Incredible! Superb work all-round... I wish I could build like that....
-
This kit took a bit longer to complete than I thought it would, mainly due to work. I didn't mind though, as I enjoyed the process of making it as much as I did completing it. I decided to build it box-stock, as for me, this kit presented enough of a challenge without trying any modifications. I added some photoetch and wired the distributor. I added metal exhaust tips and used BMF everywhere. The interior upholstery and door panels also received BMF treatment. The radio antennae were chopped-off and replaced with silver wire. I liked this kit, although there were some alignment problems with the interior / body / chassis. The amount of fragile BMF on the body trim, made final assembly a bit tricky, but I quite like the results. The wheels were particularly well moulded and with a bit of black wash, really came out well, in my opinion. The tyres/tires have a good tread pattern as well. Nice one, RM! A note to anyone planning to build one of these: The rear wheel skirts must be glued in place after the chassis is fitted to the body. I nearly made a mistake with this, but remembered to check it just before I glued them..! If I make another one of these (and I probably will), I’ll pay more attention to test-fitting major components before I apply any detailing. The colour doesn’t really ‘ping’ in the pictures as well as it does to the eye, but it’s Rover Kingfisher Blue Metallic, with a Peugeot shade of white on the roof and rear deck. I hope you like it, thanks for looking.

From what I can see they look good. I love the purple on the 55 get a better camera, bruv. Your builds deserve it -
Hi Chris Nice cars! The Merc looks mean! Keep 'em coming!

Marcos, I could run out of superlatives to describe how much I like this! It's utterly fantastic! The finish is unbelievably superb! If you are taking this to a competition, make sure you leave space in your car for the trophies!

This shows I have got a LOT to learn! Amazing underside detailing and that 'Stang suspension is the mutt's nuts!

This is superb! The engine detailing is so clean. I love the flamed rocker-covers. Good choice of colours, too. Gives the car visual weight, if you know what I mean... Lovely!

Finished at last! I didn't like this kit when I started it about 8 weeks ago. There were a lot of things to put right. Some terrible mould lines and deformed parts. This was also my 1st go at using decals. They were a lot trickier than I'd imagined. By the end of it though, I had grown to like it and when the chrome went on, it transformed it. I used an MCG photoetch grille set, but decided not to use all the badges and emblems...I reckoned the body looked busy enough without them. Paint and clear was Halfords spray-can and a ton of elbow-grease. Hope you like it

Cool! I had to do a double-take as well...! Nicely done custom. I hope you start building more... nice one!

After much consideration, I realized the old gear shifter looked a bit rubbish, so I've made a new one: I carved it from a bit of sprue with files and a #11 blade. Painted silver under Tamiya clear red. I also added a dog-leg to the lever as well as a corrugated rubber boot with a BMF base plate

Your 59 is looking CRISP! Lovely job on the BMF...the black wash really brings out the detail nicely. I have the stock and the lowrider versions waiting to be built. I also noticed how much work needs to be done on the trunk lid. There are loads of sink-marks. You've done a fine job smoothing it out. Nice colour combo as well looking forward to the finished pics!

Thanks man I appreciate it

I think I enjoy doing the interiors as much as I enjoy building the engines... This was my first go at using PE parts for the interior. I used fine wire around the instrument binnacle. The floor and rear shelf are flocked. The gearnob was made from an off-cut of red sprue. The steering wheel was in the kit (the stock version was very distorted). I used one of the chrome bullets for the other grille version as the centre. Now to the Fred Cady decals. I've not used decals in 25 years. These were tricky to lay down and incredibly fragile. I like the contrast of the black on the red. Saw a picture of something like this online. Now I've got to wait for the weather to improve so I can clearcoat it. I successfully managed to cut the centre out of the bumper/radiator grille and fittted the MCG photoetch version. Well worth £10.00. I'll post a pic of that later... cheers

Here's the ride height pics. I didn't like the kit wheels, they looked wrong. These rims came from the first kit I did, the AMT 32 Phaeton. Couldn't get it any lower that this without having to seriously re-work stuff. I didn't want to get bogged-down with tricky body mods as I wanted to finish it before Easter. The sills (rocker panels??) are a scale 5 inches from the road.

I had a blast making this kit last year....so I'm keen to see what everyone else does with it.. how's it coming along? Got any more pics yet?

Raul I've been staring at the pictures for about 15 minutes! I love it so much! Your paint skills are superb! The gloss looks so deep. This has real flair and imagination. A real inspiration to newbies like me, to push myself further. I love this hobby...I haven't watched TV for ages...too busy with glue and styrene now Thanks for showing us your amazing work -
I could run out of superlatives to describe how much I like this! Tremendous workmanship! A real beauty keep 'em coming! cheers!

Well done ! I don't have the nerve to attempt re-working the suspension or exhaust myself, so hats-off to ya! Nice colour choice, too.
-
Gorgeous! That looks super-clean. I agree with the others....very classy looking ride respect

Cheers Guys! Robert, I know what you mean about getting the nerve to cut into it. At least you can get your kits easily over there. I had to import mine from Canada via eBay. Cost me $30 incl p&p, so I couldn't afford to mess it up by trying out some new techniques. Maybe I'll try it sometime....

Thankyou Maybe it was overkill with the Future over the Tamiya clear, but it helped smooth-over areas that were difficult to wet sand during earlier stages of painting. Here are some pics of the engine and oily side... The purple on the mufflers and dampers is less blue to the naked eye. Can't seem to get the light right for that colour..
-
I'll take some better shots later tonight, but here's the engine minus the aircleaners. I know the carbs will not be easily visible, but I couldn't help myself.... I'll roll the car onto it's side and take some shots of the oily side later as well... cheers
