Yeah, it is. I normally stick tape to my inside forearm before I apply it, to reduce the tackiness. Looks like I forgot in a few places. No worries, it'll be super shiny, soon!
-
Nice one mate. I appreciate it. couldn't resist removing the tape before bed, tonight...glad I did. I'm happy with the results. The lilac body goes well with the purple roof.
-
Thanks David please post your Electra build. I'd like to see it ?

Thanks Espo, I'm glad your digging it! Yes, the lace and the stars are nail art decals. £1.25 a sheet on eBay. Just search 'nail art decals' I've got a bunch of them now.. hibiscus flowers, skulls, roses, tartan, zebra.. The lace pattern decals seem to be mainly black, but there are some white ones around. They behave well, respond to setting solutions and don't seem to react to clearcoat. Thanks for your generous comments, everyone. It means a lot.

Thanks for following the progress chaps. got the decals on last night. Gotta let them dry, then clear, followed by the purple candy, then more clear.

Masked up the roof again and sprayed some black around the edges of the panels and did sunburst patterns on the C pillars.
-
As the fine tape likes to lift on the curves, I decided to go ahead and add some colour to the design. I removed the outer line to see how it looks. The blue shifts to purple and I reckon it'll look nice under the purple candy. The panels will have a black shadow fade, before lace decals are applied.

I discovered that metalflake nail polish can block a gravity fed airbrush. My Iwata HP-c took a lot of time to unblock and get working again. The cheap siphon fed airbrush which came with the compressor worked without any problems, although I did need to turn up the pressure to nearly 40 psi. got a really nice glitter base for the pattern now.

Oi! Nice one! That's really good looking. looks like yours is riding on Pegasus Sov's, too. I like your shade of purple. I must admit, I just used what I had without mixing a particular shade. I'm going to cut off the moulded headlights and use the custom ones, like you did. I plan to use a trimmed tube grille from the AMT 58 Chevy custom parts. Or have a go at making one from stainless steel wire.

Thanks man I will be adding a patterned roof. The Electracutioner has one under purple candy ? Hopefully, something like this:

I shot some silver last night... Then tonight, some nail polish. I used Mr Colour levelling thinner for the first time. It went down smoooooth! ( I taped the hood to the roof, so the shade would match the body)

Nice one Espo! that could've saved me some time and aggravation. I'll get some.
-
I had a closer look at my inspiration photos and saw the Electracutioner has a tuck n roll dashboard. so I added some half round styrene strips to the top of the dash ?
-
Yeah man i love 'em!

I have a set of Pegasus Sovereigns and because this screw-bottom kit is probably derived from a promo, It's an easy job to slam it into the weeds.

My last build was all rusty and grimy, so it's back to shiny again. found a car online as my inspiration, the Electracutioner.

Love these 59's and I'm a sucker for purple!

Citroen HY van - used and abused
geetee66 replied to geetee66's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks Espo yeah, these vans seem to have been abused by their owners and the elements. Online research shows nearly all restoration projects attacking huge swathes of rust. Some are now 99% weld. -

Lol! Nice one! I'll change it. that's google translations for you ? I didn't do very well with French at school. I was taught by a Glaswegian. Couldn't understand him when he spoke English, so no chance with French. He made everything sound like a threat.! Happy days....we used to get the cane, too. -
I needed an antidote to all the chrome, candy and flake I've been using on my recent builds. weathering makes a nice change from polishing. It was fun. I shall do more. I wired the engine and detail painted it. I don't know why. It can't be seen, now the body is on. I just enjoy the whole process, I guess. there's a bit of junk chucked in the back and in the cab and some delinquent garçons have tagged it, while it sat in a Paris suburb. a while ago, the tail light lens was broken. The lens hasn't been replaced and a bare bulb now shows. A Gauloise was lit in its honour. The note on the windshield says they're at lunch,( which is from about 11am to 4:30 pm. Longer, if it's wet/cold/hot or a weekday.)
