  1. Not my usual build, but for quite some time I've been asked "When are you going to build a hotrod" I finally gave in, so this one will be on the bench after the 2cv has been finished, not sure when it will get finished though, I'm going to pretty busy, work wise from the end of next month .....
  2. Absolutely superb build .....
  3. Absolutely superb Jim, you do some really fine work ....
  4. Very nice build, I build models for commission, and for magazines, not always as much fun as it sounds ....
  5. it's one of those colours that change in different lighting conditions, in the sunlight it takes on a much lighter shade than either under studio lights or just indoors
  6. Can't believe how much I've got done to this today, bumpers were airbrushed the same same colour as the wheels, Citroen Rose grey (AC-140), the hubcaps were airbrushed using Alclad chrome.
  7. Another fine build Jonathan ....
  8. When a member of the PT Cruiser club had some Morettes headlamps fitted to their Cruiser, I thought, I know where they got the idea for them ....
  9. They did, unless you were unlucky enough the buy a North American market DS, they made a right pig's ear of it thanks to Federal laws banning the plexiglass covering and the turing headlamps, not the first time a perfectly good European car has been completely wrecked by these laws though ....
  10. Another fine Ford, real nice restoration ....
  11. Welcome aboard, nice come back ....
  12. I'm pretty happy how the one side has dried up
  13. Thankfully I managed to crank up my proper PC, which I use for my photographic work, and load the photo's into Lightroom, and managed to get the photo's looking a lot better and more realistic to the actual colour
  14. The Honda's are a nice little kit, I picked a few up last year when I was in Japan, hopefully I'll be able to pick up a few more this year, as I only managed to get the first issued version, which was the N11,the early version was released after that, nice little engine to build though ....
  15. Just got sent a better image of this one this morning, can't wait to add a few of these to the stash ...
  16. Got the body finally fitted to the chassis, a few drops of 5 minute epoxy at the front and back, and held in place with some strips of Tamiya masking tape, then the headlamps were fitted, they simply fit into holes molded into the chassis, once that was done, I started on the decals, a bit of Solvaset soon had them snuggled down into place.
  17. Some fine work there, I wish I could get that much done in a week ....
  18. Thanks everyone for the kind words, i really enjoyed building this one, i bought the model after attending an American car show a few years ago, there was a 300D on show that the owner had completely restored, this car was huge, i just knew I had to make a model of it, the only thing i didn't like was it was painted in black, i took plenty of photos of it, which did come in useful for this build, anyone thinking of building this model, just do it, it goes together beautifully....
  19. Now that the Chrysler is finished it's time to get back to the 2cv before I run out of time, as I've got plenty of work to get done from next month Got the aluminium bmf done, not that there's much of it to, now the body and chassis can be fitted together permanently
  20. I'm not sure why you think it's not a factory colour, it's Chrysler copper brown, one of the colours that the 57 300C was available in, the lighting might make it look darker than a vehicle in daylight, but I can guarantee you it's the same colour as this one
  21. There was a small detail i missed, the chrome trim around the rear number plate, sorted that this morning with some bmf
  22. Got this one finished up this afternoon, it's the AMT '57 Chrysler 300C airbrushed using MCW Chrysler copper brown acrylic lacquer and clear coated, rear bumper was done using chrome Alclad, rear emblems were done using the emblems off the photo etch sheet, all chrome trim is chrome BMF
  23. I haven't been spending much time in the hobby room lately, but I'm determined to get this one finished, all that's left to do is the side emblems, so they were cut from the sheet along with the 300C script, after thinking of the best way to do things, I came up with a plan, airbrush the badge with white primer, once dry mask off and airbrush the blue segment, and then once that had dried, airbrush the red segment, then attach the script with some acrylic clear, then brush over the whole emblem with some clear until it has a slightly raised appearance, like the badge would be in real life, well this morning I got them fitted to the car, I'll get some better photo's of the model over the next few days .....
  24. http://mediaprocessor.websimages.com/width/693/crop/192,162,300x225/i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u458/GeeBee1963/Fujimi Porsche 356 Convertible/2013-04-24155548.jpg I do mine by airbrushing a light tan colour, usually Tamiya desert sand, then dry brushing with Tamiya bronze, then top coat with either clear yellow or orange, depending on the shade of wood your aiming for, for this i used clear orange
