and polished out, probably harder work but it just looks more realistic as that's what happened on the 1:1 version

Got a little more done earlier, interior mirror painted and fitted, and then the body simply popped onto the chassis, it's held in place using slow setting epoxy on the inside of the running boards,

Starting to look like a Beetle now, although the parts fit has been 1st class up to now, when I come to put the interior pod and chassis together, they didn't want to go together, after a bit of grinding and sanding they finally went together, the main cuprit was the hump in the floorpan where the gearbox goes,

Well the commission build was finished back in June, one magazine article finished, still got another one to do, so after a break of around 4 months I thought it was about time I dug out the beetle kit, anyway the interior s finished, now I'm working on the body, so hopefully the body and chassis will be as one very soon, Revell do give some decals for the side chrome trim, but they look like silver decals which isn't good enough for me, so they were done using bmf.

Prior to December 1966 the MK1 Coopers had a simple board on the inside of the bootlid held in place with self tapping screws, the Revell version is a pre-January 1966 model, so should have the following panel on the inside of the bootlid The boot carpet should have a very fine carpet fitted to it.
