    It's a Duesy!

Old build. Not sure which kit, Monogram maybe? Built box stock. Whitewalls are yellowed from age, but paint has held up well.
  2. A couple old builds from over 25 years ago, maybe longer... Triumph TR3. I think it was an Entex kit. Chevy Nova
  3. Dodge pickup promo towing a scratchbuilt cargo trailer
  4. A little progress. Still more sanding and priming to go. I made the wide whites using a method I learned here on the forum. An old dog CAN learn new tricks!
  5. A little progress. Filling and smoothing the body imperfections and the graft joints has taken more time than I thought. I did get a reasonably convincing AC compressor fitted to the engine and the chassis is coming along. Rear anti-roll bar was made from a paper clip. Working on fitting the interior tub from the Revell '66 Chevelle wagon and adapting the GTO dash.
  6. ??
  7. If you are referring to the photo I posted, I did not build it. That is the Danbury Mint diecast. It is beautiful though. I have two unbuilt reissues and one old glue bomb that I hope to do something with in the future.
  8. Very nice! That must be the kit that I got the shortened body from for my funny altered. I didn't remember.
  9. Nice!
  10. Found this one while digging through some old kits. I acquired it a long time ago as a glue bomb and had started remaking it as a lead sled custom. Top is chopped and the custom front/rear pans and headlight/taillight extensions from the original kit molded in. I think it might be time to finish this one up!
  11. Digging through some of my collection the other day and I discovered I have two reissue kits and an old glue bomb kit that I acquired somewhere along the line. Now I need to do something with one of them!
  12. That model did not have an engine, just oil pan molded in.
  13. Engine will be close, but not exact. Still need to decide if I'm going to replicate the AC compressor, plug wires, etc. The 1:1 1/25
  14. Actually, our interior is full custom and uses PT Cruiser bucket seats front and rear with consoles. I will try to replicate that as best I can. I pirated seats from two PT Cruiser kits and will scratchbuild the consoles, just like I did on the 1:1! I'm using the interior tub from the Revell '66 Chevelle kit since it has better features than the '65. This is just a quick mock-up:
  15. Yeah, I noticed that. But I think it might be too late to fix it now.
  16. OK, I've shared a number of older builds in the car, truck, drag race and diecast sections, so It's time to share one that is currently on the bench. It has been a long time since I've built a full model and this one is stretching my skills. I am attempting to replicate our 1:1 custom '64 Tempest wagon. It is a major kit-bash as I have robbed pieces/parts from six kits already! Here is the 1:1 inspiration: Since no one made a Tempest wagon model (except for the '65 resin kit I should have bought before they went out of production, would have been a LOT easier to just swap front doghouse!), I've begun creating my own by grafting an AMT '65 Chevelle wagon roof onto a Polar Lights '64 GTO. This is the roof grafted at the front. Pretty good fit considering it's two different brands. Roof fitted to the rear quarters. More filling and smoothing needed. GTO hood scoops smoothed After much filing, fitting, gluing, putty, primer, etc., a quick mock-up on the GTO chassis. This was also my first attempt at scribing door lines to convert from 2-door to 4-door configuration. Not an easy job, especially the rear door dog leg. Still a LOT of work to do!
  17. Old build Solido Ford pickup converted into a hot rod. Wheels and tires came from a large scale plastic kit of unknown origin. Rear axle is from a 1/25 semi, if I remember correctly. Stock version shown for comparison.
  18. Back in summer of 2000 we bought one of the first PT Cruisers in our area. It was all-black and I wanted to do something custom without getting too wild (I'm a conservative guy anyway). I suggested 2-tone to the wife, but she could not envision it. So....I took apart a Maisto 1/18 model and the transition began. First was the 2-tone red over black paint followed by lowering the suspension and adding taller tires on the back. Lake pipes were added (borrowed from a Mercury custom), as was a custom-made brass receiver hitch and scratchbuilt cat-back "dual" exhaust. When the model was complete, I showed it to the wife and she was then onboard to do the paint work on the 1:1 PT. All of the other mods (lowered suspension, tires, exhaust, lake pipes, etc.) had already been done. We also had a 1:1 custom trailer that was painted to match the PT. I built a replica of that in 1/18 scale by carving the main body from a solid block of basswood which was then sealed and painted. The rear axle and wheels came from another PT diecast while the fenders were cut off a diecast '34 Ford. We still have the 1:1 PT, but sold the trailer a number of years ago. The 1:1 version (missing lake pipes at the moment).
  19. This is another old build. Used the Lindberg Little Red Wagon for the body and old-school leaf spring suspension and axles from unknown monster truck kit. Powered by Hemi of course! A lot of scratchbuilding and details on this one, including: - box tube frame and rear hitch - converting the axles for poseable steering - working "hydraulic" rams on the steering - full plumbing and electrical wiring - working "hydraulic" rams on the forward-hinged body - double tube rollbar - instrument control panel borrowed from a helicopter kit And a pic alongside diecast Little Red Wagon
  20. I built this combo a long time ago. The truck was mildly customized and converted to 4x4. I do not remember which kit I used. I think the trailer came in a Dodge Coronet kit, but not sure. The garden tractor was scratchbuilt using left over parts from the parts bin.
  21. The Model A was built to replicate a truck that my brother-in-law and his buddy drove from Boston to Los Angeles back in the 40's or early 50's. My sister gave me a B&W photo to use as reference along with some comments she had overheard regarding color, etc. After my brother-in-law died she gave the model back to me. It was built stock except for the '32 V8 wheels and the lettering on the doors to match the 1:1. Both of these builds are over 35 years old. I worked at a Dodge dealer when the Little Red Express was introduced. We had a blast "test-driving" them before they were delivered to their new owners (minus a few miles of rubber from the back tires!). I built this one box-stock except for the chains on the tailgate.

Here's one I missed... Box stock T bucket (except for the chopped top).
  24. Very nice!
