I have a small tank type compresser and it only comes on when your using it. So no problem there. I have a 3 year old grand daughter, that when she is here likes to sneek down the stairs and across the basement and jump thru the door of the hobby room, and say hi grandpa. Scares the be jesus out of me every time she does it. The dog in the picture is another one that walks silently, and will come up behind you when you not paying attention and stick her cold wet nose on you arm, scaring the heck out of you. Jeff

Christlols All of these guys are right, you can use anykind of paint you want in an airbrush. It is a personal choice. I bought all of my airbrushes about 3 years ago and all I have ever used in them is Createx Air Brush ready paints. They have just about every color you could ever need and they are a lot better in cost than some of the other paints. There very easy to use and clean up with soap and water, making it very easy to clean the air brush. After use I run some of the Createx Air brush cleaner thru it, till the paint doesnt come out anymore. Than I drop it in a bucket of warm water, spray some water thru it and and let it soak for a while. After every 4 or 5 uses I take it apart and clean it with acetone than soak the parts in warm water. Have never had a problem with it. As far as having to put the paint in a bottle to go into the airbrush, I get around that. I went to the Bearair website (www.bearair.com) they have tops that fit the Createx paint bottles. there called 20MM Fast Blast Bottle Caps ( part # 110780) you put them on the Createx bottles and now you can put it right into the airbrush. When done just set the bottle of paint back on the shelf till the next time you need it. Jeff

Watched the whole game, have been a Steelers fan since I was knee high to an ant. So glad they won. Didnt pay much attention to the 1/2 time show either. as I am not much of a Springsteen fan at all, but cant say that in front of the wife. I will end up sleeping in the outside dog house. So I had 15 minutes to out and have a smoke and a beer. Hey George53, your quote was " I consider myself a normal American male " unquote. Would you define normal please. Jeff

Yup got to go with the George53 as usuall. Its real Harry, dont worry about Clay's spelling, he's a Marine, he dont get paid to spell. He gets paid to adapt and overcome such objects. Not to worry Clay, I spent 7 1/2 years in the corps and I still cant and never have been able to spell. Jeff

Cornpatch replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
No problem Harry, I would be glad to buy you a beer, course if we could get ole George53 to come down, he could by the beers. Have to work on that, course with George, we would have to do it when the Tigers were in town. Jeff -
Real or Model #74 DERAILED!!!
Cornpatch replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Well George53, so we screwed up. 2 for 3 aint bad, and Harry needed to win one. Dont want him to take his ROM and go home you know. Now that ole harry has won one, he has his confidence built back up and things are probley going to get a heck of a lot tougher starting Monday. Well with Harry on a winning streak now, maybe he won't be grouchy if I happen to run into him at the Cell this spring. Everybody have a nice weekend, and see ya all Monday Jeff -
Just saw this guys show on Comedy Central

He's coming to Iowa in February, and my kid just bought 2 tickets for the show last night. I asked him if one was for me, he said h#*& no your not near as pretty as the girl I am taking. Guess if the wife and I go we will have to get our own tickets. One good thing, I guess is that the kid didn't ask me for the money to get his tickets. Dunham is a funny funny man, the kid has all of his DVD's and his Christmas CD, so I guess I will just pop one of them in and watch it, Since I am cheap, it will save me the 100.00 for the 2 tickets. Real or Model #74 DERAILED!!!

