I like Fred's idea of the plain brown wraper. Sleeperball. Anything goes as long it is plain and boring on the outside. Wish they made a kit of the 79-91 Crown vic. would be perfect. A porsche can be boring right, that was the 914 wasn't it? Tim

I have used HO scale slot car armiture wire wrapped around a pin as good return springs. Tim -
I have used rattle cans for quite a few cars. I have found that if I spray it almost to the point of running. it will flatten out and produce a good job. Thanks to an old friend, Larry Hornsby Jr for that info. The rattle can job on my BRE Trans Am came out fantastic. Tim

least messy airbrush
wagonmaster replied to foxbat426's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I used to think the same way that a spray can was easier and quicker to use. Until I set up my own spray booth using an old entertainment center, I then began using the air brush more and more. only using the cans for primer. I have moved and now don't have that luxury anymore. I still break out the air brush but not as often. I have a Paasche H-series single action and a Testors double action. I however use the Paasche the most. I think it sprays better than the Testors. Tim -

In Salt Lake, there is the club that puts on the GSL. I cannot remember the name though. Maybe you could contact someone through the web site or even the model car museum. Tim -

Question for Mopar "knowitalls"
wagonmaster replied to cruz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use autocolor library it gives you the paint # and can match it up to other GM, Ford, or Mopar brands easily. I found the my 1-1 scale 71 Buick Sportwagon is painted Cortez Gold, first year color for Buick but same color was available on the '70 Oldsmobiles. I know that Scale Auto did an article on Mopar colors, listing whens, what years, etc. Tim -
Could really use spray can advice
wagonmaster replied to JasonFL's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use Dupli-color auto spray can paint. I works well straight out of the can. I however heat the can by holding the can under the hot water faucet. once it gets warm shake it repeat until it doesn't cool off while shaking it. I layed down a beautiful black on my Burt Reynolds edition Trans Am then a Dupli-color gloss clear. came out great. I too use theDupli-color hi build primer. mostly gray as white doesn't hide the color or body work well, IMO. The factory didn't use a certain color primer, they used what ever they had. Tim -

Warming spraycans in dehyddrator
wagonmaster replied to ERIK88's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I usually run the fawcett till it is hot then hold the can under. when the can is warm remove from the water and shake it. I repeat until tthe can no longer turns cold when you shake it. Tim
