  1. Positively love the combination to make such a nice replica of one of the less glamorous but no less important examples of the GT40.
  2. Thank you kindly and yes it does. One of the display cases by the register has space occupied by models by myself, my Dad, and our customers.
  3. Thank you and yes it is! Haven Hobby, my shop that I run with my Dad in Elyria, Ohio.
  4. All wrapped up! Here's the finished build of my Tamiya 1/20th scale 1979 Ligier JS11. It was built box stock except for the addition of decals from Indycals to replace the totally shot Tamiya kit decals. As just a fun detour of a build I am pretty pleased with the results.
  5. It really does look like a great piece. Between Belkits and Nunu there's scarcely been a better time to be a vintage rally builder.
  6. Thank you. The kit parts were actually already chrome, so that's just the kit chrome. I was considering knocking a bit of the shine off with a semi-matte clear but decided against it because I want the car to pop in my display case.
  7. I'll be keeping an eye on this. Those 275GTB kits are so rarely built and this one looks like it's getting extra care.
  8. Next step, the beginning of the Indycals decals. These really are nice to work with. The large stripes at the edges of the sidepod could have been an absolute nightmare but they laid down nicely with just a bit of Tamiya Mark Fit Strong.
  9. These look really great. The Monogram MG TC is one of those kits I keep promising myself I'll watch out for.
  10. Genuinely a pretty build of a very pretty car. These aren't easy kits to work with but they are so worth it.
  11. A brief box-stock project that I'm enjoying. This is the Tamiya 1/20th scale 1979 Ligier JS11. The kit decals were toast on account of the age of the kit, so I'm using a set from Indycals which will allow me to build the car numbered and lettered for Jacky Ickx's brief time as a stand-in for the injured Patrick Depallier. Color is Mr Color C-34 Sky Blue under Tamiya TS-13 Clear.
  12. Ebbro looks to be building on their great range of F1 kits. At Shizuoka they've displayed an upcoming all-new 1972 Tyrrell 005 as driven by Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevert AND a 1965 Lotus 33 that's modified from the Tamiya Lotus 25 tooling!
  13. Is the trim at least proud enough of the body sides that a few passes with a good scriber would sharpen it up to make it easier to foil or to mask and spray with the chrome of your choice? (lately Vallejo Metal Color for me)
  14. Looks like after some fits and starts the Aoshima Zonda is happening. Here it is in test shot form at the ongoing 2021 Shizuoka show.
  15. In my daily check-in for product arrivals at my distributors, I came across these two announcements from Gofer. #1108 "Ford 427 Competition Engine" and #1130 "Top Fuel Dragster Frame". They surely LOOK like Revell Parts Pack kits so I'm wondering is this a private label deal with Atlantis or what's the word?
  16. The more I look at the side window opening on this body the more it seems bizarrely off and the more I question "How did this happen?" I mean, I can get things like scaled examples of compound curves being a little open to interpretation but this is literally the distance between two parallel lines divided by 25.
  17. This looks really fantastic. The color, the wheel & tire package, and the stance all really set it off.
  18. I'd have to agree on this. Restoring the tooling with an accurate wheel & tire combination and making it so that those sidepipes are just an optional extra would be something I'd welcome.
  19. A lovely build of one of Tamiya's finest F1 kits.
  20. Looks like such a great model of an interesting little car. Definitely like how it turned out!
  21. Good image showing the top of a typical Vertex style magneto from that time period.
  22. Looks absolutely lovely to me.
  23. Atlantis just posted these test shots.
  24. Quite the contrary. Tamiya is undeniably a much larger company than Revell and they have no issues whatsoever communicating to their much wider customer base the progress on upcoming products. Dedicating resources to getting potential customers excited about your products is kind of a thing companies that sell products are supposed to do.
  25. Not entirely true. Some of their most recent tooling has actually been fairly well praised. Their all-new for '18 1/48th scale Bristol Beaufighter got a lot of accolades for being superior to Tamiya's. Their new-tool non-fillet tail P-51D in 1/32nd scale was also quite a success. This also doesn't take into account the sheer amount of ICM stuff you'll find in their boxes. There's been a lot of improvement from Revell as of late, but their unwillingness to demonstrate that to the world has been baffling. I will concede that they're still pretty much awful at 1/72nd scale armor. lol