Good Morning George53 and you to Harry. Hey George whats Harry up to, sounds like he's trying to become a big time movie star. Had to put the ROM up early cause he's going to be on location in the morning. Sounds like Hollywood talk to me. Anyway, have to go with you again George, as Kingiguana says it looks like its sitting on a table. But that dang Harry can be tricky, especially since everybody on here has been guessing right lately. George you have a good day and an even better week. You to Harry, hope you dont forget us little people when you get to Hollywood. Jeff -
Well george53, you came through again, nice going. Hey Clay, looks like we done good to hook our wagons to Ole George53. Looks like Harry is just going to have to get up a little earlier in the morning, hes not stumping to many people lately. Course I should talk if it weren't for George, I probley wouldn't get a dang thing right. Jeff
-
Well I gotta go along with Clay, been doing alright by following George's lead. So guess I will do the same this week, and say that it's real. Jeff
-
Just to correct you George53------your on a roll, I am just following the leader (guru) Dang George53---your in the middle of a heat wave -31 with wind chill of -50 here in Iowa yesterday and -36 with windchill of -44 here this morning. Great building weather, to dang cold to go outside for anything, only to take the dog out than its quick Jeff
-
Hey George53 dont know where your get your information but my Webster's New Pocket Dictionary defines GURU as a Hindu spiritual advisor or teacher. Now if you want to make a Mongolian Barbeque meal out of that, you go right ahead, but I dont think you will get your goat testicles. Jeff
-
Yup got to agree with ole George53 on this one. Course I usually do as he is the ROM guru. Something about this one just says plastic and or die-cast. Jeff
-
Have to agree with you Harry, been awhile since the Sox won the World Series, at least since 2005. Wish I still lived in Waukegan, as it was a lot easier to get to the Cell than it is now, from Iowa. Also could go everynite when we lived up there. Oh well thank god for cable TV, living in Iowa, I can still follow my Chicago Sports teams. It aint the same as being there, but it will do. Got to feel kinda bad for George53 through. It cant be too much fun having a football team that had a perfect 0 for 16 season. At least da Bears win once in a while. Also a Detriot baseball team that didnt do so good last year. At least the Sox won the division. Sorry George GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeff
-
Okey George53, I followed your lead last week and we missed. Since I know very little about cars, I am a big truck guy, I'll go with you again this week, its real. Yea it is a pain in the a$$, that we have to wait on ole Harry, just cause he has to make money. But since he is a White Sox fan, I am going to have to forgive him this time. Jeff

Real or Model #70 (I think!) FINISHED!
Cornpatch replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Followed George53 last week and got it right. So why fix what aint broke. Seeing that George53 is willing to bet money on it, it almost has to be real. Jeff -
I will say real, just because George53 thinks it real Jeff

Winter is here...and it sucks
Cornpatch replied to VW Dave's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey Harry, I watch the WGN news and I dont remember Tom Skilling predicting that much snow for Chicago. Jeff -
Evilone: I think you had better sleep on it. Anyone who would take an umbrella out in a 60 mph wind, better get it together before he makes any major decisions. LOL Jeff

You ought to live in Iowa. We live under the principal, give it 15 minutes and the weather will change. You never know from day to day, if your going to need the snowblower or the lawnmower. Jeff -
George53 That word your throwing around and have your pantys in a knot about, cant be automaticly deleated. If you look thru all the post on here, as I know you do, you will notice that the word is used in some of the bigger avatars at the bottom of some of the posts. So you would guess that if it is ok to be used there it should be able to be used in the post itself. Ya think. Jeff

Oversteer: First off, let me welcome you to the forum, you will find that its an interesting place. Couple of other hobby site to go along with what the other guys have said. For models and detail parts you might try WWW.MODELCAREXPRESS.NET or WWW.MEGAHOBBY.COM (note these guys are in Upstate N.Y. and with you beinging in the Bronx, turnaround time on your orders should be short) For your hobby tools you might want to checkout WWW.MICROMARK.COM (they will have almost anything you will need) Jeff

I am afraid I am going to have to agree with Mr. Willaman here. Trying to have some one new to modeling learn everything at once takes the fun out of the whole modeling thing. Everybody that is into the modeling thing has there own way of doing things. Again Mr. Willaman, has a good point, about starting with a pre-painted model. I started my son out on these, so he would gain his confidence and also learn to follow the instructions. After he had put together about 8 of these, he came to me and ask if he could try a glue model. Told him to go ahead, he did and hasnt looked back since. Its been almost 4 years now and he is good at what he builds, in fact probley better now than the old man. Remember, this can be an expensive hobby, especially when your just starting out. You dont want to have somebody go out and buy a lot of modeling tools and kits till they find out if after one, if they even complete that, that they dont like it or even want to pursue it further. George53 missing----Has to be all Harrys fault----The shock of seeing the ROM post on a Sunday night did him in. Jeff
