  1. Well after the primer had dried out I wet sanded the body and body parts using 2400 grit paper, all of the body parts got their colour coat today and will left to dry out for a week before being wetsanded again and polished out ....
  2. Looking at the Ebbro version, to me looks like the 1967 model where as the Heller has the later grey plastic grill and different wheels makes it a 1978 model, to me, that's 'much earlier'
  3. There was a typo' on one of the labels, showing the scale to be 1/20th, but only there F1 kits are in that scale, the Renault R4 is going to be !/24th, and the mold is not shared with Heller, the Ebbro version is a much earlier R4 than the Heller one.
  4. Look on the bright side, I had problems with my hand a few years ago, it was nothing to do with my Muscular Dystrophy, but they put it down to nerve and tendon damage, which like you, they can't do anything about them, it comes and goes, so there are days when I can't do any modelling, holding any tools are just out of the question, but I carry on regardless ......
  5. Just ordered from Burbank Hobbies .....
  6. No it's not, the Ebbro one is in 1:24th scale, only there F1 are in 1:20th, and there's no tie up between Ebbro and Heller, both versions are of a different vintage of the R4, the Heller version is a later model, here's a few test shots of the Ebbro kits
  7. Not with this one, but it's something I'm thinking about when I do the Cabriolet version .....
  8. Got the body, body parts and all the small parts in primer today ....
  9. Superb build, love the bonnet hinges, I'll have to see if I can find them over here .....
  10. Welcome aboard ...
  11. Superb build ...
  12. It is indeed a nice model, if Revell keep bringing out more classic kits, I'll be buying them, can't wait for the Trabant kombi to come out later this year ....
  13. Just ordered one of these, it looks like a reboxed Revell-Monogram, but looking on the 'net, it has the chrome trim molded into the body so you can do a vinyl roof job much easier, hopefully I shall have it by the end of the week,
  14. Thanks for sharing, I never realised the Avanti went on that long ...
  15. No offenced caused .....
  16. If you follow any of my builds, you will know I only do factory stock, my models depict a car waiting in a showroom waiting to be sold, which is why all my builds have no number plates on
  17. Where do you think they should be ???
  18. That photo is of a pre '66 Beetle, so the rear window on the later Beetles were larger, in Europe you could buy a basic 1200, known as the 1200A, were made up until '73 using the old body complete with the original torsion bar suspension, smaller rear wings and rear lights, I'm building it as a '72, which is the year Brilliant orange was first used on the Beetle
  19. Very nice build, I love seeing oddballs like this, looking at the box art, you wouldn't know it could be built into such a great model
  20. VW Brilliant orange with a dark tan interior
  21. The inner engine sheild are supposed to be fitted after the engine has been fitted, but a quick dry fit of the engine I found no reason they couldn't be fitted first and painted along with the floorpan. All the parts are now ready for a coat of primer, then they can be sorted into groups and painted in there correct colours, the body and body parts are also ready for a coat of primer and then the topcoat,
  22. Ejector pin marks filled and sanded smooth Steering joint mushroomed over, Working Steering Engine cover Hinge Wheel back, Instructions tell you not to glue the inner parts, as you can have the wheels turning on the model, but as I've had a few models rool off the work bench, I fixed mine with cement Seat Base, very nice touch that the Tamiya version doesn't have Seats have some real nice molded in detail Inner roof panel, another nice touch Looking on the inside of the bodyshell, I noticed a lot of holes molded into the inside of the roof and front wings, looks to me like there might well be a police version coming soon, as Beetles were used a lot by the German Police
  23. I had mine delivered yesterday, what a cracking kit, not one that's going to be put together in 5 minutes, loads of detail and the molding is superb.
  24. Won this on eBay in the early hours, I really need to check my model stash more often, had a look this morning and yes I already have this one, oh well I got it at a good price .....
