i drew this today 10/14/23 it is KITT driving along a desert highway from the pilot of the show which is a two parter called knight of the phoenix 20 minutes of that pilot was filmed over the course of 3 days a friday saturday and a sunday and edited together for a presentation reel to show to the nbs execs in nyc for the 82 tv season it was stuck on red eye flight to nyc to get there in time monday morning after they green lit the show the started to film season 1 and the last thing they filmed was the rest of the pilot two parter which they had to bring back the actors from that were filmed for scene in that 20 minute presentation and there were some continuity errors that poped up due to filming parts way later like david's sideburns had become fuller and KITT's front end and the look of dash changed a bit so things kept going back and forth and tward the end michael knight was shot in his sholder which was filmed as part of the 20 minute pilot presentation but for the rest of the shot that were new they could not remember which sholder he was shot in so you see hime sometimes holding his left shoulder and other shots holding his right sholder

I have fun making the photo edits And the interior is my favorite part of making Knight rider models with all the control buttons and dash and screens and the parts that light up in the show that have to be painted

Thank you as for the red color for KITT’s new body in the 1991 tv movie knight rider 2000 it was originally going be black and have similar rims to the ones used on KITt and have KITT’s original gull wing steering wheel and voice modulator and the body looked far more closer to the 1988 Pontiac banshee concept car but disagreements with the original knight rider creator glenn a Larson ment they had to nix using the original KITT design and the network had plans to make this into a pilot movie for a new knight rider show that had Shawn replace Michael knight as KITT’s partner and driver and wanted it red both to attract the female viewing audience over the male viewing audience as they would have a strong female lead the viewing numbers for the pilot film were good but not good enough to warrant a series and even David went to the execs and suggested doing five knight rider 2000 tv movies a year and he would be willing to come back to guest star in all of them or a few of them if they did not interfere with the production of the show he currently was the lead on at the time that was at it’s hight in popularity baywatch

this is amt/ertl's early 2000's reissued kit of the Knight 4000 aka KIFT which Michael Knight yanked KIFT's ai micro processor and replaced it with the Knight 2000's ai micro processor aka KITT and also placed KITT's scanner into the nose of the Knight 4000 much to it's creator and designer Russell Maddock surprise and anger when he realized what Michael had done without his knowledge or permission which was fair cause Russell had deactivated KITT and sold some of his computer tech to research firms and had KITT's body recycled with out Devon miles knowledge or permission after being reactivated KITT after 10 years and finding out his body and monitor was gone became pretty sassy with his responses but was still the same personality KITT had had prior and KITT still had his humanity even though he was not human I have the Knight Rider 2000 theme by Jan hammer playing in the background of the video I used my custom made Knight Rider 2000 figures to replicate the ending scene from the movie as bast as I could

this is the aoshima knight Rider season 4 KITT kit I glued the headlights closed as they no longer opened them for night driving scenes which was put into effects late season 2 and were to only use the fog lights for night driving scene also in season 4 the front nose was redesigned and made more angular by famous car customizer George Barris he also designed and built the convertible mode and super pursuit mode aka spm for season 4 I custom made the tow bar receiver that would connect the hero car to a Camera truck for driving scenes with the actors in KITT out on actual roads they also had a tow bar receiver on the insert car also I also did a couple edited pics of the model

I used the amt/ertl 1993 Pontiac firebird snap fast plus kit to make this model I modified the dash and the rims I also swapped the stock steering wheel for a spare knight rider gull wing steering wheel from my aoshima knight rider season 4 KITT kit I also did a couple photo edits of the model which are the last two pics

very nice work i wish they would have retooled the 76 dart sport kit into the 77 aspen r/t when they retooled the 76 duster kit into 77 volare roadrunner kit then did the same as the volare roadrunner kit through 1980 model year with the aspen rt

i got many more knight rider models planed some actual knight rider KITTs and some are my own creations and 2 other knight rider inspired models though i still have to track down a couple particular firebirds and get 5 aoshima knight rider KITT kits 3 of the same kit and one each of 2 different kits

i really love knight rider as it is a mix of two of my favorite genres sci-fi and crime solving procedural dramas the thing is i only got into knight rider late august of this year when i started to watch clips from episodes on youtube and then found a cool channel that has episode commentaries loaded with behind the scenes info and lots of other awesome info on the different cars used in the show and i got a blu-ray knight rider complete series box set early last month and binge watched the full series and learned about KITTs systems and capabilities and propulsion the thing is we never see the turbine turbo jet engine in the show just mentioned it we also never saw the underside of KITT unless they had it disguised with the skid plates or a full cover over the full bottom or good under hood shots in the show

thank you KITT's turbine turbojet engine ran on liquid nitrogen not gas but in early season 1 episodes KITT was able to use any type of combustible fuel and could separate the harm full by products and break them down to the base molecules as KITT did not have a normal exhaust system but something else that can withstand high temps like from a turbo jet but not a ram jet as after KITT was damaged in the las vegas desert after the first encounter with goliath so to get them back to flag headquarters michael has to reconfigure KITT's damaged turbine turbojet engine into a ram jet just to get back home

this is a replica of the hero car used in season 1 and 2 I made this using two different original 1/25 scale mpc knight rider models one was almost complete kit that had some parts melted to the tires and a partial glue bomb built up I basically just swaped the body hood and glass from the glue bomb built up with the ones from the almost complete kit the some of the engine bay parts and turbo jet engine came from spare Jada 1/24 scale die-cast KITT I also used the dash decals from it also I scratch built the tow bar receiver that allowed both the hero car the insert car and the back up to the hero car to be attached to a Camera truck so they could film out on the actual roads with the either just David or David and someone else in the car doing driving scenes it is also how you can tell if the car on screen is one of the 3 cars mentioned above or one the stunt cars which did not have the tow bar receiver

this is the amt/ertl 91 Pontiac firebird gta the kit with the black model art on the box I modified a mpc knight rider dash and lower console to look like the season 3/4 dash and lower console I swapped the seats with a set of knight rider pmd seats I also used a spare aoshima knight rider season 4 overhead console I modified the nose and added a set of side air vents and replaced the kit rims with some from my part boxes and added a custom set of hubcaps I made with Lego pieces to them
