  1. Righto, the chop went ok, considering I've never tried it before.. I managed to get the roof and the body mated together. A bit of putty and superglue did the trick. I'll need to drill a hole above the windshield for the wiper arm. I decided to leave door handles off, as it looks sleeker with them removed. More jiggery-pokery is required to shoehorn the 354ci Caddy engine into the space designed for a smaller flathead. It'll fit in the end. I had to make some engine mount brackets. I'll post some pics of that once the paint has dried a bit more. feel free to comment.
  2. This is looking good. Did you ever get around to finishing it? Give us thew link to the finished pics, if you completed the build, because I'm doing one of these right now. I also took my cues from that black/red custom.
  3. Love the colour and the contrast with the scallops. I reckon the scallops placement on the body works really well, accentuating the centre lines of the trunk and hood. I just bought another of these kits, as I loved the one I recently made. The molding was crisp and apart from a minor front bumper tweak (They seem to tilt up on the rear edge), they go together well. Looking forward to seeing this finished!
  4. This is the level to which I aspire. I think I'll have to practice a lot more, or win the lottery and give up work and spend all day doing my cars.
  5. If you had decided to do a road car, I would've thought it was a cool idea. Now I see the massive engine and fat slicks, I reckon it's sub-zero! Fantastic! How about cutting the rear part to align with the tailgate and trim any shut lines with chrome?
  6. While I was looking at research images of some of my pending kits, I saw some custom 36 Fords and I had to build one. This is the AMT Dick Tracy 5 window coupe. I thought it would better sitting lower and with a chopped roof. I've never attempted this before, but I discovered Bandit Resins do a chopped 3 window body. If this doesn't work, I'll get one of theirs. I've added plates to the axles to adjust the ride height and I made the fender skirts. I'm thinking about putting a chromed-up 6 carb Caddy engine in it. I've bought a photoetch MCG grille for it and I'll make Caddy-style bullets for the tail lights. Body will be satin black and the fenders will be metallic red. First cut: Second cut done: Getting there.... Let me know what you think More pics soon!
  7. Good work, mate! I love this kit. I just bought another one on eBay. I made the SD version as a lowrider, but now I want to do a 60's custom with a lace roof and bellflower exhausts.
  8. Very original build. Top skills.. Nice one!
  9. That's brilliant! What scale is that?

That is one sweeeeet ride! I love the rich, deep colour. I did one of these recently and I just bought the custom version because this is one of the best-made kits that AMT produced. Yours is a real beauty.
  11. Blimey! That's a big kit! I bet it takes loads of paint to do the body. It's looking really good. Can't wait to see this 'under glass'
  12. Keep the flat black paint! (Bright yellow metalflake would also be kool) The stance is great and the wheels look right. Nice one!
  13. I love it. You still have the skills, mate! Very tidy work and the colour is really nice.
  14. Bee you tee full! I know this has been said before, but that is a classy looking build. You got it just right.
  15. Wicked! It looks like it spent 10 years on the sea bed!

  18. 55 Ford Panel Van cobra: Detail Master air filter & distributor. 32 Ford deuce. Detail Master photo etch brackets and scratch built air cleaner. Mesh made from gauze found in old cafettiere. Added generator wires and weathered with pastels. 59 Chevy El Camino. Blower/intake are included in the kit, but the scoop needed BMF to cover poor finish. Detail Master wires.
  19. C L U N K !! (that's the sound of my jaw hitting the floor...) What can I possibly say that would do justice to your amazing builds? Not only do you have awesome skill and ability, but your photos are easily some of the best I've ever seen on any forum. Do you use an SLR? The lighting is perfect and the depth of field is primo. As for my favourite...tough choice. The blue Hornet has one of the deepest gloss I've ever seen...and it's SO clean. It's so good, the manufacturer should pay you for doing the kit so well. They should use the photo on the box art. Builds like yours are what I aspire to. Thanks for showing us your beautiful work.
  20. I like this a lot! Did you take any shots of the engine?
  21. Hey Jim, massive respect to you mate. You have tons of skill. That is one beautiful automobile! I really dig the paint and the chrome button grille is a tasty detail. Thanks for the info about the licence plate, too. I like learning new facts and I won't forget that one. I'm going back to have another drool over it now and to dream about owning a 1:1 version!!
  22. You nailed it mate! Obviously you have a talent for this. I guess I speak for all of us here when I say we hope to see more of your builds. BMF is strangely rewarding, isn't it? Looks like you got the hang of it already. Nice one
  23. A fine build! I had to look twice to check it's not 1:1!
  24. Sorry, no step-by-step pics of the exhaust, but I'll try and describe my method. I took a short length of solder and bent it to a tight 'U' around a needle file handle, then trimmed it to size. I filed a taper into the end that would fit into the ferrule. The ferrule was from a knackered paintbrush. I cut it down to the right length and epoxied it onto the tapered end of the solder. I filed the other end of the solder to make it rounded and epoxied that to the existing part of the kit exhaust. The inside if the cone was given some matt black and the curved part of the solder was given orange and blue clear washes for heat staining. I hope that helps..!
