Back in the early 90's I took a tour of the Ertl plant in Dyersville, Iowa, I returned the following following year to do the same, this time it was to take photos and write an article of Ertl and it's history for the Truck Model World magazine, I never gave itmuch thought back then, but reading this made me rrealise that nearly everyone on the factory floor was a woman ...

Looks a nice build, but I have spotted a few missing items from the build, no wiper blades or front headlamp lenses.

Just superb !! I have a soft spot for these cars, I'd love to get one in 1\25th scale to keep my Stutz company

I found that out after I bought it, the box art is totally different so I thought it was a different model, but no, oh well it's not as though it cost that much, I'm sure I can make a decent model out of it ...

Only paid £12.00 inc postage, but reading on the 'net, it's the same model as the one I have with the blue & white car on the box lid ....

Air bubbles in Alumilite resin
GeeBee replied to Austin T's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Try pouring the resin into the miles slowly, pouring it too fast traps the air in the resin, also I find vibrating the mold once the resin has been poured helps a lot in removing the air -
For me it has to be the Internet, many years ago if I was building a model that I didn't have any photos or reference material on the model I was building, I would go out and buy a new book on the subject, now I pop the info' I want into Google and I can now find any photo I need plus all the info' I need on factory colour codes so I can get the correct paint mixed up, plus the Internet has out mm e in touch with some great modellers here on mcm. The 'net has also given me access to many 'how to' articles and compared to pre internet days I'm now using BMF, flocking and way more techniques than I thought possible. Also it has made buying model kits from overseas so much easier, all done with a click of a few buttons, I can buy kits and pay for them without the need for expensive phone calls, the last couple of kits I've bought have come from Burbank hobbies straight to my door in less than a week.

Peterbilt 377 Daycab
GeeBee replied to ghoodii's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Superb build, I built the 377 many years ago and it's a nice model to put together ... -
Welcome aboard ....

I'm really not sure, as I've never tried it, the suspension on this one compared to the Tamiya '66 is a lot more basic but on the other hand stronger, I've took a few photo's of the instructions so you can make your own mind up .... Not a great deal done today in the model room, but I did spend a little time this evening putting on the chrome trim on the running boards

Love those wheels, looking forward to seeing more of this build ....

Yes I would get yourself a regulator, Alclad needs to be sprayed around 12-15 psi, and regular lacquer thinners will work fine, I use it to clean my airbrushes no mater what I've put through it ...

Hideous coating on Chrome parts
GeeBee replied to Bgrgbldr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's the same product we get this side of the pond, although it's called Fairy power spray, I've found it great for removing paint, chrome and the gunk under the chrome, and it's perfectly safe on styrene -
No, since I'm building this as a early 70's Beetle, it really wouldn't look right,

That's about it, this is Lechler (Italian Paint Manufacturer) 2K Macrofan 2000 clear put into small bottles, a 4 litre can runs at about £60,

A little bit more done on this today, got the panel lines done on one side and the back, and the dash panel, the light grey for the roof liner and the back side panels were done with Tamiya acylic flat white with a few drops of grey mixed in to knock down the bright white.
