  1. Very nice Harry, it was worth all the work you put into the build ....
  2. There are places that do buy up model collections, but not knowing where you are, I can't recommend any to you, the other choice is of course eBay I might be Able to help with prices, etc just drop me a PM.
  3. Welcome aboard ...
  4. Very nice build as you say, the kit has so any inaccuracies, I bought this kit when they were first released and sold it on, thankfully the Revell version is correct where the Hasegawa kit wasn't, those wheels in the kit are from there '67 Beetle kit, type 2's never had those slotted wheels.
  5. That's some very fine work you've done there, clean and superb paintwork, airbrush or rattle can ??
  6. Thank you, this has been a very enjoyable build, the colour, VW Brilliant orange has been in the paint cupboard for around 20 years, I knew I'd find a use for it
  7. It would be nice, but the way the window is moulded with the frame, if not impossible, it would seriously weaken the frame
  8. Thanks Shay, that wasn't easy, the window frame is so thin, oh well, only one more to do and the front screen to mask off and airbrush satin black, two wiper arms and she's finished.
  9. Rear side windows painted and fitted, one front side window done in bmf, the frame is so thin, probably the hardest part I've ever had to cover in bmf
  10. I'm going to be casting the bumpers, dashboard, engine cover and seats from the convertible kit very soon, in resin, just got to get the bench cleared first
  11. In Europe you could still buy a Beetle with the thinner bumpers until the Super Beetle came out, the Revell monogram version is just a reboxed Revell AG kit.
  12. The Tamiya Beetle is a 1966 version, the Revell is a '68 onwards body, after building both, the Revell version is certainly as good as the Tamiya version, intact the interior of the Revell one s so much better and more realistic than Tamiya's offering
  13. Very nice, I built the Airfix version some time ago, I have the MPC version in the stash, I love these old timers, and you did a good job of building this one ....
  14. I've used a few different brands of flocking, some of the one's you get from Hong Kong and China seem to have larger fibres and can look out of scale, the Revell Mini Cooper I used a light blue from Detail master, and found there product to be more in scale, sadly I don't have a local model shop, and hobby craft don't stock it, so for me it's the internet ....
  15. The only time I have done this was on a mk1 Toyota MR2 it was a commission build, I used liquid cement to fix them in place and 2 part bondo to fill the gaps, once smoothed and painted it looked like a solid roof.
  16. Looking good there Shay ...
  17. Nice save on the doors Harry, this is turning out to be a work of art ....
  18. Interesting build, look forward to seeing more ....
  19. Welcome aboard, you've built some real nice models there, and don't worry too much about your English, seems it's much better than my French,
  20. Very Nice ....
  21. It does make a difference, after the masking tape was removed it was given a wipe over with the Novus #1, Window masked up with Tamiya 18mm tape Window wiped over with Novus #1 and fixed in place using clear epoxy
  22. Door handles fitted, now it's time to work on the windows, I always polish the windows using Novus # 2 before fixing them in place, it really makes the plastic look clearer and more like glass than clear plastic, I did a dry fit with the rear screen and noticed that you could see the orange bodywork through the screen, so I used a permanent black artists pens to colour the lip in black
  23. My next one, and yes I have a few more of these in the stash, will be done in Marine blue, I've also got a few of the 1500 Convertible to build, I might even make molds and cast the bigger Euro' bumpers, engine cover and high back seats and make a 1500 saloon,
  24. There pretty hard to find over here, I've tried many times to get one but they usually go for silly money on eBay, this one I picked up for just over £30 ($47)
