Mobil, Texaco, Gulf, Shell and others....
R.D.F. replied to House of 13's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I built a model like it many years ago. Bought it for 89 cents because I liked the boom and there wasn't any other model that had it. Please don't beat me up if I have the wrong model year or boom on it. -

A few questions. Did you have the wheels and tires ? Or did buy them from a vendor. Did you make the headers ?

What did you see on the road today?
R.D.F. replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Long track, tall handlebars, no windshield and paddles on the track. I'm going to say that is used for sand drags or water crossing. I'm not talking about the car, lol. -

Or no people at all, lol. Could tell you how we carrier a Corvair engine in the back seat but that's a different story.

Still not getting notifications. I even use the button on the bottom of the reply page. It turns green but never get anything to notify me.

My friend's 57 had the battery never tied down. The thing slid forward and the positive post connected to the front seat brace. That was fun.

Here is a wiring diagram. Large red wire from generator goes to large positive starter post. Positive battery cable also goes to the same place.

Can you use acetone as a releasing agent on it ?

Help finishing my first spray booth
R.D.F. replied to dawgvet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would think any Acrylic clear spray paint would work. If the wood is dry it will take a few coats to seal the grain. Building with the good side in would be a plus. Or some cheap roll on paint from a big box store. -
Rickard I'll repeat with other people have stated, great build ! As a model master I have to ask you a question that only people like you know. I glued my finger to my forehead. Do I use a hammer to break them apart?

I have a 2010 Chevy HHR SS with a grill like this. What I want to do is use the Molotow chrome pen on the crosshatch. Is there a UV clear I could put over the Molotow and not dull it ? I was thinking of Pledge as it is a UV product.

Testors silver paint question
R.D.F. replied to R.D.F.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I agree with color difference. The flat looks a little darker but why isn't it flat ? Do both need a gray or black primer ? I forgot to mention, this is from the bottle. -
I bought Testors enamel silver aluminium and flat steel. I painted both on a white plastic spoon with no primer under them. The silver aluminium is dull and the flat steel has a shine. Ideas on this ?

Yes I got that when I tried to answer a question this morning about 3 am EST.

I have Chrome and Windows 10. All pictures that I copy from web sites or are downloaded from my camera go into Cloud onedrive. I move them over to my pictures and then use "choose files" at bottom of reply screen. Hope this helps.

Just posted something new and no notifications. If a mod is reading this I would like to correct the problem. Thanks

.Mike When you replied to my question the bell icon showed I had a message. Where you told me to go to set my notification settings has always been the same since the first day. Again I use to see notifications. I have on the right side of the screen in red "Browser Notification Disabled". I have Chrome and went into those settings to allow your browser yesterday, but the message in red is still there. Let see what happens. Thanks

I see people have answered to my building questions but I don't get notifications anymore, when I first signed up I did. Could you tell me what to do to correct this ? Thanks

Fabricate transmission tunnel
R.D.F. replied to R.D.F.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I fooling around with that now. Drive shaft tunnel is easy, it's the two parts that would make up the bell area in front of it that's holding me back. Took the cone off a plastic funnel but shaped it wrong. I will try it again. -
Fabricate transmission tunnel

I know what that's from, he first lived in Nassau. That's a different accent than from Suffolk. On a side note. Who or how can I get the notification thing at the top of the page to work ? I use to see that I had them but it has gone south. Under settings it shows I should be getting them. Thanks
