  1. This is definitely a nicely turned out example of one of the most daring looking cars to win the World Championship.
  2. My P4 has crossed a major threshold in the build. The chassis and interior are done and the first color coats of Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red are down. It's so amazing to get to see this car take shape!
  3. This is really some eyebrow raising stuff. I'm quite curious to see how it goes together. Also, was it not possible with the files to break down the rear bodywork of the monocoque along panel lines?
  4. You mean the Elky street machine kit that - if AMT would have had the foresight to illuminate the built-up engine bay picture - would have had tons more builders grabbing it for parts because of the amazing EFI roots blower and serpentine accessory drive setup?
  5. Beautifully detailed Beetle!
  6. This looks so lovely and ready to just motor off to the nearest café.
  7. That really is a nice build of what is an all-time great kit from Tamiya! Here's hoping after the success of the Lotus reissues last year they're reconsidering pulling that one out of the vault.
  8. Not a good candidate for making sure Heller kits stop tempting me. lol This is a really lovely build!
  9. In terms of "projects that would take a bit of work", how viable do you think it would be to actually un-customize the Sweat Hogs tooling to make a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix available again?
  10. This is one of my bucket list kits for sure. I'm very eager to see how your build turns out!
  11. This turned out so fantastic. I love the presence and tidiness of the finished model.
  12. Big and happy step forward with the build. It's always exciting to see the project sitting on its wheels.
  13. You're not wrong that vintage gassers could stand to be represented by newer, less troublesome tooling. Kits like Revell's '57 Fords, '40 Willys, and '62 Corvette all show that the subject matter sells well when represented by modern tooling. I would probably posit, though, that if anyone were to pull the trigger on a modern kit of a poorly served gasser subject then it's high time for a not terrible '33 Willys.
  14. The plan as of right now is to use Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red though I have a good friend in my IPMS chapter who might have some Rosso Corsa by Gravity. I'll be using the Indycals set for Scarfiotti & Parkes at the '67 24 Hours of Daytona. Your build is fantastic and certainly gives me some ideas. I also made some additional progress last night, getting the kit PE and fabric belts built up.
  15. Looks really good. One of those conversions that just makes sense.
  16. I've started a model I've been putting off for ages. This is the Fujimi 1/24th scale Ferrari 330P4. I've wanted this kit for years and a few years ago at the Kirtland IPMS show I was able to pick one up minus decals for a deal. After much hemming and hawing and "I don't want to mess it up" I've decided it's time. So far I've started primary painting on the interior, which is AK Real Color Aluminum, Mr Color Madder Red, and Vallejo Model Air NATO Black.
  17. We've sold a few of them through my shop. Trumpeter has done a small but growing line of 1/200th scale ships that are absolute monsters. Admittedly, detail wise they're not quite on par with top level 1/350th scale ship kits like those from Very Fire or ICM, or even top level 1/700th scale ship kits like from Flyhawk. But they are very impressive when built and you get quite a lot of kit for your money.
  18. Really fantastic build of a seriously coveted kit. One of the Fisher sports cars are REALLY high on my resin want list.
  19. The front windshield was definitely finicky. I clamped the frame to the glass as the glue - AK Interactive Wolverine PVA - dried which straightened it out some but it's still not the greatest fit. Oh well. Typical MPC imprecision. lol As to the workspace, Thank You! It looks like a hobby shop because it is! It's Haven Hobby in Elyria, Ohio, which I own and operate with my Dad.
  20. Another dead project off my long-term shelf! lol This is the MPC 1/25th scale Dodge Dora which I have had hanging out in my "stalled projects" queue for about eight years. I finally decided just to button it up even though I discovered somewhere in among several house moves I lost the driver's seat. Oh well! Paint is Testors One Coat Lime Ice over Tamiya Fine White Primer.
  21. I completely agree. I built one of the Offy version kits and it was an absolute joy with quite a lot of clever engineering. The detail and the daintiness of the finished model was really something to enjoy. It's such a shame that we weren't able to see more kits along those lines by Revell because modern kits of vintage American racing subjects that aren't stock cars or drag racers are so few and far between.
  22. Now that is some sweet looking tooling. Knowing how nicely Meng kits fit together and looking at the parts breakdown this is probably going to be a really sweet build, too.
  23. The old kit is hideously inaccurate as a representation of an actual Kurtis midget. I give a lot of leeway to Atlantis whose business model is explicitly nostalgia reissues rather than selling specifically kits meant to be built into accurate models depicting real life objects. If the new Kurtis Midget kit had been released with the V8-60 and Offy in the same box and with 100% licensed liveries at a premium price it would have likely been a success similar to those enjoyed by Salvinos JR or Moebius or NuNu when it comes to vintage racing subjects kits. In modeling in the 21st century, there is no sense trying to beat Round 2 in the race to the bottom.
  24. This is a really fantastic build of one of the Speedway's most celebrated cars!
  25. A little flashy but nothing too awful particularly at the price point. Congrats to Atlantis for getting this one across the finishing line.
